the truth of the matter is, without Bruce Dickenson, nobody outside of east London England would have heard of this band. we all bought Number of the Beast in 1982 when we were 13 years old, and while waiting for Piece of Mind, we went looking for anything and everything with the red and white Iron Maiden logo on it. which led us to buy the first 2 albums, and to discover the amazing Paul Dianno. without Number of the Beast making Maiden international supertstars, i would have never heard him.

Unbelievable memories, I use to go down the Ruskin’s to see IM on a Friday night and the Green Man on a Saturday to see Deep Feeling.. wonder what ever happen to them.

I remember coming out of the Ruskin’s drunk and skint. Walking over the road to the chippy and asking for the a bag of scraps.

Dennis Stratton was and is such a great guitarist. Shame he didn't fit the band too well. I do hope that when ppl wake up and induct Mainden in the the R&R Hall of Fame he'll be present to play a bit! (And Paul of course, is he's alive enough :P ).

@jDemegod I think the winners are the fans that had the opportunity of listen two great singers. Obvious Bruce be better now. He he entered in Maiden with a sucess raised by DiAnno, Burr and others. But he knows how to keep it and lead Maiden to the top of the bands.

But if Dianno had stayed, he would make much sucess too, cause even today he has many fans. He is a great singer too, and better than Bruce in some musics.

I think Paul sings the songs meant for Paul better than Bruce sings the songs meant for Paul, but I don't think Paul could sing the songs meant for Bruce as well as Bruce does. The singing styles seem too different.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed - but then I do have a good ear for music. But in this live version they are playing it a semitone higher than they do in the studio version i.e. F minor when it's E minor on the album. Why did they do that?? I don't know why it bugs me but when I spot it it's quite annoying. That's not to say it sounds wrong in a different key by the way!!
