I keep trying to find a scene where Scarlett gives up her wedding ring to help the army and Rhett goes 'I know just as much it meant to you' or something! Cracked me up!
@charlotikalicious I believe the words were, "And you, Mrs. Hamilton [Scarlet]. I know just how much that must have meant to you." ....Something like that.
Margaret Mitchell, herself, said that EVEN Scarlett won,t use a hat when dancing- But later..seeing again the film, she was completely convinced that Scarlett MUST wears a hat with that veil- If not..this scene wouldn,t be the same- Scarlett is a widow..so the effect of the hat AND the large veil is stronger- Mitchell saw the movie, at least, 5 times- And she loves it-
The shot of the skirts floating with the waltz movements!!- They put the camera (in 1939 the cameras were as big as a refrigerathor!!) nearly in the floor!!- For me..one of the Best shots of GWTW- and there are many!!- Beautiful shot-actings, music, film, EVERYTHING!!-Carlos
Clark Gable couldn't really dance. He said that on the making of the movie. But I thought that he danced, to quote Scarlett "You do waltz divinely Captain Butler!"
@regulators88 They actually had to build a rotating stage for him. When they were dancing here, he was standing on it and it was making him look fluid while dancing. I thought that was interesting to find out =)
You HAVE to read the sequel called "Scarlett" by Alexandra Rippley... It's amazing ! Really ! We gradually see Scarlett, this stupid and selfish girl, changing in a good woman. Moreover, that book makes us travel a lot ! It's wonderful, try it ! And you'll see if Scarlett eventually make it up with Rhett ;-)
@23marygirl you should better read "Rhett Butler´s people" since the Margaret Mitchel´s foundation is ashamed of that book (and so am I for wasting my time reading it). The Scarlett in that book is not even a shadow of what Scarlett's supposed to be and don't get me started with the events in that so-called-sequell.
@TlalGalaxia I will ! =D I haven't heard about that sequel but be sure I will read it and tell you which book I've prefered. Thank you for telling me =D (Yet, I still love "Scarlett". ;) )
@SneakyRedPanda English teachers are making you read Twillight? what has this world come to?! I myself recently aquired Gone with the Wind and I'm around page 170. Scarlett's telling Ashley she loves him.

I can't imagine two other actors playing Scarlett and Rhett. They were just born to play this role. Love it

@RebaOkie55 Me too. But Clark Gable said that he felt exposed.
But all in all I still think that Clark Gable did a wonderful job!

@regulators88 OH YEA! He and Vivien Leigh made this movie! It would be so WRONG without the two of them!

@RebaOkie55 This movie wouldn't have made it without those two!
I can't picture it with anyone else playing Scarlett or Rhett! I hope that they never remake it!

@purpleizzie The first dance looks quite a bit like Scottish reeling, and believe me, both that AND waltzing are tremendously fun :)
