Does anyone have the scene where the black guy gets attacked in the church? It is one of the funniest scenes i've ever seen. He just lies there getting killed while the dog attacks his legs. Anyone could have killed the dog or escaped.

Apparently, in the novella, Keys trains the dog to attack white people but Fuller thought that too excessive and structured the ending so that the viewer understands the dog to be confused; that's from the DVD outtakes. When I saw the film I thought the dog attacked Burl Ives' character because of his vague resemblance to the racist grandpa(owner).

This is actually based on a real story. Actress Jean Seberg took in a friendly stray white dog off the streets of Hollywood and it attacked her black gardener and later two other black indivduals before she realized that it had been trained to attack blacks. Her husband Romain Gary a writer wrote a story about it in which Fuller read and made into this movie. Pretty sad.
