John Adams considered it the greatest service to his country to get those redcoats acquitted. The demonstrators pushed them up against a wall and left them with firing their muskets as the only way out.
British Soldiers and American Soldiers serve with equal bravery in Afghanistan - and I'm American.
Im British and I just want to point out that it realy shouldent be called a massacre Because the colonists nearly killed one on the soldiers by hiting him in the head with a rock and the soldiers gun fired when he drroped it not when he fired it so the outher soldiers fired as well because they thought there comander was fireing
Paul Revere's engraving is not accurate. The colonists were armed with rocks, ice, snowballs, clubs, oyster shells and what not. They were daring the British to fire and so they fired because they panicked and 7 were wounded. John Adams defended the soldiers and each of them got a branding on their arm as punishment. But this engraving shows that they were not protected and that the British fired all together. They actually fired individually.
@dscience8 Actually, I think it was only one or two of them that received a writ of clergy verdict and were branded. But, you do know that if they were ever convicted of another crime it would mean an automatic death sentence, right?
I forgot to mention the engraving that Paul Revere made. That made the colonist mad too. Please pick up a social studies book and read a section about the Boston Massacre. Kk bye now.
Ok! you people obviously don't know ANYTHING!! I''m a 6th grade girl. We studied the Boston Massacre in social studies. FIVE people were killed and SEVEN people we're wounded. TWO soldiers were found guilty at the trial and their punishment was they got the thumbs branded. This was one cause of the American Revolution. Trust me. I wrote a DBQ on it. So, please, don't post a comment if you don't know anything about the topic. Thank you. My social studies teacher wouldn't think you're very bright
@JackAttack. I have studied revolutionary war, and the main point her to address is heroes or patriots response to an oppressive oligarchial regime. To that of a coward, like yourself who you really do know nothing. "Rebellion" you might want to specify there. This was a war against the Oligarch, = beef down your ignorance Jack.
@cdnutter Agreed. kinda like when in 1970 during height of the Vietnam war, the US National Guards fired on protesters in Kent State University , killing four and wounding nine. But people called it a massacre. I mean i think a massacre is a term for mass killing of unarmed civilians/POWs.
wow, debating american history from a :59 sec. HBO series.....not to mention the clip is worse than a mid-80's, multiple recorded VHS tape!!
irish princess, remember this cute little jingle, ' i ' before ' e ', except after 'c'....LOL, proof your shit before you post, you don't want to sound ignorant do you?
Let's see....a bunch of unemployed laborers in a street gang, led by a community organizer, trying to foment outrage and consequent action- straight out of Saul Alinsky, if this had been staged today....
BTW I doubt John Adams was anywhere near Boston on Mar. 5, 1770.
Actually the soldiers were claimed not guilty and faced no charges and soon to return to England. The main question was if captain Preston ordered his soldiers to shoot and was claimed seperately. 5 people killed.
Have you studied the Revolutionary war at all? It was a piece of propaganda used to rally the colonies to join the rebellion. It was a drawing and an article published that made it sound worse than it actually was.
Beef up your history knowledge before making stupid comments.
