  • Those who complain about these guys "selling out" have never been offered an obscene amount of money for a couple of hours of work. And "non-mainstream" artists don't get these kinds of offers. Hell, I'd do it!

  • kerchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhing!!!!!!!!!!

  • what song are they singing?

  • I totally forgot about this commercial.

  • Bob Dylan is the only guy who can appear in commercials without looking like a total douche

  • Fucking salesmen now are they! "do a commercial and you're off the artistic role call forever!"

  • @shovingwords Amen to you and Bill Hicks!

  • lmao i was gonna say that aint Ryan Adams x]

  • my name is ryan adams

  • willie nelson FTW

  • He's SOOOOOOO CUTE

  • 0:18

    Why hello there, cutie.

  • Comment removed

  • Well, I suppose a man's gotta eat to keep body and soul together. Still wouldn't shop at the Gap, though.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • ryan & willie??????????I had no idea this existed even ..OH HAPPY DAY !

  • let's all focus on the important part of this commercial....Ryan Adam's is one sexy beast. he can sell me whatever the fuck he wants.

  • He was probably just short of money..

  • Hank Williams

    Move It On Over

  • If you lot are about done bitching over selling out, I'd like to know what song this is.

  • Hank Williams

     Move It On Over

  • Best commercial EVER.

  • It sounds like he's saying " I like the old fat bitches"

  • .... come toccare il fondo....

  • Whenever artists (especially decent musicians) do commercials, it just ruins them. The music's enough not to put yourself in cheezy tv ads. Pathetic and Cheezy.

  • 1. it's spelled cheesy. not cheezy.

    2. it's a good commercial, and ryan and willie are still awesome after doing it.

  • I would like to be reincarnated as a pair of Ryan's Jeans.

On Thanksgiving I would like to say I am Thankful for Ryan's Jeans.

  • Willie looked very enthused to be doing that commercial.

  • i cant belive ol willie did a Sweatshop commerical

  • I can't believe you spelled 'believe' wrong.

  • that kinda totally misses the point...

  • what does ryan say?

  • He says "I like the old standards".

  • I admittedly squealed and giggled like a schoolgirl at that devilish smile at 0:17 .... DAMN, Mandy Moore is one lucky gal!

  • *swoon*

  • @golddustwoman83 me too, my boyfriends name is ryan. im gay

  • A young Ryan Adams

  • Well that made me feel a bit...wrong and dirty on the inside.

  • a lost highway connection.

  • i only saw this commercial on tv one time, and i loved it. ryan adams is so amazing.

  • I like both. Two great musicians!

  • he thought was ethical or not for him and this commercial. i don't neccessarily think it was a great idea but live and let live. its there in front of us now but if you don't agree then you really don't have to watch it. it is just a commercial in the scheme of things, he is not selling his soul.

  • I prefer Calvin Klein Jeans myself but Ryan Adams is the man no matter what kind of jeans he wears!!

  • COOL!

  • Best commercial ever.

  • Every musician has the right to do with his songs whatever he want. And this commercial is perfect.

  • umm 0:18 whatt is that... ahahahah

  • shoving words, shut up. This is a great commercial- two genius songwriter -singers endorsing a product. That doesn't make them any less genius or less talented. Ryan Adams can do no wrong musically, I don't care WHAT he endorses. And Willie is an icon.

  • amen.

  • On the sellout subject...don't musicians deserve a house they can be proud of too? I mean, it makes sense when an a-hole stock broker get's a 3 million dollar yacht but if a musician (who has struggled to become successful) occasionally does a commercial so he can enjoy the labor of his work, get's a hard time about it...well, I don't think it's fair. He's selling music on itunes (which his label profits the most from) and he sells music this way for himself. I mean, it's Gap. Its not a big deal

  • I'd like to think that millions of people buying records, thousands of people paying for live performances, merchandise... would pay their way in the world. It isn't a big deal to you, stefshock, but to me, it is. We disagree but I appreciate your opinion. can I suggest you and others type "bill hicks artistic roll call" into youtube.

  • hey, do you remember Jay Bennett needing to sue Wilco when he didn't have the money to pay for knee surgery because he didn't have any health insurance? After Uncle Tupelo and Wilco he probably would have been a billionaire huh?

  • Ryan Adams did a gap commercial? Oh for fuck's sake!!! that's it! I quit!

