  • @Ceillyang Have you tried it out with a dome diffuser instead of the built in diffuser? if so were the results good??

  • @theinfamousmrlee No, but I plan an purchasing a dome diffuser soon.

  • the 90 degree only rotation limit should not matter when you hold the camera sideways unless you want to shine the flash at yourself.....I don't see it as an issue....

  • @mthomas12689 Yes, it's just that I like to tilt in the opposite direction...but I can live with it.

  • @Ceillyang - yeah...I can see that....I am new to DSLR photography...and I appreciate your point of view....thanks....currently looking to buy an external flash for my 60D.....

  • thanks for the video...!! you have a new fan. did you upgrade your flash in the end? im a beginner and dont know if i shouldbuy this (moneyy?!!!)

  • @shgfe3ay Actually I didn't, I bought a macbook instead. It is quite expensive so I conducted an experiment before I purchased one to to see of there really was a difference. Take a small mirror and place it in front of (but facing) the flash that's on your camera. Start taking pictures and use the mirror to bounce the flash in different directions and see what effects it makes!

  • @AlexFQuality LOL thanks, but those are old photos and I have gotten much better!

  • ceillyang you should got a younguno sooo good and 10x cheaper

  • some wrong here dog, she aint in the kitchen man !

  • @PhuNguyen88 my husband does the cooking.

  • meaning what exactly? ......... :)

  • @MrEltel63 It means you should stop watching my crap videos.

  • sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.... lol :)

  • @MrEltel63 Being cruel is being cruel.

  • @MrEltel63 WOW i've just read the comments. You really are a nasty piece of work dude. You're so fast to be rude and critical but at least shes uploaded something with the intent to help/show others. What about you.. have you uploaded anything on YouTube? EXACTLY.

  • Don't be like that.......keep up the crap videos it gives me something to laugh at ;)

  • @MrEltel63 I like people to be honest but did you really have to be insulting, jesus christ.

  • yes maybe, i cant stand you self obsessed people with no real content, and the remark about holding the flash backwards i suggest you look at your own video......if you still do not know what people are telling you after....i rest my case about you being dumb! have a nice day :0

  • @MrEltel63 How am I self obsessed when you're the one acting like a rude know it all? It's my first speed light and I only owned it for less then a year and I made that video days within purchasing it and it was mounted on the base like that in the store so I assumed that's the way it's supposed to go.

  • @Ceillyang My work here is done..... see ya dummy, you so cute lol ;)

  • @MrEltel63 Yes, please go away!

  • @MrEltel63 she is right!! Go away you are nasty

  • you are dumb !

  • @MrEltel63 And you are a hater.

  • word of advice with using flash and aperture. learn your f stops. f1.4 f2.0 f2.8 f4.0 f5.6 f8.0 f11.0 f16.0 f22.0. each one is 1 full stop of light. exposing pictures will become a lot easier when you have this down.

  • @TheRunningBoy20 Thanks, I'll have to do more experimenting. Lately, I've been doing a lot of photos using natural light for artistic purposes.

  • @Ceillyang like if you pictures are coming exactly how you want them at f4 iso 100 with the flash on quarter power but a you want a little more depth of field then all you'd have to do is bump it up to full stops to f8 and put the flash on full power andI know you didn't really ask but thats just kinda how you'd put that into effect. and for me shooting with existing light is one of the harder things to do since you have much less control. try getting a reflector if you don't already:)

  • @TheRunningBoy20 THanks for the tips, very helpful.... and using natural light is just for artistic purposes and the point of it is that your not controlling it.....

  • you're cute... ;)

  • @jamalsilv3r thanks

  • @jamalsilv3r but bad at giving product demos lol

  • @xhaloz LOL duh, I said I'm not an expert and when I made this video I JUST bought it hahahaha

  • What's the zoom? and how exactly would I know how much to zoom?

  • @BeautyLensGirls Zoom is similar like zooming in on a lens, where your target area is. From what I've read, people only zoom if they're using the flash to light up the background. I don't know since I ever had the need to to it.

  • is there a way i can press a button and it flashes, for say if I want to light up certain areas with a several minute exposure?

