I was commenting on the selfishness of this mother in particular with her child. Yes, for those who commented on my last posting, I know there are several older children waiting to be adopted and I'm not against that. I know life isn't fair since some parents give their children up for many different reasons, or some are forced to, or the parents died and the child ends up in the foster system.

For instance, who says that she chose to have sex? Rape could have been a factor. Would explain why she didn't seek help, and some of her motivation in what she did. The problem is even when people know enough about sex to wear protection, protection doesn't protect 100%. Wearing a condom isn't enough and even birth control isn't foolproof. This girl went to a Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus in a city I live in, she gave birth to her baby in the toilet and left it there, she didn't flush the toilet but it ended up getting hypothermia and a maintence lady found it that night. I agree totally with lizzygirl.. kids need to grow up more before they have a baby. I would suggest to all parents that they find a friend/family member that has an infant child (0-6 months) and let their teenage child (both son and daughter) experience solely caring for this infant baby. So that way, if they do have sex and know about contraceptives, they will take the necessary precautions to avoid a teenage pregnancy. They also need to know about STDs and AIDS/HIV. Parents, time to step up!!

I was commenting on the selfishness of this mother in particular with her child. Yes, for those who commented on my last posting, I know there are several older children waiting to be adopted and I'm not against that. I know life isn't fair since some parents give their children up for many different reasons, or some are forced to, or the parents died and the child ends up in the foster system.

For instance, who says that she chose to have sex? Rape could have been a factor. Would explain why she didn't seek help, and some of her motivation in what she did. Most children who are put up for adoption end up in foster homes which do no good for the child. Children in foster care are more likely to end up on the streets when they become adults. The problem is even when people know enough about sex to wear protection, protection doesn't protect 100%. Wearing a condom isn't enough and even birth control isn't foolproof. Bottom line is if you aren't ready for a baby, you aren't ready for sex. Stop taking it out on kids when you do have them. They didn't ask you to be irresponsible and get pregnant.

The same thing almost happened in South Carolina. This girl went to a Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus in a city I live in, she gave birth to her baby in the toilet and left it there, she didn't flush the toilet but it ended up getting hypothermia and a maintence lady found it that night. Surpringly, it survived and the lady is in jail. People are just CRAZY now-a-days!

There are two problems with this story. First, a mother murdered her own child. Second, a FOURTEEN year old had a child. My mother was a teen mom, but she put aside all her teenage wants and needs to give me a future. But she was older than this girl when she got pregnant. Parents need to feel more comfortable with sex education. We can't rely on the schools for everything. CHILDREN are having sex at younger ages and they aren't ready. It isn't that hard to stop CHILDREN from having sex.

I can only imagine the situation but I remember being 14 with absolutely no factual knowledge about sex. No one talked to me about my period less knowing sex. I fear for the children in our world. I agree totally with lizzygirl.. kids need to grow up more before they have a baby. I would suggest to all parents that they find a friend/family member that has an infant child (0-6 months) and let their teenage child (both son and daughter) experience solely caring for this infant baby. So that way, if they do have sex and know about contraceptives, they will take the necessary precautions to avoid a teenage pregnancy. They also need to know about STDs and AIDS/HIV. Parents, time to step up!!
