I completely agree with Bzicnephrilis, he was so young and talented and yet God called him home. My heart truly does out to his family. Its hard to see a family member get diagnosed with cancer and I am so fortunate to still have my mom. Andy was a great example of what faith and determination will accomplish no matter what the circumstances are. God bless him and may he rest in peace!!!
I have three favorite renditions of this song. The Tenors, kd lang at the Olympics, and Rufus Wainwright. All are Canadians!! They're all unique, and after dozens of repetitions I still love hearing them. Simply outstanding each one.
Maybe next year steve jobs will be on the list too.Just as honorable mention. R.i.p all of them. Still can't believe that Ryan dunn died that early. To soon!
I agree that this is the best rendition of this song I have ever heard. The arrangement is perfect, harmony, reverb, strings, guitar, drums....perfect. Best part of the whole show.
2:39 Andy, I'll miss you so much! My heart is broken, life is so unfair. Your forever you will be the real Spartacus. The series without his beloved star will not shine with such intensity. Sleep my sweet angel, rest in peace beautiful warrior. Your fans will never forget you.
@BirdIsDaWordTV WHILE I ENJOYED ANDY WHITFIELD'S RENDITION, AND WAS SORRY TO HEAR OF HIS PASSING, THERE IS ONLY ONE LEGENDARY SPARTACUS, HIS NAME IS KIRK DOUGLAS.
@3rdigloo lol, David Foster told them the same thing! I've been a serious fan for over a yr and follow everything I find on them. Youtube has numerous videos of them not only singing, but also of interviews from appearances they've made. Jill Ann Siemens brought them together & Clifton replaced Jamie McKnight. You can get info from their website, FB, their CD & Google, then just go from there. The CT's are dynamite and the sky is the limit for them. Enjoy them and their music. Get to a concert!
@3rdigloo absolutely wonderful performance by The Canadian Tenors! Making it even more spectacular was that they performed it in front of millions of people! As for who is the better looking CT, I personally think that they are all very attractive men! BTW, Fraser recently married Kelly Levesque, the female singer opposite Tyler Hamilton of Due Voci:(
Espen Lind(on guitar), Askil Holm, Alejandro Fuentes, Kurt Nilsen and these guys tie for the best hallelujah version. But im thinking that these guys take the lead
I thought this song was finaly given its best version. The Canadian Tennors should always be remembered for this song the only problem i had with it was the cord at 3:04. The cord just seemed way to heavy. Other wise i give this 5 and a half stars
i dont really know any of the other actors/directors but if there fans are going through the same pain i am for Andy Whitfield then i know it cant be easier for them either :/ </3 R.I.P. Andy Whitfield and all these other talented actors/directors you were all inspirations for us all<3
The first time I ever heard this melody, it was in the final episode of the 3rd season of The West Wing...a version by Jeff Buckley. It was a scene and a song never to be forgotten.
I love so much they had "Uncle Frank" listed. The song is beautiful and the boys did a beautiful job with it. I'm sure it meant a lot to Jimmy Kimmel.
Beautifully done and wonderful to see Emmy nominee Bill Erwin honored for his seven decades in show business! "The Old Man" in "Seinfeld" was one his most memorable roles but Erwin has been on television since the late 40s and only retired in 2006. What an amazing career and what an extraordinary man he was!
i never imagined i could be this sad and heart broken by the death of a complete stranger a person i didnt know and probably would have never met miss u so much Andy :,( hopefully well meet on the other side.
This is a awesome tribute, It caught me off guard last night because our chaplain would play this song when we would lose one of our soldiers when we were in Afghanistan and it did my brothers justice just like those fine actors..... people call us heros but the people who can give us a laugh or take our mind off of where we are even if its just an hour makes all the difference. So RIP to the fine people in the tribute and to my Fallen Brothers at the 10th Mountain Division
@starkreality70 The verses are not "new". Cohen wrote many, many verses for this song. No one ever performs all of them because it would make the song very long. Various people who cover the song pick and choose the verses they like the most.
