This is so sad. My Grandma has this, and it's like she's here, but she's not. My mom always says that it is really sad that me and my sister didn't get to meet the fun and silly side of her. Now she is so confused it is almost scary. She had 2 cats and they are so overweight because she keeps feeding them, not remembering that she already did. I always cry when I think I never got to meet the real her, I just got to meet the confused, grumpy side of her. Let's hope they find a cure.
My gran died after having this for a while. Horrible way to go, all my last memories with her were when she could barely even speak... More funding needs to go into alzheimers
Just watched the full video last night. My grandma has it :(. and 2 of her sons are turning her against us, because they are getting money from her, and they don't want it to stop. One of them hasn't had a job in 30 years, and the other one is 65 and still lives with her taxi driver in SF, fat and very ugly) "helping" her only since he found out we are going to evict him since we own the house, my dad bought it from her (his mom). We are trying our best to help her, but they are so conniving
@broadcastmyass4u, the worries of having this disorder only belong to people who do not have Alzheimer or who have only been diagnosed with Alzheimer...In the later stage of the disorder you would not even know you are ill...so Why worry? Anyway, being worried about anything is like being worried about getting old...we go through life ONE day at a time, older each day and living ONE day at a time brings NO worry.
Very sad for any amount of the people to go through this. Lovely chemtrails in the sky today around 3:30p.m. I must say they were simply gorgeous. Completely boring compared to contrails. Mm my coffe taste so much better with this aspartame and flouride. I also enjoy adding rbst and milk pus in my coffee. delicious MSG has me in complete awe.... And load me up with every vaccine there is :D Now I feel healthy. Dont forget to shoot my child up with mercury at birth. Thank you
This is an exceptonally emotional clip for being so short...
My father is 54 and has had Alzheimers for 3years...the youngest person in my city with it is 22years old, thats the same age as me!! Wish that the prejuduce of this being an old persons illness would go! Dementia and alzheimers isnt a normal part of aging
That doctor has good pitch. My great aunt had Alzheimer's. Now that my mother is her age, I'm very concerned. She's 85 and very lucid, but the older one gets, the more likely one is to come down with it.
I hate alzheimers! It is taking my grandfather away from me.. :/. He was basically my father cause my father never wanted anything to do with me and my mother died from cancer in 03 and my grandmother has cancer now... and other members have died from both... Cancer and Alzeimer's is taking everyone I love away... :/
this was so touching, my mum has Alzheimers, this was so touching, but shockingly true, about how shes aged in so little time, my mum got it at 62. and and now looks 20 years older..sad but true..
my grandmother died of this disease this past march... actually st patrick's day. She was diagnosed with it about 8 years ago but she developed first stages of it about 4 years prior. hers progressed slower but was still horrible to see a woman who was dedicated to helping others and the light of their world to becoming one who needed the same help and couldn't remember her family. I'm glad she's not having to suffer anymore. She forgot how to swallow at the end, passed a week later. RIP grandma
my grandma has this and watching her fade away is the worst thing a man can witness. this is a truly horrible disease and the ripple effect of it affects every one in the family. from deal with hygiene to making sure she eats is a struggle. random outburst of aggression and anger when trying 2 guide her through out the day is soon followed by the fact that she well never understand that we're just trying 2 help. it seems the only thing she can pray 4 is death.....
One of my favorite aunts died from this in June. I watched as it turned her from a strong independent woman to a stranger. I felt so bad for her. Nobody should have to go through this. The family or the patient. I hope they find a cure for it soon. RIP Aunt Lenore June 2009 :(
oh my god..i watched the whole movie on orientation day for my job and i cried like a baby!! i work with patients who have alzheimers and i love it. it's difficult at times because some ask why they cant remember things or they say things that break my heart. but i love these patients and im willing to be the loving and supportive person they need by their side to deal with this disease!!!
my grandmother and cousin have this awful murderer of a diesese, now my father, who at a age when he should not have to worry about things like alzheimers now is on the very first stages, i am 15 and have now had two witness two people get it and i am now starting to watch another develope it.
Grace died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 79 in 1990. Her husband and loving caregiver, Glenn, has passed only recently in 2008. A care presentation for Grace is available on the Video Press website.
i dont want my grandma to become a shell, with no mind anymore. I would hate to be in her positions. As I am aware patients right till the end are aware of there surrondings, they know they have become totally mute. I wish there was a pro Euthanasia law if people requested for themselves.
cutterschoicenotmine, when someone says that, I have to wonder if they aren't just trying to make things easier on themselves. Trust me, the answer isn't to murder your loved one.
why should he trust you? have you or do you have alzheimers? do you know if EVERYONE would rather live through alzheimers than die? i admit the consequences can be dire if one is unsure that the patient wants to be euthanized, but if they truly want to pass on because their illness is so terrible, and its a certainty, shouldn't we grant them that at least? there is no simple answer to Euthenasia, each case is circumstantial, you ought to know that and quit making righteous generalizations.
"Grace" can be purchased through the Video Press website. However, you may want to check your local library to see if they carry it or ask them to acquire a copy so your whole community can share this touching story.
i wasn't sure how to aquire it. i will look into it...i work at a senior residence geared mostly towards people suffering from Alzheimer's, i'm sure my colleagues and i would benefit greatly from seeing this video.
I am not surprised to see my sisters comment. (sherysista) We all have suffered from our moms illness. I have written many songs regarding if you care to visit. I hope to donate the videos to help find a cure. Bless your heart, preserve the mind. ((Hugs))
Wonderful Video, I can so relate to this. My Mom quit talking but how happy we were that she still sang. Now she no longer sings...she is in the last stages of Alzheimer's.
@sherysista yeah i think as the illness progresses the person eventually forgets how to talk and sing. in the end they will have forgotten everything and everyone that they loved. but the disease will not take away the love from their family and friends
The end made me cry :"(

I saw the whole documentary in the 1990s
The husband, Gleen, must be a very rare person - so much patience and tenacity.
Is it worthwhile living so long once one has this illness?
I know 79 is not that old for a lady nowadays, but age is relative to one's state of health
