Hexameron, I've been looking at some of your uploads, thinking what a revelation they are. You have been introducing so many people to new composers. These people will buy the CD not just listen to it on youtube, so I think it is such a shame for copyright laws to be used against you. There are a number of composers names I have written down just tonight from listening to your channel, that I will be buying shortly. Authorities: take note.
I just discovered your channel a month ago and have since bought two CDs of Auerbach's work (including the piece in this video) and two of Mosolov. Without those selections from Preludes, Op. 41, I don't know how I ever would have come across Auerbach and now I love her works.
@AnarchoHumanist I have just discovered her to-day, and I ~love~ her works. I especially enjoy the piece in this video, and I do not know the name of it. I did not even know who it was before reading your comment. Upon reading it, I listened to every Auerbach piece that I could find, and, though they were all magnificent, none was this piece. If you could give me the name, it would be very appreciated. Thanks.
@Divinemetal This piece is a movement called "Nach dem Krieg (Das Totenfeld)", or "After the War (The Field of the Dead)" from her "Bilder der Kindheit", or "Images from Childhood". I highly recommend the Preludes for Piano, Op.41 and the Preludes for Violin and Piano, Op.46 as well if you like Auerbach.
@AnarchoHumanist Thanks so much. That is a perfect name for this piece. I actually speak German; I find it a very poetical language. Are her titles always in German (I have only found preludes, which is the same in most languages)? Is she Russian, or have I misread?
@Divinemetal I have sheet music for this particular set of miniatures, and all the titles are in German, Russian, and English--though I'm not sure whether she gave all of them, or if the publisher gave translations. She is indeed Russian, but has studied in Germany and the US.
I would like to personally thank you for introducing me to a huge array of composers who are now some of my favorites. I have bought seven CDs because of the music you uploaded.
Do you really want to know why they removed your music?
Classical music as soon today as something "abnormal" in mainstream. It wasn't about those copyright laws. Your government wants to keep you as ignorant as possible by removing "real" great music to keep you ignorant. They want the masses to listen to rap, not classical. They don't want this sort of music being known anymore.
I haven't made an "official" announcement about this, but despite Hexameron being retired, I have moved my uploading activity to a new channel: musicaignotus
I have figured out a way to carry on Hexameron's legend without copyright issues. I will dedicate my time to learn these rare musical wonders.I do indeed know where to find them.
It is sad to know that you have had to 'retire' your channel because of some silly copyright issues YT has so suddenly brought up now a days. I remember when it wasn't half as strict as it is now.
@dreed1000 well how you you feel if you spent time and money paying for a piano, recording studio, etc and paid a performer to record some works, paid to have a bunch of cds made, and then see little sales but thousands of views on youtube? kind of cheap if you ask me.
I understand your point of view, but I don't believe youtube is robbing from classical music record sales. People still buy the CD after hearing the music on youtube, just as they will a DVD after seeing the movie in theaters. I've bought CD's of music I heard from the SWMD, John11inch, and NewMusicXX channels; and I know others have.
I've received several PM's from individuals who bought both volumes of Feinberg's piano sonatas on the BIS label after they discovered the music on my channel.
Just because some good music's on YouTube doesn't mean people won't buy the CD. I'm about to buy a Mosolov recording that I never would have learned about and wanted to buy if it weren't for Hexameron's videos.
@celach youtube postings are my musical education and have made me spend far more money on buying cds than I did before - I would like to see the statistics of cd sales dropped because of youtube - maybe free MP3 downloads and new technology - but not youtube postings....
@strav12 That doesn't make it legal. You make it sound like people never discovered music before youtube, or the internet, existed. People listened to classical music on the radio, or went to concerts, and exposed themselves to it legally.
Maybe you buy CDs, but just go to any other popular classical video, and there are ten comments saying "WHERES DOWNLOAD???". it's nice that you yourself purchase CDs, but don't make it sound like everyone does cause you have no statistics either.
@celach That shows quite a bit of ignorance regarding the music posted on this channel. How can you expect to hear Feinberg, Alexandrov, etc. on a mozart and chopin-spewing radio' or in a 'concert' nowadays? Many of us would not have gotten to listen to these works in our entire lives without this channel, much less bought them. Besides, you could use your argument for 'legal' pop music videos and live concert footage as well on youtube, but I don't see that stopping sales.
@strav12 Also, "maybe free MP3 downloads and new technology - but not youtube postings.... "
You do realize there are a bunch of websites people use to extract the audio from a youtube video, right? I think the most popular is YoutubeDroid, where you literally just paste the video url and you get an mp3...
Cannot believe it! I have seen the way YouTube works, it has so called fingerprint technology to identify the tracks and send some of the income it gets from the ads on youtube pages to the labels. Am surprised that this does not work with your channel, probably these were the labels which Google has no agreement with.
I will resolve copyright issues and try to make the great music you shared with us accessible to everyone in my project ParaClassics. Will be happy to collaborate with you.
This is a great loss indeed, and shows the stupidity of the copyright law. There needs to be a better system to compensate creativity - one which would encourage the widest possible dissemination of works.

Ok, it won't let me post the URL, but look up: "One of the most dedicated and diligent sharers of classical music, a man who has spent countless hours uploading over 330 videos of little known music, is having his youtube channel shut down due to copyright laws. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I've never even heard of Reddit, but I wrote my response there.
It's important to understand that my channel is not being shut down...yet; it's just getting riskier to upload anything else without incurring further warnings or threats from CD labels.

I'm really feeling for this, I know you had so much passion for this, Hex.
Hexameron, thank you so much for the almost public utility work you've done for the music in general. It's such a pitty this channel be shuted down. Best regards to you.

