I'm not sure, but I think the lonely island was around before flight of the conchords started on TV. I wouldn't be surprised if FotC was an influence on them though. Love watching this, especially as I'm a big fan of West End Girls by Pet Shop Boys too. It's a brilliant homage to it, not just musically but in the video as well!

Flight of the Conchords are the only musical comedy band I really like, because they walk the line perfectly between slapstick and plain awkward comedy. Not many musical comedians get that right, and most of them end up going way over the top.
