The only sad aspect of "Stoney End" is it resulted in Clive Davis cancelling release of the album "The Singer," which basically was an album of Alan and Marilyn music. Then Liza comes along on the same label and uses the same song "The Singer" as the title for her album. I don't think anyone ever noticed or even thought about it.
Seth, I swear, you say some of the same things I do when listening to Barbra. And how you know even the spoken words from her live works. You are AMAZING. Your passion makes the rest of us feel we are not alone in our passion:}
Seth, LOVE your deconstructions, but are you sure that the piano riff on the studio version of Stoney End is really a piano? It sounds to me more like a guitar because the tones are bent. Can't wait to see more!!!!
Thank you Mr. Seth. You are a very good music professor. Is this Stoney End? Very good. You're famous in Asia, I make sure everybody knows you. They already know Barbra because I have been educating them for years and I force restaurants to play her CD's (to educade the people). Did you see the D in educade? Funny, I know. Bless you. Greetings from Thailand.
Love the way he finds meanings in the way she sings but for God sake, does he always speak that fast????? Damn, he reminds me of those little girls on Blossom and the Cosby show, remember Six ?? NO periods, commas, or punctuation of any kind, I know you a New Yorker but not all people takes the spoken word and shoves them into a blender. SLOW DOWN , Enunciate and Articulate
You have an amazing sense of detail and notice the nuances and signature licks that make us want to listen to a song over and over again, Barbra has the gift of understanding when it comes to the power of sound and the power of a rest in her delivery. Excellent !!!
You rock! This is a wonderful breakdown of a fabulous song! NOW... can you explain the lyrics to us??? (Look around on the Internet..the answer might surprise lots of folks...)
The songwriter acknowledged she was a lesbian after a failed marriage. (a husband that liked to cat around)The "Stoney End" she writes about comes from her interpretation of the bible which called for Gays and Lesbians to be stoned to death. She did not want to come to a "stoney end" and in effect was wishing she had not been born or at least could be taken back in time to those carefree days of childhood "mama cradle me again"
You're great, man. Really funny. I think like you do. I can memorize riffs and passages and compare them in my head, but you actually reconstruct them and post videos. You make me laugh. You should use your talent. Thank you
It is rare that we meet such wonderfuly passionate people. I shall be listening and watching for much more of your work. Isn't great to be so unique and express oneself, without worrying about what others say, or do? Congrats on your great work and thank you.
Seth - this is FAB. Seriously. I just discovered you. I am completely and totally OBSESSED with BJS (I even have a Barbra room - someday I'll have to post a video). Anyway, so good to know someone appreciates the ridiculousness of her and all the divines. Have you worked on Judy yet?
i'm a big streisand fan but listening to this really demonstrates just how much she has lost it ,, she sounds old and croaky ,, but in her prime , no one could touch her
You know what the coolest thing is? I've always loved this song, but I never really knew why, you know? What you do, Seth, is not only EXTREMELY entertaining, it's also educational. I'm actually learning to listen to music a new way. You're brilliant! And adorable to boot. I'm obSETHed!
Dad gummit I love you so much--every time I get a chance to watch your videos; and it's usually right before my husband gets home from work, I am always laughing--so he loves that, then I make him watch my favorite bits, and then he's laughing with me, and pretty soon my 7 year old is laughing and singing with me, and it's instantly a happy night! Thank you thank you thank you!
I eally love watching your video's....I can't carry a tune..but you are so interesting♥ you are so interesting...a real character...
random question, Did you get to see The Rocky Horror Picture show when it was on Broadway...it was really the most fun I ever had going to the theater....I really enjoyed it...Did you get to see it? Did you love it? five stars...and favored♥

I love Barbra's studio recording of "Stoney End," but not her live concert version. Her voice sounds weird.

Does Barbara know you do such a grand impression of her?
You match her facial expression to perfection.
Brings me back to memories as a wee one belting out "i'm the greatest star" with my mother whilst driving in the family mobile. ah.... excellent.
