Christian, cheer up, maybe its time to write that book and sell it? Don't sell out and move to the city, you're a country boy through and through..everyone is needed in their place. Some like the city life and some are made for the country life. Plant more and perhaps sell some of your produce. Don't you have produce stands there? Good luck to you. Will pray for you.
You are not alone. I know this video was posted a month ago, but I subscribed to your videos last night because you're very inspiring and real. Thank you for opening up to the world and I will keep you in my prayers. We're all going to be ok! :)
hey man hope you feeling better now that seems you are really upset but hey we all go though it in our life just get to talk to some peopel and be strong man. its a jungle out there and we gottta survive.
Nothing you are saying it is weird, mate. You do need a break that is why nature gave us Winter. To relax! If you can get someone to watch the place, take a trip. Do some camping, go think someplace. I think in the middle of all our busy we sometimes forget we need others to share, vent, love and laugh. Get a housemate who 100% shares your ideas/dreams so you can bounce off each other. Hang in there, friend! We subscribers are totally behind you.
Thanx for staying true to yourself. Ur fellow watchers r right,. We ALL have outr"Down Times" just like the plants u grow.. All good things take time. Ride it out Christian, it'll be ova before u know it. Endurance is the key and if you focus on your achievments and the positives in your life you'll see you're doing so much better than others. Talk about Wind and colder weather!!Windy Wellington.I LOVE it!Blows all the pollution away, shame it doesnt take the hot aird politicains with it! SMILE<
To hear you makes me think how incredible and connected this planet is, i feel your pain and have heard your story in different faces and various shades of skin. I can't tell you it's going to be alright because im no pshycic but i wish for you the best of luck. Because i also am going thru a similar situation. Find a friend or group where you can vent or a million friends like youtube :o)
Christian, it has been awhile since your last video post. I hope that you are doing well and are feeling better. Life is difficult and not meant to be easy. Times are tough right now in both the cities and in the country. All we can do is keep our beliefs and continue to move forward. I have great respect for your character and have no doubt that you will succeed with what you are doing. I enjoy your video post and greatly look forward to your next one. Hoping the best and you are in my prayers.
Then got stopped for a random breath test (and no I hadnt been drinking) but when the cop checked my license it had expired 8 days earlier. 5 year license - who checks them! Mail out here is unreliable and the renewal hadnt got to me! $400 fine for driving unlicensed. Just what I need. So you are not alone - DONT GIVE UP! Your real mates are all here backing you up.
Hey Christian. I am also in the same boat. FInding it really tough right now. Hit a roo in my car and then the car broke down. Need the car to get to work to earn the money to keep my small holding going.Somehow I need to come up with $2500 for repairs! So im having to rent a car. More money.
Where are you Christian? Come talk to us.Life sucks very often........but things come around .You need a partner to share the ups and downs with......After you drop out .....Don't forget to drop back in.Good Times Are Just Around The Corner.
Checking in on you again. Keep the light in your eyes Christian. Find a way to survive on your smallholding, and still be able to earn an income. It can be done. Just concentrate on that, and block out all the worries. Have faith that the answer is out there for you, and will find you. Just put it out there. All of us care here, and we are pulling for you. Keep that light in your eyes. You may feel alone, but you're not.
Chris, I think your being too hard on yourself. Give yourself permission to lay low for a day or two. It's hard everywhere the problem with running is eventually you run into yourself. It's not how often you fall. It's about how you get up. UMMIVORY
As a new subscriber to you wonderful channel I felt terribly for you when I viewed your latest video. Like everyone else I hope you can hang in till things get better. Giving up all you have worked for seems so wrong. Like others have said, try a housemate, offer you services to help others start small gardens. Try selling your books as downloadable ebooks for a quick influx of money. I know I would buy one or more even though the recipe one would contain meat which I do not eat. Don't give up.
Hey, listen man. I totally feel for you. Im in a very rough spot, trying to actually find a job. I have been unemployed for 3 months and haven't gotten a single interview yet. The jobs out where I live are just not here. Not to mention I need to go to school and I wont be able to pay for it if I don't find a job soon. Listen though, the best thing for you is to try and spend time with those close to you. It will lift your spirits until you can find yourself again.
A while back after hurricane Ike knocked out the power for about a month I got on this self sufficient kick. I put together a solar power system. I now have rabbits, chickens, and a produce garden. You have helped me to do all of these things, I just added a bunch of videos today. I don't want to come across as too "touchy-feely" but it really hurt me to watch this video. You are an intelligent person so I am sure things will work out. I will send you some good energy.
keep your head up man! don't know your religeous beliefs and it really doesn't matter, but my mother always told me as a child that god doesn' put antything on you that you can't handle.
