I'm glad I decided to start watching videos of falconry. I'm an aspiring apprentice myself, but seems I had forgotten that it's actually a sport as well as the knowledge, care, husbandry, and conservation of species. I just love EVERYTHING about this, I should have started learning sooner. Beautiful animals, by the way!
@OverusedExpression hey there,,, thx for comment,,,once you get the bug for this, nothing can stop it,,, what bird are you gonna get ?? how are you doing with your apprenticeship, have you got someone helping you along..... good luck and many thx...
@silverburn101 No, no one yet. I just joined the Indiana Falconer's Association just to keep in touch with the local Falconry community. It will be quite a while before I actually have the time to take on an apprenticeship, but I am enjoying the studying. This is something I've always wanted to do, since I was 16. I got my CHC Apprentice's guide about week ago and have been studying themodernapprentice. com a little bit every day. My hope is that when I reach a point where
@OverusedExpression I have the time for the sport, I'll have already learned everything I can academically, I'll already be involved in the falconry community, and I will be ready to pour all my attention into an apprenticeship. I'm not in a rush, I'm enjoying everything I learn, and I don't mind the time involved because it's something I'll enjoy the rest of my life. As for what BIRD I get, I haven't even started to care past my first redtail. Already got a name. ^_^
@OverusedExpression thats great you are getting everything in place for a time when you are ready to get a bird, and the red tailed hawk is to me , one of the best birds you could ever fly... i spent 14 years with my friends red tail being the flusher and cameraman before i got my harris hawk..... good luck and all the best.... mik
@silverburn101 Fair enough but what i'm really asking is if the rabbit actually escaped and it went through water or something and you lost it completely would the rabbit die from its wounds it got from the hawks talons?

Even if the rabbit managed to escape would it have died from it's injuries from the hawks talons?
iamthegame09 10 months ago
@iamthegame09 if it escaped from hawk, we would follow it using dog, get the ferrets out with locators and then dig out the rabbit .... no escape
