  • Technological advancement especially in the business world using Electronic Commerce has become threatening for us in different ways. MLarge media companies are mostly involved giving their data, or information to which stated in the video “force that are quietly getting strength”. Our information are revealed to business industries, those information are the key to make them create more powerful tools, computers, products, services, and others. We are really “Being watch by envious eyes”.

  • i laugh at the clippy scene in this

  • cool

  • your are right it is pretty prophetic

  • I think this is brilliant, I am actually studying Web 2.0 patterns for one of my university units and leveraging the long tail is one of them. I think this video is an interesting way to put it across.

  • woah, didn't that sound effect at 1:28 sound like Hiro Nakamura from Heroes teleporting???

  • I think you can download d the moov!e @ MOOV ZON . COM Google the above link

  • Great Video Cant wait for da movie to come out!!!!!!

  • Amazing...

  • This is great dude. I think I might watch it again and again and again just to push its views up and and ruin your quarters. Mwahahahhahaaha.... jeez i wish I could show that much commitment to something

  • Go ahead... I'd love to see this one pass 500,000. It's not my solo work. It wasn't even my original idea. I was part of a team. We had a budget. Bought stock footage. It wasn't just dedication. It was funding.

  • Well of course, having not seen this before, I had to come here thanks to your quarterly report.

And now, it's got at least one more view!

Hmmm.... maybe there is a method to your - uh - clevernes?

(Can't wait for the updated charts.)

  • Dude, there is a REASON this is your number one video.

    Awesome.

  • Thanks. (Actually, multiple reasons including the people I teamed with, the money we had to buy stock footage, and the fact that it was done in support of an important book about the way digital distribution is changing business.)

  • I, for one, think you should do more, even if you have to shoot your own stock footage.

Either that or more goofy stuff that you already have been doing.

  • @dangerouslytalented "stock footage" is "move footage from previously existing films, filed in film libraries or archives, which is incorporated into a new film" so you kinda don't film new stock footage...

  • awesome :D

I love how this video is about 3 years old, and some of the footage may or may not be older, but everything has changed so much! (and has not changed at all at the same time)

  • While it was posted three years ago, the video is over four years old.

  • I'll say the audience is up to something, nothing to do with content or videos, just code hacking.

Now there's a seed you could set to really make people feel uneasy.

  • That was a seriously clever (and seriously viral) video

  • A viral-video about the spread of things, which are viral in nature, dors require plenty of talent.

  • someone want to chat

    just moved new area Ak

  • fantastic

  • you made this video, mickeleh? it's very intriguing.

  • Yes. But not alone. It's a collab. And we had budget for buying a lot of stock footage. I talk about my partners in the info. The idea originated with Peter. Bob, who has a business producing corporate videos handled the production side. The three of us co-wrote it. It's loosely inspired by a book by Chris Anderson, editor or Wired magazine. We made it the summer that Spielberg's War of the World's came out, so that gave us our hook.

  • Whats this about?

    i dont get it ? :S

  • It's inspired by Chris Anderson's book "The Long Tail." Chris's book discusses the economic models of distributing content. It's now possible to move from having a few megahits controlled by a limited number of publishers to having thousands even millions of titles available all the time. YouTube is a big part of this revolution. We made this video from the perspective of the old line media companies who might view the Long Tail revolution as a threat.

  • HA- very nice (easy fiver)!

  • wheres the tail

  • Chris Anderson showed me this video today. Absolutely amazing! Although, I need to speak with the person responsible for making the video. It is of the upmost importance. Thank you.

  • Randy im watching u

  • omg i have to do a report on this movie!

  • Like Linux? Check out Open Solaris. Sun gets it.

  • True intelligence appears simple. Well done Chris Anderson

  • YEAH! go linux! hoo hoo! im usin it right now, and i love open source... windows sucks, it doesnt let u do anything cuz of digital rights management (linux just doesnt care)

  • Nice job! People want to find their own entertainment.

  • As predicted in this video, Tower Records just went out of business.

  • Sit quietly at your computer & continue clicking ... we control the bandwidth, the hardware & the financing ... for the next hundred years, we will control what you see, hear & interact with ... welcome to the Inner Sanctum!

  • Skyscrapers!

  • this should be the introdory video tour to youtube...here we come you bastards, we are taking our words, our art and our minds back from your medium and your message.

  • brilliant

  • that was GREAT - it take me a little time to understand, but yeah, i have never seen this kind of point of view..

  • the audience are athe people downloadeing things for free!!! their also forgian

  • Sweet. Good video.

  • pretty cool :)

  • Check out all my videos all of which I produced and let me know what you think. Been a video producer since 1982

thhanks in advance for your response.

    Best regards,

  • LOL IM TELLING YOU THIS "AUDIENCE" DOES NOT EXIST!

