oh my god . these people MATTER.....yes ny dolls...but when your brother ( 1 year older than me )brings this home we go see the stranglers , purple hearts etc....it all kicks off.....thankyou....xxxx
kevinherbert, you say that the saints lack musicality, well what do you think is musical i would like to see what you have to say. you obviously have very high standards and if you knew anything about punk music and music in general you would have no problems understanding the DIY mentality, unfortunatly you dont and i pity you for your weak attempt at showing any understanding of music culture.
the saints had more musicality than most of the punk acts of the day, up there with the clash. that's why they got bored with punk and went in a more r&b direction...then broke up :( sorry that's my spew but it's fairly obvious kevinherbert dosent know shit about this band.
This is weak arsed anti-establishment,fringe theatre shit played by Brisbane school boys. It was then & it is now, notwithstanding its latest milking by Messrs Creswell & Gud4notmuchski.
Nothing's changed in 30 years..every art school nobody wants to be on stage..no-matter how friggin woeful they are...Their angle? Hey!! we could make our total fucking lack of musicality our strongpoint!!! Yeh...and when that fails we can go into advertising!!!
Opinions on the quality of Music are purely subjective but I love the raw energy of bands like the Saint's, their contemporaries like the Ramones and their predecessors like the Stooges. You attack them for being "school boys" wanting to hit the stage. I personally can't see anything wrong with that and love the DIY music concept. Whether it be music or sport, I am more entertained by an amateur with passion than a pro going through the motions.
You'll really have to brush up on your English grammar if you want to make a point...but don't know if anything can be done about your total lack of wit...
who are yu kevin? how's about you come down from your pony, quit picking on people you think are your lessers and poke yourself in the eye with a stick, cos that's what EVERYONE who has the misfortune of coming across your big-heaged comments really want to do. Showing off your knowledge of inner-city 80's bands. Yeah, we know - you were there, man! Possibly, you FREAK.
You've obviously got problems trying to express yourself...how about you try again, this time leaving out the attempted vitriol.....where do the Saints actually fit into Aussie culture?...I think they're a con by record co. publicists. We're all waiting for your response.......
Nobody can really be to fucking sure anyway.. either way you look at it these guys wrote a lot of great songs and who wouldn't be an angry motherfucker in Brisbane in the late 70s.. it was (and is starting to become again) a police state. Gah. I think they are an important band.
Nice to know it's on DVD, if it means further avoiding latter-day SBS. Good going with the Telstra ad on the credits. You'd think one could come up with more than four albums with that kind of money.
This is from the Great Australian Albums series, which you'll be able to buy on DVD in the shop on the SBS website. The series starts with the Silverchair episode on July 28. The Saints episode screens on August 18. Details are on the great australian albums page on myspace.

Did you know that the USA was infiltrated by aliens in 1958. They now occupy some of the US's top public posts.

Jazz is the last refuge of the untalented. Jazz musicians enjoy themselves more than anyone listening to them does.
