    Un batelier du Rhin

    Jean-Pierre

  • ingram builds some monsters, thats for sure

  • what year built at st. louis ship i worked there 77 to 81 believed worked on constructing this M.V, WE BUILT THE BEST .

  • @b6pak She was built as the J.S. McDermott for FBL in 1976

  • I rode for Orgulf Transports in 1989-90.Excellent outfit to ride for.Dick Conerly is now the Martha Ingram.

  • cavitation issue more of a design...er redesign problem.

from 4 fluters to 5. more hp new nozzles

they are fighting each other for water. also i think the nozzle struts have something to do with it

  • WELL I get to tear the dang floating pieces of rust up and back together again.

i dont know about building tow. i have a good understanding of what it would entail.

but you really oughta pull the wheels (props) off one and put em back on. thats fun stuff..

biggest wheel i ever hung weighed 11,000+ pounds... Thats a lotta stainless man.

  • had er on dock before, the engineer and capt are a lot cooler than on the martha.

i wonder if the bronson has the cavitation problems in the nozzles that the martha did.

(martha ingram used to be dick connerley)

  • Good Question being they are sister build. Did you all get the cavitation issue fixed?

  • When did they change the name. I was on the OH and the Bruce Brown back in the 80's

  • She was originally the J. S McDermott and was rechristened the E. Bronson Ingram in May of 2004.

The Bruce Brown was renamed the A. Steve Crowley but was sold by Ingram and is now operating on the Parana River in Argentina as the Estrella Del Litoral

The original O.. H. Ingram built by SLS is the Ocie Clark and still owned by Ingram. They still have a boat named O.H. Ingram that is a Dravo Viking class.

  • i seen her the other day in cincinnati i think

  • She surely was off her normal area of operation --she rarely ever gets above Cairo. Are you involved with the Anderson Ferry?

  • yes i did i used to work on there

  • i rode about 14 boats for ingram as a deckhand. tripped over alot. i broke my neck on my off time, so maybe i will be back next spring. kinda miss it, never thought i would but i do.

  • yea i got sick of people talking about the P.I hart. but it was cool to see when we passed it, right after it was "finished". the alarms were going off when it went by. never rode the bronson. been on the hortense b. ingram. thats about all of the lower i have seen. fun stuff

  • The E. Bronson Ingram was not lengthened, it was the Patrica I. Hart that was stretched and repowered.

  • I rode the Pat Hart for a trip and felt the after effects of the lengthening process. Chip, sand and paint was how i spent most of my time when we weren't on tow. I actually really enjoyed my experience though, and i find myself missing it from time to time.

  • Where the after effects of the lengthening process good or bad--Vibration?? How did she perform, pushing and handling after the modification?

  • Incredible, she rode like a dream. Interior was very comfortable and roomy, and i was certainly spoiled by it everyone on the boat had their own room and we had six deckhands. As far as handling goes, i think she handled as well as a towboat can. I worked as an inexperienced deck-hand so i was quite new to the industry.

  • Do Appreciate your reply. Are you still out there and if so what boat if I may ask!

  • Negative i am back in school took a few months off to go work for Ingram.

  • Those boats look good after they cut them in half and added the extra length. I've spent alot of time right through there when old hickory lock and cheatham lock were shut down back in 1999 on the Howard Thompson. Also used to ride the John Donnally and the Joe B Wyatt.

  • Those boats look good after being cut in half and that extra length put in. Used to ride the John Donnaly and the Joe B Wyatt.

  • Cool....CC

  • Cool vid.

  • Crounse Corporation.........CC

  • i am tryin to get on there fleet

  • Good Luck!

  • IronCurtain, I don't know how Florida Marine does it, but every company is different. I work at AEP on the Ohio River and its not too bad. Yes, building tow is hard work, but when you are building 15 for the Ohio River, there isn't as much work involved as building 40 for the Mississippi. I haven't met anyone I don't like at AEP. Everyone is cool, friendly, and very willing to show me the right way to do this or that. I have been on the river now for 5 months, and love it. Be safe, and have fun!

  • always loved working on aep boats.....so clean!

except susie cooney but everybody needs some strut aft luv once in a while

  • yeah iron curtain, get ready to work! especially if u doin any work on the lower mississippi. the heat in the summer is off the scale. u out building tow in 100 + degree temperature. a boat like the bronson will build tow up to 56 loads and woo woo if u got a bunch of drops and pick ups. some people love it, some people hate it to death. a good crew will make the difference

  • BLESSEY MARINE

  • Hey Ironcurtin, Don't let anyone fool you son. There is a lot of back breaking work to do on a boat. Wait till you get down on the Lower in the summertime and build about 30 or 40 to head north and the fleet guys only single everything up that they put together, if anything. Two days of building tow in Harrahan Flt. or down in Port Auther where the misqutos are as big as birds and you have to wear long sleaves in the 90 degree midnight heat. Good luck to you and stay SAFE!

  • i am going to be employed for florida mrine soon. i hear it is fun to do and not as hard as some people think. i don't expect a walk in the park but is this type of work reasonable?

  • My husband works for Ingram. Its a great company to work for.

  • i work at memco. given a little thought about switching to ingram though.

  • i work a ferry in cincinnati ohio

  • Hey, i was at that Christening, i helped repaint that boat. Awesome vid. Either me or my dad is in that vid at the beginning of it. I know its one of us cause we look the same. You may know us, im michael Morie, and my dad is Dale Morie.

  • I'm very sorry to hear your dad is dale morie .....

guess you cant pick em tho.