  • @pkwright41 Yes, I how you how to do it in the video, you just press the white button that turns red when the light is ready. For several minutes of exposure you need to change the settings manually and slow down the shutter speed.

  • whats a master???

  • @StevenRHaz A master is pretty much a device that will trigger the flash. Some flashes also known as slaves, such as this one, will not go off unless triggered by a master which can be another flash, the camera, or another device that has the triggering capabilities.

  • Thank you so much! I just got this flash for christmas and your video helped immensly :)

  • @cgd39 Good! I hope to make more videos about how I use it.

  • hey, I got this 439EX , not the 430 EX II but however, i am really new to this equipment, can you make a video on how to use this piece? and one more thing, I am using Nikon D80. it did fit nikon as well and did flashed but i have no idea if it is working on its full level. I mean, I usually take party pictures where i have to be fast at taking pictures... and this machine takes a bit time to charge or something....i cannot use its flash continously... :(

  • @santubaba Yes, I was thinking about making a video about the basics of bounce flash so stay tuned. Also, the continuity of the flash depends on the recycle time and your camera settings.

  • @Ceillyang looking forward to it. :)

  • Am I in a Kindergarten ?

  • @coovimani I wouldn't know.

  • How long do the speedlights last ? Can you use them everyday for years without any failures or do they burn out etc ?

  • @SuperMangn Not sure, this is my first one and use it all the time.

  • @Ceillyang @SuperMangn I dnt think there is a burnout. I have had a flash for abou 7 years now and it still going strong, I used it once as a strobe light haha

  • @mariolopez98 LOL as a strobe? Awesome. Thanks for answering our question!

  • @Ceillyang yea I was bored one day and decided to have a rave so I put on some music and used that flash as a strobe light lol You know how you can test the flash and you get burst of light, well yea I just kept pressing it for about 30 mins off and on every couple seconds haha

  • @mariolopez98 LOL too funny.

  • @mariolopez98 wow really? O_o

  • IT doesnt defuse the light...it just makes it even wider angle

  • @maybe000itsme got it

  • @Ceillyang I am thinking you refer to the shade, the shade is meant for use when there is a wide angle lens attached to the camera, it spreads out the light as to not catch vignetting.

  • @mariolopez98 Got it, thanks!

  • I have had the speedlight for a couple months now, I love it. I am also waiting for the 580 ex or something bigger so I can expand my arsenal for lighting. Great work btw =)

  • @mariolopez98 Thanks, I'm getting better and better. That's so true! I can't wait to get another speed light and enhance my photos but it's so expensive. Have to save and make that investment!

  • @Ceillyang see for me, I actually started my adventures down the dark side, I wanted to go wireless and with the 430 ex II you can, but my camera doesnt support it, and unless I have a master I cant do it either. So I got a cheap route, I got a yongnuo rf-603 for my canon, it doesnt do ETTL but it works. Once I save up to get the master, I can use this to trigger my master and then trigger the slave via the canon wireless. All I need is the master and I have that system working wireless :D

  • @mariolopez98 I know what you mean! I don't know if I want to just get a wireless trigger system or get the master first.

  • @Ceillyang well if your camera has the capability for wireless I would just get the master, the drawback is you need line of sight between the master and the slave. Also you cant use that set up in a very sunny day. Most photogs use the all too popular pocket wizard, altho it is awesome, each one is like 100 bux. Thats why I got the triggers I discussed earlier. They work for the job I need for now. If you do go wireless, you can just trigger the two or one strobe and walk around the subject

  • Neverjetno si lepa :)

  • You are suppose to press the side button in completely before swiveling the flash!

  • @ldballoon4 Yes I know.

  • Ceil, first read the instructions!! U got it, backwards! lol..! At least you have class! baby!! lol I have the same 430 exii good speedlite. 580EX Sometime next year!. Oh! one more thing! Gorgeous eyes! =)

  • @mliano71 LOL I did read the manual!!! Is it really backwards? I'll have to check when I go home....

  • the pretty's eyes I have seen in years.

  • @wentw1tj Thank you

  • thank god shes pretty.

