They are creatures more of learned behavior than instinct, and they have social instincts as well... members of lion prides don't eat each other just because they've gone a few days or weeks without food, don't underestimate their willpower or capacity for love. The danger is that she could kill her caregiver accidentally by playing too rough, or kill a stranger, especially a child.

People say this wouldn't happen in the wild but I still wonder. Lions used to roam ALL of Africa and most of Europe once upon a time, they were also found in Asia. Tigers roamed Europe and Asia. Maybe they did meet, maybe they did breed. Obviously their offspring couldn't adapt like their parent species or else we'd have ligers around today. But all I'm saying is....it can happen. It's happened with wolves and coyotes and I'm sure with other species too. Wish we had a way to find out.

@grandexandi there's a difference. if you cross a dog with a totally different kind of dog, it's all right, but this is like crossing a horse with a mule. they can't have cubs, and I think the anatomy of a tiger is somewhat different from a lion. ligers usually don't get very old as well.

It is a successful pairing, and while it isn't "natural" neither are mules to my knowledge. they are a crossbreed of a horse and donkey, and while there are occurrences of defects in the breed. just look at all of the domesticated breeding we do, many breeds suffer from similar defects yet we still continue and no one complains about that.
