Bad ass game. I remember staying up for three days playing this when I was seven. I loved it! The soundtrack is excellent, and it mixed RPG's and action game genres very well for the time.

I liked this game alot back in the day. I loved the exploration and powerup aspect of it, though it just could have been done so much better. More boss fights, better dracula castle and fight, more moves, etc. I wish they'd make another game like this with these aspects. Still love the music though.

Totally agreed' pal! Simon's Quest was the birth of the Castlevania RPGs (as i prefer to call e'm) and thus DAWN OF SORROW THE BEST CASTLEVANIA THERE EVER WAS!

If you liked DoS (which I too, I've played it through every possible way, lol), be sure to check out the coming Castlevania on Sony PSP. I think it name was Casltevania Dracula X Chronicles or something like that. It's an 3d remake of Rondo Of Blood.

How is this speed? You start with items, at 1:27 you make a jump cut...I guess you were afraid people would be bored with seeing you climb 20 flights of stairs.

Actually the game really is boring. I beat it in two days while playing it moderately.  The bosses were a joke. You can WALK PAST TWO OF THEM.

I have to agree with EvilPacMan: this isn't a proper speed run. Starting with full inventory is hardly an impressive feat. However, watching a speed run for this game would be very very tedious... AVGN is right on the money with this one.

Let me clarify: I meant that AVGN had some valid points of criticism. I don't think Castlevania 2 is a bad game: Jekyll and Hyde is a bad game. Ghostbusters for NES is a bad game. However, I do think the game designers should have responded to the sort of criticisms AVGN made while the game was still in development. The boss should not be that easy to kill, nor should the text boxes for the transition between night and day be so intrusive on gameplay.