  • who cares? he did a gap commercial, maybe he actually likes the jeans! its not like he is selling his soul! he likes jeans, we all know that, he wears jeans, so why not!

has he now turned into a crap musician?............ wait.........um.........no hes still amazing!

    whatever!

  • it's not about jeans. It's about an "artist" becoming a "salesman". selling his songs and himself also means he's selling my memories of his songs. It's sad and depressing for me to think of artists I respect doing that, and, you either get it or you don't. you either agree with it or you don't. for me... well, I said my piece above. thanks for your comment though. I appreciate it.

  • i do understand where you are coming from, but songs are used for things like this, they are. and i just think that for ryan, he is obviously not taking it too seriously. it is just something else, if it is not a big deal to him then why bother letting it get to you when the man works so fucking hard and comes out with consistent work all the time. i don't think he probably went into what

  • he thought was ethical or not for him and this commercial. i don't neccessarily think it was a great idea but live and let live. its there in front of us now but if you don't agree then you really don't have to watch it. it is just a commercial in the scheme of things, he is not selling his soul.

  • he sang about 10 seconds of a Hank Williams song, so he's not selling "his" song. if anyone thinks that all the money from shows, merch, album sales, goes straight to the musician, they're very wrong. Ryan's worked his ass off for over 10 years at this, and with all the pirated downloads and filesharing, not to mention tour expenses and paying the middlemen, sometimes a commercial is the equivalent of us getting a PT job to pay the bills. He's not selling himself, he took a job.

  • Well said.

  • @shovingwords all artists are salesman, they sale themselves with every song, album, magazine cover its all the same. It doesn't change anything if he does a commercial. These people aren't gods they make music, Music isn't THAT big a deal

  • it may not seem that big a deal to you but to some ppl its like a drug. and a musician is only a salesman if theyre in it for the money. but considering i dont listen to mainstream music i wouldnt know of any musicians who are salesman. and no its not all the same. im actually an audio engineer from nashville and i know all about the business. your post is an opinion. not a fact. most ppl dont even know who the hell ryan adams is. and he donates nearly everything he makes. so hes far from sales

  • Ryan Adams is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute and hot i LOVE him<3<3<3<3<3<3<3i love him sooooo much his voice is amazing too

  • two of my favorite musicians :)

  • funny. throw in a summer of 69 joke why dont you? dumbass,

  • when he flashes that smile...MAN i'm his....;) or wish he was...

  • Why is everyone whining about Ryan Adams doing commercials? It doesn't change the fact that he makes darn good music. I wouldn't pass up a chance to make a couple extra bucks either.

  • Well said

  • it does change the fact! that's the point! if, like me, you're someone who cares about this "sellout" issue, it matters a great deal and changes a lot. I have memories of songs, when these artists sell the songs (or themselves for that matter) they are also selling my memories... I wasn't aware of this ad until tonight and I kinda wish I hadn't seen it cause I love Ryan Adams. Brighteyes, Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan... I guess it's inevitable.

  • He's beautiful.

  • I'm going to practise how to smile like ryan in this video.

  • that's how you get the ladiezzzzz.

  • I like it.

  • ...jesus.

I love him + his crotch in this

  • voodoochili12 (1 month ago) Show Hide -2 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Unless Adams did this because he desperately needed money to fund one of his albums... for shame. Music and commercials don't belong together. Not that I had much respect for Beyonce Knowles, but her shitty club-rap commercials about upgrading to HDTV definitely make me hate her now.

Music and commercials don't belong together?!?!?!

    Sincerely,

    Peanut Butter & Jelly

  • they say this the first rock&roll song...

  • man.. hot commercial.. the smile Ryan Adams does makes even me blush. so simple yet amazing.

  • haha.

why does everyone hate ryan for doing this?

    its a commercial for jeans.

and its with willie nelson, who's a legend, like it or not.

    i'd have done it too.

plus i love ryans smile at 0:17

  • good lord i agree about that smile, it makes me fucking melt, haha

  • Smile is at 0:18. It's only gonna make you love me more.

  • His crotch at 0:18

  • He could sell out hardcore and i wouldn't care, because its him and I think he deserves to be rich. Hes not punk you knw.

  • What do you care? Commercials aren't any different than a music video, appearance on an awards show, or anything else that celebrities have to do to preserve their status (and income). I bet you cut more "moral" corners to make a living than these guys do.

