  • olympic weightlifting has two lifts the clean and jerk and the snatch. What you just seen is the snatch. Search for some videos on both lifts so that you can see the difference.

  • @SeeLachZ He's lifting using his legs, not his arms, if his arms are farther apart he doesn't have to lift the weight as high. If they were closer, he'd have to be a lot stronger to get the weight up.

  • @SeeLachZ It's called the "snatch". And, it would actually be much more difficult to throw the weight over the head in one clean motion with the grip narrow. There is a reason why they lift this way in competition...

  • Snatch is a pretty good exercise. Quite a lot of people I know had trouble snatching at first with even the 10 pound weights at the beginning. Those look like the 44/45 rubber weights on the sides. No joke(pressure on the shoulder joints).
