@dimitri02 Hi dimitri02, I'd like to tell you, Hornets are not by mandate. Trust me, I've picked them by choice. Back in '04 I used to fly the Tomcat. Until my CO gave me the choice to switch to the Super Hornet (Rhino). I said yes. When I got on that plane, my life was EASY! You would not belive the maneuverability on the Rhino and the avionics. The computer does the work for me now unlike the Tomcat. I had to do everything by hand. And if your thinking the Super Hornet is slow, wrong.
(continued) The F/A-18 A/B/C/D models top speed was Mach 1.8. However, the Rhino was designed to exceed Mach 2. And it is also semi-stealth because of the design. If you understood how stealth works, then you would know how the Super Hornet would work. :)
Your name says "USMarinesrule" how did you fly the Tomcat in the first place? And by the way, Super Hornet top speed is only Mach 1.8. Tomcats were 2+. Sure, the Super Hornet has stealth, but only to a very limited capacity. The Super Hornet is more advanced, but the Tomcat is a tough war hardened machine. The Hornets is slightly better in air-to-ground, but in air-to-air combat, The Hornets are dead.
My son made this account in '07. I did fly the Tomcat in '04 until my CO gave me the choice to switch to the Super Hornet. I said yes. So far, my chances in winning a dogfight has a great probobility. Only the F/A-18 A/B/C/D models top speed is Mach 1.8. The Super Hornet however was designed to replace te Tomcat. So that means it has a speed of Mach 2+. I don't even know why my name is USMarinesrule.
I don't get it, People say different things about the Tomcat and the Hornet. Most Tomcat pilots said that they would rather take her into combat than the Super Hornet. Only a couple said they'd rather go with the Bug. Either way, The Tomcat will always own the carrier decks. My loyalty still stands with Tomcat!!
@xTomcatsForeverVF84x Well with all due respect to my father-in-law, I would rather take the Super Hornet into a dogfight. My job is to protect the fleet. That is why I am always filled with Sidewinders and AMRAAMs.

@JohnnyChung726 I once heard a radio interview with a USAF pilot and he said the only realistic thing about Top Gun is the singing in the bar.