  • snicker

  • why is everyone so stupid? its an advert, maybe he just like jeans haha?? plus he's a genius and pretty hot!

  • how long ago was that? i feel like i remember that vaguely. why does willie nelson look exactly the same. as long as i've been alive he's always looked like that, and i don't think i've ever seen him young.

  • haha true....20 years ago i think he had more wrinkles... how old is he now...i heard on the radio... 213... can somebody reply me his true age...dont tell be its under 100...cuz then your just kidding around and being a joker

  • 0:18

  • they are promoting sweatshops?

  • WTF?

  • Fucking hell

    ryan is better than this

  • Shit....I just watched the whole of this, couldn't face it earlier, and fuck me if Willie Nelson isn't on this shit as well. I think today is the day I take up smack.

  • I like this lads music but what a tosser. Never thought he'd be doing commercials...how much money does a person need? Just waiting for one of his songs to be on a poxy Nike advert.

  • you cant blame the guy for taking a paycheck. i saw him back in october and it kicked ass.

  • a lot of you need to grow up and get over yourselves. its just a fuckin commercial.

  • Nooooooooooooo!

  • Engligh! what does that mean ??? yank!!!

  • Geez Louise! Ryan Adams is so beautiful!

  • why?

  • That is utterly depressing.

  • well...ryan adams is the one who made me buy meself a guitar again after smash it some years ago but i just hate musicians doin FUCKIN GAP COMMERCIALS...MATE RYAN I FUCKIN LUV YA BUT YOU CAN FUCK OFF.

  • can't wait to see them in the christmas commercial!

  • these jeans suck haha, but bood commercial

  • Hey show Willie some respect, he's written more great songs than most of today's country artists. Ryan Adams is a great talent, and Willie respects him for that. It takes more than a crotch shot to make a real star.

  • GAP cash it on CHILD LABOR! Don´t buy at GAP!

  • labour?

  • Either spelling is correct. Well, 19Val's is the American Engligh spelling, while yours would be the British English spelling. Not sure what your point was, really.

  • Damn, he's hot!

Oh, and Ryan Adams ain't too shabby either....

  • lolz it wasnt the artists who inspired ppl to buy the jeans its the unapropriate crotch shot that did it!

  • i really hope you're kidding...willie nelson isn't worth shit compared to ryan adams..dudes brilliant

  • amen

  • What the fuck is radiohead?

  • you really are an idiot.....

  • well you know your bands well

  • they should call this video 'another tragedy of capitalism' Total SHIT. Depressing downer...

  • oh fuck off , Musicians have had to give away enough free music over the last 5 years, why shouldn't they get a couple of hundred grand off GAP or Coca Cola?! this is not the 80's or 90's anymore, there is no excess bar rap music. musicians have to be business clever to survive, people who try and maintain their 'integrity' are normally not capable of making it in the mainstream anyway and realize they have a niche market. watch the radiohead documenary 'you are a target audience'

  • i love this ad. and pretty sure ryan looks like he enjoyed it hahah

  • Andrew, get some sleep! I'm glad (I guess) that you were just "fishing?" Ryan Adams is fantastic live!

  • Yea, i have seen ryan live, was going to see Nelson live but tickets sold out really fast. Some Ryan in Glasgow last year, really good, but I wish i could have seen him in Whiskeytown/early solo years cause i dont think easy tiger is that great.

  • sorry spelling mistake *bait. It's late at night.

  • Who is the sellout? Ryan or Willie? Anyone who want to rip either of these guys have absolutely no idea about music. Amazing what retarded posts on this! Some of you have an IQ of a fish!

  • In reply to my post "fucking sell out!" I was fishing and I think some people took the bate, hook line and sinker.

  • fucking sell out!

  • no, not really...

  • Willie's cool, but I love this video for Ryan. I just have to pause it on that smile. His quirkiness totally attracts me.

  • actually ryan loves gap jeans and wears them all the time even went on a campaign a while back to stop the gap from using sweatshops to make their jeans. and since condiditions improved....

  • enough with the sellout comments. So what the man needs to make some money because everyone steals his music on the net. Go by a fucking record and some concert tickets assholes

  • First time he'll ever put on a pair of gap jeans? and im guessing the last? Sad to see, no better way to lose musical integrity then put ur face in a commercial. But hey...won't stop me from listening to the fantastic music he makes.

  • was going to say the same thing mateus said... in a sarcastic way.

