Pete, a couple questions about your guitar. Is the trem a standard Suhr? Because I have a Suhr SSS and I can only use the trem gently before the guitar goes out of tune. You seem to be able to use aggressively and you stay in perfect tune. Also, you get such a full tone from a single coil pickup. Are you using the standard Suhr single coils or something else?
I don't have the Suhr single coil noise suppression system, but is that what is giving you a full yet noiseless tone?
Pete just bought your album !!!! ... AMAZING (I'm usually not into instrumental rock.. but fuck it) ... Mind blowing , I'd like to encourage anyone who have heard your demos to take a listen at perplexed in your videos to get a good idea .. You're the man.. awesome tone awesome riffs and most important and usually overlooked when talking 'bout gear.. Awesome music you write buddy . keep up the good work.
Great at always! been a fan of you for years ever since you posted the Eruption lesson.
Love the sound here! Is it really just the Axe FX? straight into a soundcard or something, or into a cabinet? im not very technical when it comes to gear, and preamps and power amps and such. havent quite figured out how the Axe works... :-(
Feather in your cap Pete! One of the coolest guitar instrumentals Iv'e ever heard... Going to check out your album now. I watched your eruption videos ( that are are cool) but this is really good!!!!!! I'm starting a recording project next weekon my AxFX II with some inspiration now!
Hi Pete, I watch all your videos, while I really liked the tone here, I much prefer when you play with real amps. But I'm really impressed how good the digital modeling is getting. Do you think someday in near future we'll be replacing our analog gear with all digital devices ?
@Smoothtlknwhtboi Hi, I'm going to offer it soon (later this week), please check my Facebook band page for updates ( search for guitarnerd or Pete Thorn)
Pete I love this song.Got your CD like most of the songs.I wish you could do a video to break down this song and show how to play it that would be great. Thanks, Paul
Hey Pete, I have just bought a few tracks of Guitar Nerd (I am young and don't have the money on my card to buy the album, but will) It is by far my favourite album of the year, well for a long time, very catchy, and nice variety! I first heard about you when I was searching for session musicians, as I like learning about there approaches and to get inspiration as I hope to one day be a successful session musician - A big fan, Charles
@sinasl1 Hey Pete about to receive my Axe FxII soon. Great tones and track! I'll definitely get your album soon, saw you at the Suhr clinic in 2009 or 2010 in GIT and we met exchanged a few words and I have a picture too. Love your playing man.
@triskizulhiman25 no, there's stereo echo and verb on each preset- i usually go quarter notes on one side and 8th's on the other for delays, makes it feel wide... if I only use one delay subdivision, it's usually 8ths or quarters and I make sure each side is slightly different, so it sounds stereo
Just when I thought you couldn't get your sound any more refined Pete, you pull an Ace out of your sleve and let us know you have plenty of secrets still in store for us in the future! Great tone and playing, please continue to send more clips.
You're using two Ernie Ball volume pedals with your MFC? What's your method for getting a full sweep response out of them? There's a large debate about the best method on the FAS forum.
I wish I lived next door to Pete. "Hey you got time to jam today". "Uh sorry Ron I'm kinda busy, (man I can't get rid of this guy) ,uh... how about Thursday". SWEET!
i can't believe.. it sounds so good, all digital. i knew it would happen someday, i guess most of people interested in guitar stuff knew, but i thought we're a decade or two before the studio quality computer generated tones.
this is some super tasty guitaring... dig the industrial green guitar....? looking forward to purchasing tracks from guitar nerd at amazon. guess i know what product to use for computer guitar recording... check out my solo tone on my track '500 kilometers' on my channel - that was made with an allan holdsworth ibanez ah10 going through a KORGAX30G straight into a behringer mixer into my computer. had to spend HOURS to get that buttery tone though!
cont. single coil sound from the gear I currently have? I'm thinking three options, buy a pedal, have a single coil installed in the middle (expensive) or buy a Tele (more expensive), what do you think? Pete as much as I admire your playing, I admire more your down to earth manner and sharing your guitar playing experience and knowledge with the rest of us mortals out here. Thanks Pete.
@meonetallguy Hi, i'd suggest getting a Tele at some point- if you want a really versatile one, get one with a Strat type neck pickup... tele bridge pickup with a start neck pickup, that's a great combo.
Well done Pete! As I watched you play that piece I was thinking "wow, Jeff Beck" not that you don't have your own style. Pete I have question for you. I'm scratching at the intermediate player level, my gear consist of a Bill Lawrence Swampkaster T (Telecaster) with two small humbuckers, one at the neck ,the other at the bridge with a three way switch. I play it through a HotRod Deluxe. I do love the humbucker tone but lately I've been craving the single coil sound. Is there some way to get
I just recently got an Axe-FX II, and I love it, but it's so cool to hear an AMAZING player like you playing your super-professional music through it! I love how you're able to pace melodic & tasteful parts with "shredder-riffic" licks for excitement...Just AWESOME! BTW, the Jeff Beck vibe was beautiful too!
("Buttery" on Axe-FX II) - is based on a Buddha Twinmaster.
That last tone ("Shiver" on the Axe-FX II) is based on the Bogner Shiva.
I'm not just saying this because I'm posting it on here, but Pete is seriously one of my favorite guitarists and has been for a few years now. Every lick, riff, whatever is just 'right' if you know what I mean. A lot of people can play flashy and cram cool stuff into a song, but Pete always serves the song extremely well and still makes it interesting.
The Axe-FX is becoming more and more accepted despite being digital. Many people atleast use it for effects loop and some legitimate professionals/big bands use it as their entire sound.
Pete, That was awesome! I hope you are sponsered by Fractal because I bet you just sold them a few dozen Axe FX units. Just bought your CD. Keep nerding out! Did you use the Axe FX on the CD? or just for this demo?
Hey Pete great playing. Just wondered what you like about the AXE FX 2 compared to the G system? I'm thinking of switching from the g sys to the axe fx and just wanted some feedback seeing as you've played with both. Thanks Paul
just by (0:50) and that was enough for me to buying the album right NOW! I wish it was via iTunes but it's still not working in Brazil. I'll do it at CD Baby so... Cheers Pete!
Fab playing, Pete, and a great demo - the first Axe FX 2 demo I've heard that sounds alive and organic. But more than that, what a lovely tune! Going to have to pick up a copy of your CD.
Amazing tones and playing.. Which amp on axe fx you uses??
A lot of thanks!
Cheers from Paris