P.S. but im one of them^^

  • There is no audience...

  • Am...Great Vid?

Kind'a makes you wonna do smthing about it ...but I have tasted power ,I can't refuse...the darkside is strong !

  • they're COMING!!!

  • it's really very impressive...

  • Linux is being used on less than 2 percent of private computers. No blogs provide actual news coverage, merely analysis of events. 98 percent of homes have televisions... the number with computers and high speed internet access are considerably fewer.

  • wooooooooooooow

    men...this is crazy

    I'M SCAAAAAAAAARED:(

  • funny how theres even advertisements happending even in the responses to this vid lol. Great vid though :D

  • Great video! Very impressive.

I used it for my German website http://sankt-georg.info

    Keyword Longtail: http://sankt-georg.info/tag/longtail

  • it's not that simple...people still want good content and if 'old media' doesn't get paid for it, they won't create it. we need to help them understand the new world...and we should pay for good content and services.

  • They watching us.

  • ajk: ever heard of "free as in free speech, not free beer"?

  • lol both are good

  • uh. discontinuation of services? you can't rise up that way, dude. the audience is ignorant, and has no power.

  • Well done. The mainstream entertainment industry SHOULD be scared :) kat =^..^=

  • I quite liked the ole' tip o' the hat to War of the Worlds. Nice theme there.

  • Free is when you don't have to pay for nothing or do nothing. We want to be free. Free as the wind.

  • Until bloggers submerge themselves into the stories they cover, and question authorities rather than questioning the questioners, their voices are rendered as uninfluential as the next.

  • Although they're some of my favorite shows, the Daily Show and the Colbert Report make it seem like it's hip to be cynical. Not only do you seem to put yourself on a higher intellectual level, but you become a rebel. A dissenter. A patriot Bottom line: Jon Stewart wouldn't have a job if he didn't rely on the media for comedic fodder and for evaluating his own opinion.

  • The media is the watchdog of the government, so what does that make bloggers? The watchdog of the watchdog? Don't get me wrong, there are some valuable blogs out there written by people who don't have a bag of potato chips resting between them and the keyboard. But the majority is shit, and in no means an alternative to the media. Before the lot of you criticize me, ask yourself where does the skepticism come from and where does it lead to.

  • Too often, the media has been the lapdog of the government. Putting a watchdog on the media isn't such a bad idea. I'll agree that of the millions of blogs out there, only a small percentage are worth following. But, like YouTube, the bloggosphere has mechanisms for ranking, rating, recommending, and sharing the good stuff.

  • Let's first breakdown what a blog is. Shorthand for weblog, it's basically just that ... posts shared online for the masses. Anybody is able to write one at no cost, which already is a reason not to read them. You can be selective all you want, all blogs are inferior to media/newspapers. How so? Newspapers have the necessary funds -- and press passes -- to fly journalists to areas of interest to get the scoop.

  • Well, you make good points (if a bit stridently), but some bloggers sometimes (oh yes, only a very few and only infrequently) have access to information that "real" journalists do not. Further, journalists generally cover subjects, beats, and stories of interest mostly to mass audiences, while "bloggers" very often deal with the more arcane, obscure stories that are interesting only to niche audiences.

  • Further, in my 8 decades of experience, "the press" often approach a story with a particular narrative in mind. Reporters bring to their reportage a set of pre-existing storylines into which they (unconsciously, perhaps) fit the details of an event. This perpetuates cultural mythologies and prejudices. There's not much "new" in the "news" they tell , but a replay of shopworn, and uninspired storylines that don't challenge readers but reinforce assumed "truths." I think.

  • So those working in the "long tail" -- out on the fringe, for fringe audiences -- may cover stories that the mass press ignores and/or in ways that are incompatible with mass media. Room for both, I'd say. We DO need our cultural "truths" reinforced, but we also need them challenged from time to time. Don't you think, jbrowne1703?

  • The Press, of which you speak so highly, jbrowne1703, often covers politician's actions with a focus on what they might mean for the pol's re-election, rather than what they mean in and of themselves. It's a cynical view, and perpetuates the perception that politics is simply a game of power--and not "the art of the possible" affecting people's lives and livelihoods. Just one example of how The Press does the public a disservice.

  • What do bloggers do? Rely on these journalists to inform them, just like everybody else. And it's ridiculous that you call journalists the "lapdog of the government." For the exception of a handful reporters, newswriters are there to give an accurate depiction of the news. At press conferences, they pry for as much information as possible, impugning politicians directly. For better or worse, they are the ones who have to also contact the relatives of the slain.

  • And for what? Most journlists make less than 45K a year. You think people would trade in their values for that salary? And if bloggers aren't recycling the material real newspersons retrieve, they merely speculate. Speculation in itself, brings the value of news down. Now in order to kept afloat, many newsrooms are trading accuracy for quickness. That is the effect of blogs.