  • @Panda8541 THank you

  • "kind of a case"???

    "It comes out"??

    Great.

  • @AndrewP222 LOL don't judge me

  • Now she warns me. Lol

  • Zzzzzzz...wake me up when the good part comes.

  • @CampFireFilmsInc LOL don't watch

  • ASIAN PRIDE!! XD

  • @FilipKid LOL

  • its great that somebody knows the basics of bounce flash..seems like nowadays people still buy these flashes with no knowledge of using them and point them directly -_- one thing the 580exii has over the 430ex is the option of plugging in an external battery pack...no way im getting fast recycle times when im shooting a wedding reception...you'll miss so many moments. I'll get perfect exposures every time shooting at like 1/8 power or...if i want to wall bounce at like1/4 depending on distance

  • @tkwonproductions Interesting, thanks for the tip. I know what you mean, some people even buy plastic diffusers just to aim the flash directly at their subjects *SMH. I still haven't used the flash at manual settings but I'm very comfortable with manipulating the level of exposure by changing my shutter speed on the body.

  • @Ceillyang np, if you have any questions feel free to ask me, i'm a wedding photographer :)

and yeah manual settings are kinda tricky at first. i used ETTL for a while before shooting manual. I'll still shoot ETTL for some instances like a grand entrance when im shooting w/ a 70-200. people are walking up fast and it'll meter it close enough to put out the appropriate amount of power..any adjustments ill take care of in Lightroom anyway :) and for flash aperture is your primary exposure control

  • @tkwonproductions That is very cool! I'll definitely seek to you for help :) I only use photoshop, I don't have lightroom. I remember reading something about aperture controlling exposure because the burst of light is actually constant. I do a lot of researching and looking at other photography blogs just to learn. There's so much more to photography than simply pressing the shutter button which makes a lot of ametuers really annoying to me because they act like they're pros LOL *sigh

  • @Ceillyang definitely check out LR! its amazing...almost 90% of images that are delivered to clients from the studio im under is edited in LR only. Any advanced processing, retouching, etc is taken in to photoshop. and LOL yes that makes me sad/angry deep inside...lot of noobs out there charging ridiculous amounts of money for crap -_- smh. are you considering photography for a career? assisting a pro is probably one of the best things you can do!

  • @tkwonproductions LOL we'll see, I should probably get LR. I've met a lot of professional photographers throughout the years since I volunteer to photograph different events held by the conservation association here.... I receive great tips from them too. Right now photography is just a serious hobby :) My honors project is going to be about photography so I'll be advised by a photography professor, I'm so stoked!! I'm getting a Comp Sci degree but I'm so obsessed with digital art........

  • Thank you! I just bought this flash and after watching your video I finally learned how to wirelessly trigger it, your very beautiful and I appreciate this video, and your pictures.(:

  • @latdawg123 Thank you. Glad it was helpful

  • Well i can say i'm not disappointing about ordering mine..i can't wait to receive it..by the way..you are attractive.

  • @Zodiakja Thanks, it is a great camera.

  • You are so cute!

  • You were holding the camera backwards. So if you are shooting on camera, the buttons and menu display will be facing the back of the camera. So you won't have to re-adjust your shooting position to bounce the flash.

  • Greetings from sydney,

I really like your blog. Cindy, I took a look at your blog and it seems nice but I can't hear u talk while looking at your blog cause the the music is playing.

May I know did you use a flash in the senior class portraits. I did not see any shadows in the photos.

  • @sharkman0616 Thanks so much! I did use my flash for the first half of the day. It was very sunny out so I used it to fill shadows and took pictures in the shade. Later, I turned off the flash because it over exposed her (no flash was used in the picture of talee sitting against the red bridge).

  • Well done ! I just watched 10 vids and yours made the most sense.

  • @chowieeeee Glad it did..... I hope to do more photography videos soon :)

  • Its snowing outside coz its winter.......

