Hope ye all intend to be at the Turning of the Sovereign Seal, our independence day, January 21st (1919). Google Billy Maguire if ye know nothin of it....
A tear to my eye very powerful words we have not done enough for our ancestors. The strongest words ever spoken. Although dead. His spirit. Never broken God bless u padraig!!
Pearse is my favourite of my rising leaders he agrees with me on all sectors prepare yourself for another long war this time more bloody and violent than the troubles TAL Ireland unfree shall never be at peace get it ADAMS and McGuinness and the those gready imperialists who agreed to a partation in 1921 you let the leaders down and made them roll in their graves and you let our great old land named Erin down im no dissident but i respect them the rising leaders didn't get much support either
Where stand you then on immigration and multiculturalism, policies by EU marxists who are enforcing and enabling the new plantation and invasion of this land?
@lrishNationalist more multi though i can't stand thoses fucking forners and i hope the EU falls its a pigs pen half them can get in without and can't speak a word of english
If we had true independence, both from Britain and the EU, we would have struck out like a fishing fleet upon the atlantic, reaping a horde quotaless but ever replenishing, from the purity of our isle and the creative freedom of our people bounteous in self esteem proud to be ourselves and like none other.
Remembering Patrick and all his brave comrades who gave their lives in the Easter Rising of 1916, and also those who gave their lives long beyond that, including the Hunger Strikers in 1981.
I enjoy the romantic and fiery words of Pearse, he strips Irish Republicanism down to its absolute basics, and sometimes that is exactly how it should be.
"Romantic Ireland is dead and gone. It's with O Leary in the grave". and that's the way it's suppose to be. We need to stop living in the past, it's dead and gone. We have a new generation of Ireland, with new problems, on a bigger scale. At least the "old enemy" was something tangible, someone to fight against. The fight on our hands today however is against greed and poverty, it's against facts and figures, these things I'm afraid, we cannot fight against and win. Be the change you want to see
Very touching poem. I must admit i'd never heard of it until I read a book by a writer called B. Tilton, who I presume is Irish. The poem is mentioned and I had to look it up. I enjoyed this book, a lot of it is actually based in Ireland and contains a good knowledge of Irish history, even the cover contains the tricolors. Aswell as the fantastic knowledge and references it is a very suspenseful novel with a great plot. I suggest everyone take a look.
what is needed today is a leader like the old days had. one to light the fire in the hearts of the people so we can rise again and finnish the mission theat began in 1916 and make irealnd truely irish again
He'd be turning in his grave if he saw a century later the streets full of big headed spoiled brats wearing English football shirts, their parents driving new cars on borrowed money talking shite about holidays in Spain and their apartments in Portugal. All having forgotten the sacrifices of their ancestors, now just interested in money and real estate. It's all gone and high time that Ireland and its people regained their soul and fortitude and got back on track to what made them great
NNEEDED NOW INDEED . AND CONNOLLY TOO. WHAT A DISGRACE OUR PRESENT GOVERNMENT IS. THAT SO MANY DIED ON LY TO SEE IRISH WORKING PEOPLE SLAVES TO CAPITALISM TODAY
"Hundreds of thousands of Nigerian Savages"??..THEY have done these wonderful things to fight against oppression and bigotry. Because of the likes of you.
They were all heroes in 1916, but it would have been interesting to see who would have become republicans and who would have been on the fascist side in the next conflict. James Connolly, as a socialist, fought for the freedom of the Irish Republic and the of all of its people regardless of religion or background. (He was born in Scotland). Sounds like you would have been in the Green fascist camp.
You are very lucky. I would consider it such an honor. I am hardly Irish at all but I read so much about that period and, sap that I am, I often have a tear or two in my eyes for their bravery, struggles, executions and never ceasing strong Irish spirit!
@MrIrishrover2010 everyone knew that the IRB HAD existed - few thought that it remained and many assumed that any remanence of it wasn't powerful. No one knew of its infiltration into the GAA or volunteers.
iam english but never british.mums family from irish roots.lets never forget pearse emmet tone connolly collins and all of them who gave so much.god bless and up the united irishmen and celtic fc.
Nope thats 100 % without a doubt the UVF in the North I have a World war 1 video here and they are in it drilling(Plus the ICA didnt have Karabiner rifles)
why is m. j. o rahilly included with the photos of all the executed? again thanks for such great videos. learning more of my history now than at school 35 years ago
He was one of the Rebel leaders and surely would have been executed had he survived. He is known as the 'reluctant rebel' because he only joined in last minute.
I love Patrick Pearse, and i'm English. Roger Casement not so much though