  • Well, by your economic logic, one could say that bloggers are hardly more apt to trade in their values for the zero dollars THEY make. Their work is, then, completely altruistic. I think you overgeneralize about bloggers. Certainly the vast majority of them are morons, but there are those worth paying attention to -- that is why The Press is so frightened, and why it tries (unwisely) to emulate bloggers and beat them at the bloggers' game -- rather than playing their own as best they can.

  • It's this perception -- or misconception -- of blogs that has the press running scared. When you suggest that bloggers are some band of crusaders or vigilantes, united to spread the unheard truth to the marginalized, and "altruistic"ly nonetheless, then not only are you making a blanket of errors, but you villanize the press that does a honorable job of informing you. For one, blogs aren't verified. No, they are usually put together with as much care and effort as a P&B sandwich.

  • Well I haven't said, "bloggers are some band of crusaders" nor that they are "altruistic." I don't tar, or gloss, all of them with the same brush -- as you have. I said, in fact, that "the vast majority of them are morons." But you denigrate them all, seemingly simply because they blog. I respect The Press, but I do not accept their work unquestioningly. Dan Rather's "expose" on Bush's military record? Questioned by bloggers and found false. And I'm no fan of Bush.

  • To even compare them to journalism, as this video has done, albeit poorly and inaccurately, denigrates the press to such disesteem. What kind of quality do you expect from something that is free? Poor quality and that is exactly what you get.And altruism should never be in the same line with bloggers.

  • Don't think this video says much at all about bloggers. It's more about disintermediation in general. Believing that "free" is inevitably poor quality is nonsense: my church services are free, conversations with my friends are free. Never say "never", jbrowne1703, it makes you seem as unreliable as you suggest all bloggers are.

  • Bloggers, as a general rule, are self-pretentious quidnuncs who seek only recognition by speaking in extremes and rely on either material founded by the press and/or their imaginations to compose there blogs.I am curious to know the instances where bloggers actually wield more access/power than those in the press. If you are referring to chance happenings, such as witnessing a carbomb outside their door or having Bin Laden knock on it. These apply to everyone.

  • Fact is, most bloggers simply repeat or link to the works of others, with or without comment. They usually just relay what they think interesting. Bloggers inside companies or organizations often report what The Press has not taken the effort to access, bringing it to the attention to the small audiences who care about it. Room for both mainstream press and blogs, I say.

  • LottaNutting, you can twist and mince my words all you want, but here's the thing: I'm not responsible for the creation of this video. By looking at your profile, it seems you have some interest in it. And for that I feel embarrassed for you; this video was supposed to rally the bloggers, but according to its rating, not even they think much of it.

  • No I have nothing to do with this video. I do think it is interesting, though. And I'm not sure it's all that much about bloggers as about the impact of the Internet on business. Some mention of bloggers, yes, but do you really think that's what it's about? Your words speak for themselves, I think. You value The Press over bloggers, I gather. Fine and well and good. I say, bloggers are not all to be dismissed.

  • By the way, LottaNutting, you never did back up your statementm, which said that some bloggers weild more access to info/the news than that of the press. Don't mince my words; answer it.

  • I said in some cases bloggers have inside information and I specified those inside companies and organizations who write about matters that mainstream journalists can't be bothered with. Please don't take my comments personally; I think I've been fair and balanced. Sorry you disagree. We simply disagree, I suppose.

  • As one of the filmmakers, I think the video is about the power technology gives the audience: formerly just consumers, they are now participants and have more choice and influence. They buy direct, talk back, skip commercials. The consequences of innovation are often unanticipated and traditional business has difficulty adjusting. Today Reuters has busted a Lebanese photographer for altering photos. It was brought to their attention by ... a blogger. Kudos to the blogger, and to Reuters.

  • The more well-known bloggers, such as Mike Dredge and Arianna Huffington, who do make a living off their blogs, may have more connections than a typical journalist, but access? I'm interested in hearing your explanation.

  • Blogging, in itself, is not an alternative to media. Most blogs are just responses -- usually not-well-thought-out ones -- to some sort of media. As a whole, blogging is hurting the public, not just because it cuts into media companies revenue and costs reporters jobs, but because bloggers are half-wits that opine on either things that don't know or things they think they know since they watch and regurgitate the Daily Show.

  • The trouble with your analysis is that you can't tell the audience what's worthwhile or not. They have to tell you. It's not going to be either blogs or mainstream media. It's turning into a new mix of both. Some attention and money will leave the big hits and feed the long tail. It's just a question of how soon and how much.

  • Check out the hottest up and coming hardcore rapper Kristyle....everyone in the street and in the music industry is chasing him. Watch as he take over Billboard No.1 in 2007...be the first to hear this artist.
