not exactly uncovered, just not covered with plastic, usually I cover things with a plate or something like that.. that day I don't remember.. and I cleaned the whole thing out about 2 months ago, and then found I had many many jars of sylt (jam?)
I guess its either chutney or jam or curry.. or some kind of veg now.. plus two jars of marmite for my son.
marmite is a food made in the Uk, developed in 1905.. it is basicly yeast cells after they died in the brewing process but has a very savoury flavour.. and is salty with a very strong taste..its high in many naturally occuring b-vitamins..and complex proteins. Its used as a broth or as a sandwich spread.
similiar to it in the fact that it was the inspiration to Vegemite.. only Marmite has more of a British colonies sort of past.. as it is more than 100 years in the making.. the word Marmite is derived from the french word.. for Cooking Pot..Marmite also has a different taste and more vitamins in it. My great grandfather ate it too!
its an aquire taste.. but you can get it in India, and in Jamica and other places which were former British colonies.. My son really loves it.. but I have to go to the UK to get it, because its too expensive in the shop here. I'm a vegetarian..so I won't even tell you about the comonly used sandwich spread is in Sweden (caviar in a tube!).. there is however a vegetarian substitute made with seaweed.. that even looks like fish eggs.
I had thought about asking if the Marmite texture was similiar to caviar. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm not into caviar either... or sushi... or escargo!!!
Maybe I should make an answer video to the "texture of marmite".. there is nothing like it, cos its kind of sticky.. and but not greasy.. not fatty.. because its the spent yeast that dies after the brewing process..the stuff they take out of the bottom of the vats only no alcohol and this gooey stuff is broken up with salt and makes it sticky.. not at all like caviar more like transparent brown cheese..after its melted. Nah nothing like that either.
We also have a free standing freezer as well!.. but I still have nothing organized..but lots and lots of things in the cabinet and such.. its an utter disaster area! :)
I think that your project was so brilliant is because not only can people interact with you, but it is a curiousity, isn't it? Thanks for sharing and giving so many people the chance to share! :)
