i love this song because of my pop, and as me and my cousins carried out of the church this song was playing for my drinking buddy, my best friend, my pop
comeon now give the young fella abreak... all that matters is respect for an aussie legend !! i grew up with my dad playing this in his trucks, kinda hard to forget....
hey super damo.. which 1 of the 300 state managers bunkers have had in the last 12 months is your dad.......and the last thing i would do is brag about working at bunkers
god damn it, so i just watched this and ringer from the top end...fuck i miss the outback n cartin cattle, think its time to get back to workin on a station!
@PennyWalker82 - No sorry, it's not that one - thanks for your reply though. I think it was on the CD from which this song (Lights on the HIll) also came. Kind regards for your suggestion anyway.
That was a good video but if anyone can track down down the original video clip that came out with the song, it is definetly worth a look. Very ol school truckin.
As a fan of Slim Dusty's music there's a song of his I cant' find on YT, mainly because I can't remember its name. The song is about an aboriginal warrior who's the last of his tribe - it's brilliant, even if a sad song.
@EarlJohn61 - Yes, you've got it, EarlJohn61! Thanks for that, can't seem to find it anywhere even here on YT, but at least I now have a name. Great work - thanks again and cheers!
this is for that special ex boyfriend of mine, morton if ur a truck driver in Brisbane u may know him, he is a truck driver himself and i would like to try and get him to talk to me, u know who u r love flick xoxoxox
I reckon his 50th was one of his best tapes really. I met him in Chillagoe a few times. This is one of his best songs, but try searching you tube for a song by Slim called öne truckies epataph"I would say it's his best but thats just what I think.
While you are all looking at the Road Trains, may I suggest that you look at the road itself. Can you imagine building this road in 110 degree heat? Well done Australia.
@chermole IF you are Australian you would know who he is. My assumption is you are a troll trying to get some sort of stupid ego trip out of stupid comments.
@chermole like its been said he was the king of aussie country music , i have met him twice in RL and he was one of the most repectful musicions ive ever heard
so if you dont like him then dont cooment on shit you fuckin know nothing about
great song, heard it first when i was in oz for a year, love the road trains, much bigger in real life,oz is the best place in the world, miss it loads, regards from ireland
...One of Slim's greatest...without these roadtrains the people of outback Australia would not get their supplies....great video thanks.......from a fair dinkum aussie.
Awesome graphics !! Uniquely Australian .. the landscape & the road-trains featured in this clip are breath-taking. Hard to imagine scenes like these anywhere else in the world .. save maybe for some of the desert country out in Arizona / New Mexico, USA. Yet another fabulous SD number .. written by Joy, his wife & peerless country-music songwriter in her own right ...
What a greeat piece of Real Australin History and Country music historyy im 22 seen him twice 94 fremantle rodeo and silver sans tavern mandurah in 97 on the 91 over 50 tour Slim you are a true Aussie Legend and icon we will never forget.
This song was written by wife Joy. They were driving through a rainstorm in the Blue mountains around Sydney when she got the idea. She put it on tape and Slim later erased it. and Joy was furious. Slim also reluctantly recorded it, and it was released by his record company after he had gone on tour. When his fans started saying how good his new single was, he was baffled. Until he called his record company to find out what was going on.
i never really got into slim when he was alive mostly because i didnt really hear much of him more into my usa country but after he died wow you do realise he was 1 of the greatest esp in trucking songs
.... I've also noticed that, when travelling on broken lines of the highway, if you're doing about `02 km/h, the dots flash by with each beat of the song in a 4/4 beat
Whenever I am coming home in the dark, I start this song about 5 minutes out from home ... I have to come over the crest of a hill and down a mountainside to reach home, and the lights of town are visible at the top of the hil. 90% of the time, I meet another car going the opposite way and the lights, coming up and over the crest of the hill, do blind me
I disagree with you, as does my great grandmother. Slim Dusty was not a great singer, his voice was average at best, however he was a brilliant story teller and it is a terrible shame that he could not live forever to impart his wisdom to generations to come.
yeswe will sadly miss this great aussie man thay called slim dusty.