Hang in there bro! I have been through some tough times too. You will look back and see this as a growing experience. It seems hard now and I am sure it is, but you will make it!
Hey bro, Been watching your gardening videos and have really been enjoying them. This video hit home pretty good. This winter was a tough time for myself. Lots of stress and the same thing every day. I share the same feelings as you man. Wanting to run away and be somewhere else is kind of the way I feel as well. Gardening and the spring and summer warm days really can lift a spirit and luckily for myself is around the corner. Hang in there man. Will send a prayer your way..from gerrit
Thankfully here it has greened up the last few days. I know when we had two houses this time, reading kept me going. Something not stressful. I love reading something like The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder, maybe not that one though as it talks of lack of food and the winter. The weather warming up again is good, we can't cut wood because of the fire danger. We need to sleep more, maybe you are the same? Do you eat a lot of dried lentils etc. as they are very cheap.
Perhaps, as some one mentioned in the past, you could rent out your spare room to people who love to live with you, and learn how to not only garden, but be self-sufficient. You have a lot of knowledge to share,
Christian, Perhaps you have a bit of S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) along with your financial stresses. Last winter I was a bit worried about you too, because you looked so worried, all the time. When Spring hit this year for you, you suddenly had a glint of mischief in your eyes, and you seemed so happy; in spite of the Victoria Fires. I thought that quiting your old job had lightened your soul. You need company.
I have felt that same tug to just leave the grid behind and live in nature. The only problem is lonliness otherwise I would do it today. I wish a samll group of fellow Christians could come together and do this. I have seen so many say they want to.
If you spirit says spends some time in the woods, follow your instincts, and do it. Go and camp rough in the woods for a few days, before the weather gets too cold. The woods are a deeply spiritual and healing place.
It's not an easy road you've chosen, but it's a worthwhile one. I wish you were reaping more rewards for all the hard work you've put in. Right now it it seems like you need a well deserved break. Hang in there. Will say a prayer for you.
If the financial situation worsens or even continues the same level of unemployment then in the big picture you will be far ahead of most, with all of your self sufficient mindset and skills.
I agree with dipswell on this one. And in the longer term those of us with land and self sufficient mindsets will be better off. It is a time of transiion with businesses and governments trying to resurrect the OLD way of doing things. Things will never be the same again. Plant some trees mate - that always makes me feel better!
Fall is actually a downer for me. I don't like winter!!! I forget that this is fall for you. It is just beginning to be spring where I live. Had the first really nice day yesterday. Spring is always a time of renewal for me, things turning green, the promise of a new garden etc.. Hang in there Dude, rejoice in your accomplishments, like finishing the chicken coop, getting the garden ready. Stand back... look at that stuff... and say I DID THAT!!! You will get through it !
I hope you'll feel better soon. It must be hard to do all that stuff on your own. Not just the physical labor but the lack of motivation must be a drag sometime. I guess that's why you're sharing with all of us online. ;)
Here's a crazy thought. I haven't got a clue how large your land is, but perhaps it's an option to allow others to live there as well. Start a small community. Supporting eachother, working together, being involved, etc. Or perhaps just allow folks to co-use the garden...
Don't give up... I am in the same boat... Just pray... Keep doing what you are doing... Its going to get better... It is for me... And it will for you... Find your happy spot and dont let nothing take it from you.... Keep making videos...
Do you think people would pay you to help them create their own veg garden in their backyards. If so, you might try get someone create brochures and deliver them in letterboxes.
Nice idea - I am a graphic artist by trade Christian and I am happy to help out designing a brochure for free to help a fellow downshifter and small holder.
sad eh??? HA i havent had a job in over a year, YET i want land and the ability to sustain myself. People share, simply find a way to share back....if EVERYONE SHARED noone would need money.....thus no stress over money.
Aww man don't sell out, you seem to enjoy having a smallholding so much! I say hold on till things pick up again, even if it means getting another job like a part time job or something just as a bit of extra income? Btw are you getting the Krudd money? I mean the $900 odd the PM is handing out? surely that would help a bit eh?
I know what you mean. Just keep talking to all of your you tube buddy's. We will help keep your spirits up. It's our turn now. You have done that for us for some time now and I think we can now return the favor. I think all your subscribers would agree!
i did not know the financial slump made it's way over to Australia. do what makes you happy. but what we think will make us happy offen times does not. it's the little things that bring joy. friends loved ones and special days.
stress is something that will make you compleatly unmotivated. i do not let stress get anywhere near me. i wish you knew the Lord He is a comfort to me. your videos motivate me. i do not live in the country yet but i do have a garden your vids help me to plan my dream
