my xbox has one light flashing. unlike this video, my xbox does not put any thing on the screen, it has a instant red light once the console is turned on. i've looked around and have found nothing. can any expert tell me what the cause if this is?

Dont use the Towel Fix... It it NOT the hard drive! E74 = GPU Scaler Chip issue. My reccomendation is do the X Clamp replacement.

Here's what it goes like:

1 ring: Temporary harddrive error. Unplug the harddrive and plug it back in. If it doesn't work, take out the harddrive and let it cool down.

2 rings: Overheated. Just stop playing for a while you addict.

3 rings: Broken console to harddrive connection. Send it to Microsoft so they can fix it.

4 rings: Broken console/other: One word: DEAD. Buy a new Xbox because it will never work again.

Easy way and works for others...

First remove the memory cards on your xbox 360 even the one on top of your xbox 360. Then blow into it or clean it...Once you do..BOOM...it works...its just it cant read the memory...if it cant read the memory then it could not work since you have stuff in it...also it only works for E 68 users...the E 78 could do the same method as i told you...Be advised of the rings and try to disconnect and crap...NOT OPEN IT!! it will screw it up even more!

meh, it depends, it could cause of that, but i tryed EVERYTHING. I've fix an xbox before, what happens is there is a "x clamp" on the motherboard to hold the cpu and gpu down. when it over heats, the xclamps puts pressure on the motherboard witch causes it the flex. after a while, the cpu and gpu gets detached and the red rings occures.

It may not be in all cases, but mine was manufactured sometime in September or August of 08. It gave me one quadrant in August of this year, and then about two months later I got the E 74 error, and I sent it back. My "replacement console" just arrive today. It only took 8 days, and the cost of shipping, which was a little over 10 dollars. But just be as careful as possible with yours, perhaps you can avoid what happened to me.

is you get one red ring and the e74 error microsoft will fix it for free. go online to xbox support and when it says what you had choose the "I got the E74 error". i got mine fixed for free so i dont have to pay $100.

this is only a temporary fix. as soon as you play this xbox for a period of time after doing this, the rrod will come back. to fix this permenantly you will have to disassemble it and then perform the x-clamp mod. this is the only way to permenantly fix this error
