I tried to recreate Drizzt Do'Urden. I used a lvl 6 elf ranger. I got some pretty good hits on Sarevok. I managed to kill him using Just my main and oil of speed. I killed Drizzt near the gnoll stronghold, so I used the Scimitar +5 defender and Drizzt's mithral +4. I got 24 average damage on Sarevok and 52 critical damage. I didn't find a challeng in using summons, but hey, everybody has their own thing.
@TomCze18 Drizzt is a Fighter, not a Ranger. Technically he's a multiclassed Fighter/Ranger/Barbarian with the vast majority of his levels in Fighter, some in Ranger, and very very little in Barbarian.

Puh-lease...I love evo spells, but Xan is an very underrated character. Mostly because he can't cast evo spells and unpatched, he gets screwed out of an additional memorized spell. Patch the game and get clever with spells he is an effective spellcaster. His moonblade is also a pretty powerful weapon for any mage to have (Not a lot of +3 weapons in BG1, or TotSC). Magic Missle, Fireball and Lightning Bolt isn't everything, folks.

It gets the job done. Where in the rulebook does it say you're not allowed to use cheap tactics to kill enemies? Especially if it's a ridiculous amount of common enemies swarming over the end boss like ants over a picnic.

Best way to kill Sarevok with your tank is to turn the FPS setting up really high. For some reason this causes him to get fewer chances to hit compared to you.
i havent played that in so long. i used to fireball and fog of war to cheat all the time. you just find out where they are all standing and edge it up to where they dont see you and lob fireballs and they explode at the edge of the fog and you can hear them being hurt. they dont come after you though

Angelo shoots them with arrows of destruction, pisses off the others and gets munched. Annoy Tazok then just maul him on his own and do the same with the other mage. Sarevok you just shoot and run away.
ive acually beaten him 1v1 strenght vs strenght course thats was when i could stack your little Bhaal gifts ontop of cloudgiant strenght potion. you can also make saravok and his party kill each other by makeing angelo use his aoe near everyone else. So tecneckly you could solo this. pretty slim of succeding thought
I've picked up BG about four times since it first came out, but I haven't ever played it through to the end until now. I'm coming up on this battle very soon. Is it possible to just mass fireball them? I have three fireball casters, a bunch of oils and potions of exploding, and two necklaces of missiles. Nine or ten fireballs would do it?
What I ended up doing was hasting and using arrows of piercing and biting with potions of heroism, bullets +3 for my spellcasters, and a couple magic missiles. A mirror image plus blur is a nice decoy on my thief-mage, or summons, and he usually falls before he can get a hit on anyone. It was easier than I thought it'd be.

I used a similar tactic to kill him. Except, I forget what monster summoning level I was using, but I summoned a couple dozen Hobgoblin Archers and Sarevok went down quick.
easiest and most lame method of killing drizzt or sarevok is by using a bug in game :P u summon creatures u atk a boss with them and before a boss sees them u escape in such a way he cant see u (on stealht) and w8 until a boss is dead ( it takes a lot of time i killed drizzt within 10 minutes with 7 skeletons and sarevok within 15-20 minutes:PP
Definitely. I still got my money's worth from conjuration. Finished off those adventurers in Temple District sewers in Shadows of Amn thanks to Clairvoyance and Hasted summons.
Errmm, I mean Farsight to spot where they are exactly, then deploy hasted summoned critters. Same with the Mind Flayer Base in the sewers. Gotta love Helms of Charm Protection. I also added in a hasted Anomen running in to Holy Smite the illithids whilst they were feasting on my summoned critters. They make for a nice roadblock when stunned. Once, they stunned my summoned Pit Fiend T_T
I remember gettin to Sarevok with my party but I use the cheats for drizzts to kick his butt. Could have use summons to kick his butt like I did when I first got to Baldurs Gate and fought lots of enemies in this one buildin.

Brings back memories. Mass summons was what it was all about in BG1. That's why I liked Clerics too, could summon 40+ skeletons easily in later levels.

every time i went in to kill sarevok, one of my party members died instantly after what seemed like a single blow. wtf? later i just explored some more and gained XP and HP. but yeah, bg still rules.

in the original game, Sarevok has 100% magic resistance. iirc, this resistance is removed in the expansion.

if you kill tazok first and manage to pull only sarevok afterwards, killing him takes about ten seconds with a single, fully buffed (haste spell and potion of power are especially critical) fighter.

I used a similar tactic to kill him. Except, I forget what monster summoning level I was using, but I summoned a couple dozen Hobgoblin Archers and Sarevok went down quick.

easiest and most lame method of killing drizzt or sarevok is by using a bug in game :P u summon creatures u atk a boss with them and before a boss sees them u escape in such a way he cant see u (on stealht) and w8 until a boss is dead ( it takes a lot of time i killed drizzt within 10 minutes with 7 skeletons and sarevok within 15-20 minutes:PP

Definitely. I still got my money's worth from conjuration. Finished off those adventurers in Temple District sewers in Shadows of Amn thanks to Clairvoyance and Hasted summons.

Errmm, I mean Farsight to spot where they are exactly, then deploy hasted summoned critters. Same with the Mind Flayer Base in the sewers. Gotta love Helms of Charm Protection. I also added in a hasted Anomen running in to Holy Smite the illithids whilst they were feasting on my summoned critters. They make for a nice roadblock when stunned. Once, they stunned my summoned Pit Fiend T_T

I remember gettin to Sarevok with my party but I use the cheats for drizzts to kick his butt. Could have use summons to kick his butt like I did when I first got to Baldurs Gate and fought lots of enemies in this one buildin.

Me dishing out some ownage against Sarevok in the last fight on baldurs gate :) I had two characters, one an elf ranger and then i got xan from the nashkel mines (i think thats where i got him anyways)... and we took hardly any damage :)

I HATED the limited character voice selection, the fugly interface, the limited inventory space, ugly character models and the game pause not persisting while in inventory mode. Could anyone please recommend a good mod that upgrades this to Shadows of Amn standards?

It DOES look pretty hard. But Shadows of Amn, Throne of Bhaal and the Icewind Dale series are even harder. And much better.

as good maybe, and you have not tried to fight him, it was hard with 6 people on the team, he had the right concept though, summon alot of monsters, although i had 2 mages and 2 preists and 2 warriors, 10 to 13 monster summonings per mage , and 8 between the priests,
Thats more then a hundred guys, 90% of them were killed the other 10% were saved because of arrows and kick ass spells

The best way to kill him is to have a mage with allot of magic missile scrolls with a summoner to create meat shild(cleric/druid/mage).

Brings back memories. Mass summons was what it was all about in BG1. That's why I liked Clerics too, could summon 40+ skeletons easily in later levels.

Thats how I used to dragon slay in BG2 :), though you could summon less if I remember rightly, you could still keep on summoning.
I didn't need a party, just a sorcerer.

i have broadband but the speed is actually slower than 56k dial-up. We complained and they told us that it isn't their duty as an internet service provider to provide us with the internet service for which we're paying for.

you really need a spellchecker :) There's nothing you can do about it because it's UP TO 8 meg broadband and not 8 meg broadband. So they can provide it to us at any speed and call it 'up to 8 meg broadband'

every time i went in to kill sarevok, one of my party members died instantly after what seemed like a single blow. wtf? later i just explored some more and gained XP and HP. but yeah, bg still rules.

Ah BG what a classic series. I never got to Sarevok on the first, i couldn't beat some guys atop the Iron Throne.
But BGII was great fun, max levelled theif/mage. Used to love invisibility + backstab.
