my 8th grade year we had to show how to do something and somebody showed how to fly a helicopter and they had one of them air hogs lol so i was like how about my blade 400 ,so when it was the next day i took it to school and people where like that is huge lol and then i took it out side to fly and i was just goin easy cause i didnt want to wreck in front of everbody lol then the kid that had the air hogs was like i can do that and i was like its 3d time and i was like the coolest kid that day.
A Marine and a community volunteer... what a guy! I salute you and the many soldiers and volunteers that make what yp is great about this country this Memorial Day weekend.
just a thought ,but when at schools why not buddy box , to most involved of the students in each class to give a drop of hands on which i think would take them to new level of interest
just a thought ,but when at schools why not buddy box , to most involved of the students in each class to give a drop of hands on which i think would take them to new level of interest
In the future these kids will be sitting around talking about the days when there were helicopters with 2 blades. Remember that guy who came to our science class with the 1 bladed helicopter? What was his name? I thought he was crazy!!!
@Nightflyyer You mentioned safety first. That's cool, that's the way it should be, but why then is it, that you are flying into the sun at the second class. That isn't really safe right, because you can lose orientation and lost the heli itself. Please correct me if i'm wrong or if you have a good reason, than i'll be quiet, but i don't think it is safe flying into the sun..
nice dave! i wish i got something like this done at my school here in Australia thatd be so cool! and i think a bigger heli woulda of been cooler for the kids to see fly and they might have been more impressed by it, but i guess that wasnt the point of the lesson! also the classes seemed fairly small compared to the 30 odd we have per class here in australia?
Hey teacher !! leave them kids alone !! .. No .. nice music picket for the vid. LoL. Would have liked to get a lesson on rc heli's when i was young. But they were outrageiously expancive back then. Thanx for this vid mr. nightflyyer. greets and happy flying.
great job teaching those kids, who knows they may get inspiration to get into this great hobby ! They got a great teacher if they need any help, I know you get a lot of satisfaction helping people out with the hobby Dave. Keep up the excellent work you have been doing for so many years, a big thanks for all your hard work, we always look forward to see more great stuff !
Good on ya, Dave! I've had young folks show interest in my RC flying. I recall one young guy in particular, maybe 8 years old, who seemed intensely interested and hung around watching me fly and asking a lot of questions. It really touched me, and I decided to buy some balsa gliders to give to kids at the park who showed interest in model aviation. It reminds me of when I was a kid. And I really enjoy helping iginite their spark of interest and giving helpful advice.
Nice to see you giving back your knowledge to the kids. I am an editorial still photographer in Los Angeles and I taught my first photo class a few weeks ago. I had a wonderful time teaching and answering lots of questions.
great stuff Dave.Getting the younger generation into rc modeling planes or helicopter is far better than the other stuff todays youth seem to be getting themselves into. I remember when I was that age I dreamed of flying rc... now I crash them regularly. lol. Cheers Dave and Jeff keep up the great work!
There's no doubt Dave you made some of them think you could tell by the smile on their faces, it must be very satisfying to teach something you truly love to do. Thanks for sharing.
Good for you! I hope you sparked some intrest in a few of the kids to get into the hobby. I was just asked by my church to put on a demo at the park for the cob & boy scouts, But I think it's really for the dads. LOL
@NightFlyyer How great! I watched the FM radio clip, and I see this. Just some great insight for the masses that do not see, know, understand, use all the R/C items we are familiar with. The more they know the better. The background music was great!! Good job, keep going!!
@NitroJunkie626 Same here but some of my friends stoped hanging around me becuase i got into planes. You really should go advertieing your a teen on youtube though...
You didn't forget to mention the Westland Lynx at the end did you Mr NightFlyyer. Its been doing loops, rolls and backflips since the eighties, not to mention holding the helicopter speed record of 400kmh for 24 years.
I just had a science fair, i got 2nd place out of 60 and you know what?..... it was about the basic helicopter theory and single bladed rotors like yours.....i used my t-rex 450 instead of a blade 400.....im happy with it......you really helped me thx!!!
@BryansFlyin Thanks kindly Bryan. Inspiration certainly is a goal of mine and yep, it has been raining and windy since, so we lucked out. Semper Fi back at you.

What would be the best helicopter to get under 500? I've learned how to fly a madhawk 300 pretty well. Thanks Mr. Herbert!
