Besides anything that you've heard of probably is consumerist anyway-otherwise how did you hear of it? And what are you doing? Consuming.

I thought it was hilarious, Clone High is melodramatic as the HP movies ended up being-very funny choice!

I'll watch it again looking for an ironic twist (which I admit I may have overlooked, as some genius artwork has been in the past). To say that everything is consumerist because it can be consumed is a platitude of sorts and fails to capture the point of the original argument. The term I used was consumer whore. I do not exist to consume, it is a by product of existing. Collateral damage if you will. However, I do not consume everything and anything, which is what a consumer whore does.

I just died a little inside. Clone high was/is fantastic. HP is for consumer whores that don't know that there is nothing original about it (and/or are too young/stupid to realize none of it makes sense). So you just took something fantastic and dressed up in consumer whore clothes and pimped it out for 2 dollars a night. I really think I hate you.

Clone High is just as consumerist. It's aim was just for a different audience. It's just how things are-they're made to be consumed, so let people enjoy what they enjoy and don't rank on something because it sells well, so long as the audience genuinely likes it. Because sucess is bad and "selling-out", right? It's not as if it is just sharing a good thing to more people. Yes, moeny is involved, but why do you think Clone High was canceled when it was?

You may have a point, but I think there is a difference between the ability to be consumed and being made for the sole purpose of making money, ie consumer whorishness. I don't rank on things just because they sell well, I rank on things that should not sell well but do so in large part to bad taste on the consumers end. The epitome of this can be seen in Gundam Wing, an awful anime series which made gobs of cash, yet even the creator said it was terrible but made it to illustrate how people buy

To finish, Clone High didn't spread till after it was canceled. because it didn't make money it was canceled. So not making money ruined a good show... but when a show makes money it is bad?

It may not be your taste, which is fine. But don't knock things for being consumerist, as that is just ignorant.

I loved clone high while it was on television, though this is not a case of sour grapes. I am glad when things that deserve credit, glamour, money etc are recognized as such. The first matrix movie for instance. Second and third ones....well that a whole other rant.

Just to bring this about though, I think you might be mixing terms. Consumeristic is descriptive of the culture at large, not of the product produced as they all have the ability to be consumed and this is NOT why I knocked it.