  • did anyone noticed that the flash is mounted on the stand back to front? that’s the reason why the lock lever didn’t lock easily. pay attention and nothing gets harmed ;)

  • what the song playing on you blogspot?? PLEASES ANSWER :)

  • @zhenaemma You don't need to beg, I reply to everyone. It's bound to you by Xtina

  • Ммм may be some time but very beautiful:):) have a very nice person:)

  • I do not know for Canon 430EX II but chick is super nice:)

  • @MrKoozee :)

  • How did you shoot the falsh witout being on the camera.

  • @habbab Press the red button that lights up.

  • @Ceillyang Thansk you so much!

  • @habbab Sure. but all you had to do was read the manual LOL

  • You're so cute! Yeah but nice video :-) I just got one.

  • @TheSoapTube THanks :)

  • Does this flash work with 550D? thank you :) and please be gentle with that flash :D

  • @ashkibala1 I think it's compatible with all canon dslrs

  • Technically that isn't the recycle time, as pre flash and FEL flash (as well as stroboscopic) aren't full power. :D Great video though, nice to see the flash in context, rather than just a product image.

  • @jledarby Alright, thanks for the correction.

  • @Ceillyang but great review though :P

    I'm just really pedantic :/

  • Do you ever use bounce cards?

  • @unclestuntman No, unless you count one of my experiences with flashcards and mirrors.

  • Wait a minute, you purchased the 430 just because the 580 was not in stock?. You just spend $300 on that flash when you could have just waited and get the master 580 that you really wanted for an extra 200?? Must be an asian thing...

  • @summerdying111 LOL yes and no. I purchased it because I needed it to shoot an event that was coming up in a few days... then i was going to return it before the 30 days and upgrade to the 530 but I never did it because I spent my money on a laptop. Make sense?

  • Hello!!!! ur pretty ;) .. well im startin' as a photographer and i think im going for this flash.. :D.. i wouuld like the 580 but its a little xpensive lol... im going to subscribe.. maybe i get some tips from your videos

  • @JuanMiro507 Thanks, I hope to make more informative videos soon. It's been a while since I last talked about photography.

  • 7:40 and beyond is useless...just to save other people time...

  • are you a photographer or are you the model? haha

  • @hoyKEBIN haha! I'm the photographer, but also my own test subject.

  • @hoyKEBIN Thats why timer is in camera :)

  • Hi! Do you know the difference between your flash and the 580ex II besides the size? And may i know what state are you from? Thanks!

  • @johnallenish Yes, the biggest difference is that fact that 430 ex ii is strictly a slave flash, while the 530 ex ii is both a master and flash.

  • "when you pull out the difusser, you can't change it at all ..."

The reason why is because the "difusser" that you are using is not a disfusser, it is a wide-angle adapter. Hence why you are not able to zoom in. Most of the time it will automatically adjust the zoom to 14mm-17mm. It spreads the light out, and is not for "disfussing" the light.

  • @chrisjamesknapp Yea, that's pretty much what I read in the manual. THX.

  • I have the same flash with the canon 60d, how do you get pictures to have the white background??!! i have been trying to do this forever but cant get it:(

  • @Msilku I bounced the flash but evenso, you can't really over expose the background with just one flash that's mounted on the camera (it takes another flash that is directed onto the bg). the more white backgrounds are edited and I do it by over exposing the background in photoshop... that way it looks more natural and not fake like how deleting the background and painting it white would be.

  • your hella pretty! nice video.

  • @dayumitzmark awe, thanks!

  • Thank you so much!

  • @JaymeGordon1 hope it was somewhat helpful!

  • Be careful not to brake the flash by sliding it on to the stand from the wrong direction. Also, the stored panel is not meant to soften the light but it is there to make the light spread wider for lenses wider than 24mm up to 14mm maximum.

  • @Hazuismine wide angle lens, cool, thanks.

  • why are you looking down the whole time?

  • @lauj1403 Sorry, I tethered my camera to my lap top so I could see what was happening... I was just making sure everything was in frame.

  • wow who know a flash would be so interesting :O

  • @c41762 LOL the person watching is the one that's interested-- not necessarily the item.

  • your scarf + earrings LOOK AMAZING TOGETHER.

  • @c41762 Thanks.

  • wt a thorough explanation abt the modes :) anyway, yays for followin my blog <3
