@slipknot794 And you are a retard who types in Spanish to try and sound intimidating when you just sound like a retarded clown munching on a cock. And you don't even realise that I do what I do on purpose either, because I am too unpredictable to agree to normal terms of human classifications. Ho ho ho ho.
this was the *only* scene that I looked away from for a moment. and I agree with "NejixHinataFan" American horror films---when I see an unnecesary sex scene...I turn it off b/c that just lets me know the movie will suck.
@Kashadooo It's a shock movie/crime drama, both of which are something different than a comedy.
The director actually said movies like this, Audition, Visitor Q, etc. are inspired by his childhood, where he was afraid to stand up to people who were mean to him.
Plus, this movie is based on a manga that also wasn't a comedy.
@Flea817 While I agree that it's not a comedy--there are no real "laugh out loud" moments in the film--it is quite clearly a black comedy. The stylised violence, over-the-top dramatics and harsh nature of this film all point to the label.
Horror and comedy are considerably intertwined and have been for years.
@Danitsui89 Black comedy is a form of comedy. I'm just agreeing with the creator, who I think has a higher voice than you.
It's not really a matter of opinion. I found The Human Centipede to be pretty funny, but it's not a Comedy. Just a movie that made me laugh because of personal perception of material.
I don't understand how people can call this a comedy. Sure there's funny parts, but as far as the story goes it's more of a crime drama/revenge film that is laden with dark humor. I mean it's about a masochist who tortures people and his search to find and be killed by a psychotic sadist who cries when he kills people and fantasizes about raping and dismembering women out of love (?). Takeshi Miike is no stranger to comedies, but this isn't one of them.
Zebraman was a dark comedy. Sukiyaki Western Django was a dark comedy. Happiness of the Katakuris was a dark comedy. Ichi the Killer was a crime drama.
@Honestabe86 he tortured some other guy and they want payback so he does that to himself in order to pay them back…… it shows that this guy is fucking crazy
He enjoys it. This blonde hair guy, Kakihara, is highly sadomasichistic. There's even another part on this film where he totures a man by hanging him from hooks, jabbing him in his face a few times, and using shrimp grease to burn him! Then, there's another part where he has a woman, Karen Tachibana, punch the shit out of him, telling her to hit him as if she wanted to 'kill' him!! Yep- crazy shit...
when ever i see gore, ether it be a live person dying on camera, a dead body or decapitation of body parts in a movie, i cant help but laugh. Its sick but i dunno why it sets me off like that.
I love the clip, but its kinda odd how they have to sever parts of the body as "payment" for things. That would just weaken the group if the most physically imposing person had to cut away pieces of their finger(s)s everytime he or she screwed up.
The clip is simply funny though since Kakihara had the balls to cut away a fragment of his own tongue.
If you guys think the movie is messed up then you obviously never seen the manga. Also this bit is made all the more disturbing by the fact that Kakihara is a sadomasochist and (at least in the manga) got a hard on from this.

@armste11, I agree. The problem with many American filmmakers (& I've watched PLENTY of both American & Asian horror!) is that they try to insert porn into an otherwise great horror flick, which ruins the entire plot & substance. That's exactly why I gave up on watching "Masters Of Horror". I just want a freaky, scary movie sans the gimmicks meant to appeal to pervs with fetishes.
I read your comment and you know something... you have a point there, I used to think that American horror films are awesome but they become so repetitive that it's starting to bore the shit out of me. I still love and enjoy the classic 80's horror, but now a days ALL horror movies are putting a sex scene which doesn't have anything to do with the freaking movie.
Once, I'd love to watch a true Horror movie with nothing but HORROR. Which is why I chose to watch Asian horror instead.
Well said, NejixHinataFan... there're still quite a bit of American horror flix that I enjoy, but it's too true that many of our filmmakers care more about ratings & gimmicks than quality. In fact, the only recent American horror film I have wanted to see is "Cirque Du Freak"; which also contains elements of comedy & adventure. As for the 80s flix, every one I've watched, it either rules ("Puppetmaster") or sucks ("Fright Night"); there's no middle ground for me.
I agree, what I love about 80's horror flicks is that they were all enjoyable, it didn't even matter if it was a b movie. I even saw Killer Klowns From Outer Space (xD).
I realized that there are many difference between American and Japanese horror, I see that Japanese horror is serious, suspenseful and more in tact with the story. American horror tends to be dramatic at most and be as goriest and bloodiest to "scare" the audience.
I've heard of "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" but haven't seen it. & ya know, sometimes B-movies are the best. As for cultural differences, I think the most noticeable one between American & Asian horror is the characters. In American horror, I tend to enjoy seeing the characters killed off (for the most part anyway), because many of them are unlikable.
OK, I had to post this in 2 pts. 'cuz it wouldn't post otherwise. ;-_-) Take the three schoolgirls in the Japanese "Juon" vs. the ones in the U.S. version of "Grudge 2". In "Grudge 2" two of the girls are juvenile, cliquish snobs who gang up on the third. Even she gets on my nerves for being such a suck-up. Whereas in "Juon" they all have a sense of maturity & treat each other like friends should. That way I actually care a bit when they die gruesome deaths. XD!

XD!