Les chaines de Hexameron et Scriabinwasmydad ont élevé la qualité de Youtube , et lui font honneur !
Dear Hexameron,
It is a bad new to know you have these problems.
Let us know if all the people who like me appreciate your channel can submit a petition, to argue that the application of copiright on such a context is not relevant.
Well, after Scriabinwasmydad, Hexameron is now closing. This is particularly sad news ... I understand copyright contraints and I understand that interprets should be paid for their performances but paradoxically, I bought many more CDs thanks to Hexameron's channel than ever !
i can't believe youtube.....piano channel going to retire because of the copyrighted issues and youtube issues, YET I CAN YOUTUBE murder, rape, sexual assualts, bombings, terrorism, ect ect with ZERO problems.
but your peaceful and classy piano channel has to retire, as the days and months go by and more and more channels are becoming destroyed I see youtubes future and it isn't looking bright.
I hope and prey for you and your love for the piano I have watched many of your videos so thanks
Truly disappointed... Thank you so much for everything you have posted hex, as others have probably shared the music your channel brought me into contact with has truly changed my life. Blessings to you! Thank you for your work it is truly honorable.
Those record companies and score publisheres are stupid!!! Do that know that I, for instance, have purchased more than 10 CDs and 10 scores just because of your channel?
You should just let them know.
What you have done to promote these under-appreciated composers is invaluable. Let us know your future ventures, and we will continue to support you!
what is the point of these copyright laws if their becoming counterproductive! Because of many of your videos, i have spent $500+ dollars in the last month or two on music alone. Money that would have never been spent otherwise. Hexameron, you are the reason why i have become exposed to music that has changed my life dramatically. Many of the composers i had never known before. I will always look up to you as someone who changed my life for the better.
This is very sad news indeed as your channel has greatly enriched my musical life. It's exceedingly unfortunate and counterproductive that the copyright holders take this approach -- I've spent hundreds of dollars on music on music solely as a result of your channel. Now finding such high-quality new music will be that much more of a challenge.
Thank you for all the effort you put into this channel, it has been very much appreciated.
As far as I understand the concept of copyrights, a classical piece of music is not protected because it's considered as public domain after a long period of time... however the persons playing the music can claim copyrights for their interpretations.
I was sure you did play the music by yourself and the partitions was classified as public domain long time ago, so for me this copyright issue is a shocking news.
Your channel has been an incredible resource. I discovered so much new music that I fell in love with. I walk through the hallways of my school of music and never hear such composers as Bax, Lourie, or Alkan echoing around. Now I will have to hunt more deeply for such pieces.
Why don't you just go to another video sharing site--there are plenty out there with much more lax rules than YT--and post the link on your channel? You know your fans will follow you.
Sad. Thank you so much though, I have discovered Mosolov, Feinberg and Lyatoshynsky because of your channel (I had known a little of Feinberg before I saw your channel, but not much) Thank you so much!
your channel was a great source of unknown but at the same time very good music. It was a high-value stuff, especially for musicians like me - interested mostly in XX century and contemporary music.
what are these copyright entanglements that prevents you from uploading new stuff but allows you to keep the old? I am especially interested since my channel is similar to yours and I don't want the same thing to happen to me :(
Thank you for the wonderful videos you brought us
Two of my older videos were removed by youtube, who then issued two warnings. Youtube adheres to a "three strikes, you're out" policy. And then I had to remove several more videos because CD label associates reported or threatened to report me to youtube. Those are the "entanglements" I speak of.
I could keep uploading new videos, but I only increase the risk of seeing my channel shut down.
that's a shame. our copyright laws our so misguided in many ways - it's frustrating to think how much they hamper creative growth. thanks for all the videos.

Saddening news...WE SUBSCRIBERS WILL CONTINUE YOUR LEGACY xD

this is depressing. No reason to come to YT anymore, except for NewMusicXX maybe. You should make private videos and share them, xD

Sad. Thank you so much though, I have discovered Mosolov, Feinberg and Lyatoshynsky because of your channel (I had known a little of Feinberg before I saw your channel, but not much) Thank you so much!

Very very bad news for all the lovers of rare pieces!!
Hexameron closed???
Why youtube want to destroy this treasure!?!?
No sense!

What I liked most about your uploads are the Alkan and Liszt pieces. Let's just hope that the music stays.

NO! This is horrible news. I thoroughly enjoyed the pieces you shared. I especially liked all the Russian composers. Darn you Youtube!

that's a very bad news!
your channel was a great source of unknown but at the same time very good music. It was a high-value stuff, especially for musicians like me - interested mostly in XX century and contemporary music.

Damn, I loved your channel man :(
what are these copyright entanglements that prevents you from uploading new stuff but allows you to keep the old? I am especially interested since my channel is similar to yours and I don't want the same thing to happen to me :(
Thank you for the wonderful videos you brought us

Two of my older videos were removed by youtube, who then issued two warnings. Youtube adheres to a "three strikes, you're out" policy. And then I had to remove several more videos because CD label associates reported or threatened to report me to youtube. Those are the "entanglements" I speak of.
I could keep uploading new videos, but I only increase the risk of seeing my channel shut down.

I have found your channel very interesting. It is sad that you have to do this... If you make a new channel, please inform us!
By the way, which piece is being played during this video?

that's a shame. our copyright laws our so misguided in many ways - it's frustrating to think how much they hamper creative growth. thanks for all the videos.

No.....
I've found a lot of interesting music in your channel, and this decision is unfair, unfortunately.