  • i think you have a secret man crucsh cause you have comented every ryan adams video! congrats you dont have a life!

  • So if some body likes the Beatles or Mettallica too much are they gay aswell??

you are an asshole, you also must have watched every ryan adams video to notice his comments ..how gay and life-less are you yourself ..or are you jealous???

  • Aww. Ryan's cute.

  • sellout, haha

  • which one? plus its only selling out if you preach about not selling out. Punk bands are the real sell outs.

  • I was referring to Ryan Adams, but I wasnt't forl real anyways, hehe!

  • sell out would be beyonce in every commercial on tv, ryan adams...not so much

  • yeah, I was just kidding.

Beyoncé has no personality at al..

  • amen to that! plus she can't make jeans look as good as ryan does, man advertisement does work!

  • haha true.

  • ryan looks hot in those jeans!! ha

  • Beyonces great have you seen the videos where shes just being silly with destinys child, they seemed fun and normal, this was while she was younger not sayin shes not like that anymore but im sure she just doesnt show it to the cameras

  • Bryan Adams isn't his father, idiot.

And if you like Bryan Adams more, chances are you have horrible taste.

  • Hey svaneholm5, you got nothing better to do than writing your little "witty" comment on every Ryan clip. I suggest you go to your local bank or atm machine, get some money out and buy yourself a life.

  • he cleans up well

  • I could not agree with you any more, he is really sexy in the video!

  • seriously hes too sexy!!! and ryan's okay....jk

  • that little half smile ryan gives is the sexiest thing i've ever seen

  • he really is adorable, but he needs to loose that hot mess of overprocessed fried blonde stuff he's got for hair now. Ugh! Not flattering.

  • This is much better than his drunken rendition of "Down In a Hole".

  • I like both them of them a LOT but there's no tap dancing around it. I don't care what charity the proceeds went to or whatever this is shameless, unadulterated bullshit. So is Bob Dylan doing Cadillac ads. Stop canonizing rock stars.

  • you know what, for an artist like Ryan Adams who still lives in an apartment who hasn't really had a big radio hit that was performed by him... let him make some money. Indie snobs are not paying the bills, he has to.

  • You know I thank you for offering this web

site some views that have some substance to them. Radio hit or not the guy is one of the few talents out there. funny how everyone feels someone who is 35 or any or 40's age must have the hit or arrive. In truth life is a series of journeys and I am sure he's having a blast and yes SOMEDAY he will rise to the top where he should be lol i.e letter man show but still he will making music when he is 90 in that apartment and it will be all good.

  • Oh come on take a look at some of the stuff the Who did. What about Bob Dylan going on Starbucks record lable. THis is nothing.

  • seriously this is nothing

  • Makes jeans seem alot cooler than they really are...

  • "People would probably call it selling out, id call it a 30,000 payday" RA

  • Haha. And I thought my brother just made this up.

  • ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNFG I LOVE HIM

  • ryan's smile at 0:17 is just insanely hot.

  • I melt every time.

  • what willy?

  • love them hate the gap

  • I've never properly understood why people get so uptight about these sorts of things. Yes, its an advertisement; yes, its media .... ( insert pretentious, uptight deep quote here about selling out to the man). Personally, I think its great for Adams and Nelson to cross paths...it proved to flourish their music endevours with the release of Songbird in '06. Cheers to this.

  • get over yourself.

  • I can imagine you are the type of person who "likes a bit of everything" when it comes to music.Opinions scare you and you'd sooner blend in with everything.Otherwise people may think you're weird!!

  • LOL! You're absolutely right, opinions scare the hell out of me. I'm shaking in contemplation of making that firm opinion public.

  • All i'm saying is that you come on here expecting to fall in love with Ryan Adams and his wonderful principles when to be honest, you're losing sight of it being about the music. If you care so much about him 'selling out' then maybe it's best you stuck to someone who's gonna be a more dependable role model for you.

  • And if we're gonna psychoanalyse each other, i suggest that you like to think you care more than everyone else about morality but it's real like a plastic bouquet my friend. Go donate to the 'save the whale' appeal and stop displaying your 'divine right' over musical criticism.

  • There is no divine right.I made a comment about an artist(as it has being with humans since the beginning of time to comment on each other e.g.your comment about my comment)I know a whale that did a gap add so i won't be donating to that!!Lets leave it there..?

  • please spare us your home brew, self indulgent musical psychology .. righteous git ..
