The animation, style, design, screenplay, and overall story telling is completely different from any anime I've seen. Sure, Jack is japanese and the show revolves around a lot of asian themes, but that's not the point.

Don't get me wrong, Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X were both very good animes, but Samurai Jack isn't its wannabe.

Nobody knows, because sadly the show never got a true finale. Look up the Samurai Jack vs the guardian video that's on here though, that episode revealed that Jack will make it back to his own time, but it'll will take him many many years to do so. I imagine he probably finally beats Aku when he gets back to his time.
