  • Lovely, absolutely lovely.Technically superb but you use it to create tones and fluidity not to impress. Guitar looks like a brook by the bridge shape

  • Thanks for the comments - it is indeed a Brook Tavy - beautiful tone and action. Search You Tube on Lydiat and you'll see some more of it and my Manson acoustics.

  • this tune wasn't actually written by carolan, it exists in English Morris records 100 years previous to his birth. chances are he heard it, decided he liked it and then tried to write it of as his own.

  • This is a long-standing debate - which records point to the Morris? It's a beautiful tune nonetheless.

  • Well Done.

    Truely a fantastic job!

Even More remarkable was that O'Carolan was blind

  • Thanks for the comments

    you play it fantastic !!

  • Thank you - do you also play the tune? It's remarkable for something at least 250 yeras old.

  • Coulndn't find the tab on your site. Could you please send me the link via a PM ? :) Thank you in advance.

  • Very good - I was only familiar with the major key version.

  • Yes - the major key version much beloved by the English Morris teams (who think it refers to a boat)is better known. Miss MacDermott was the eldest daughter of an Irish chief - hence the Princess Royal alternative title.

  • I love this and all your O'Carolan tunes sound great on guitar. I will pass your website details to my guitar player friend so he can get the tabs. I must learn some on the harp.

  • Thanks for the kind comments.

  • Cheers Meg. I suppose I should get a grip, grow my nails, blow the dust off my guitar and get busy. Thanks for the link. X

  • that was wondreful, you are a great player.

  • Thanks - it's even better without a web cam pointing at me!

  • i know exactly what you mean, i can play a song perfect on the irish whistle, but right when that camera hits me to post i start to get real nervous and mess up a whole lot. so i am waiting to get more confidence in front of the camera before i post any videos.
