  • Live Kevin uses a Yamaha acoustic electric guitar. What kind of guitar are you using in this video?

  • The Boss Ds-2 turbo distortion works well too! 75 euros in europe and probably around 90 bucks in the states

  • could i do this without the ibanes with a cheaper distortion pedal instead or would it not sound good hm

  • That does sound like it.

  • this is awesome

  • boards of canada was influenced by mbv.

  • i know these are rare but i've also heard they are generally not sought after (i doubt that). Does anyone know how much they go for usually?

  • great sound..

  • u guys r dumb lol

  • The Boss HM-2 works really well for the Sometimes sound. I'm pretty sure MBV used them.

  • @treblinkalovescene Bilinda Butcher used the HM-2, I agree it's a great shoegazey fuzz and can actually be a great overdrive pedal too with unique texture.

  • lol i have a od850. it does have this sound. hey niick

  • GREAT STUFF I WANT IT FUCK

  • Actually kind of sounds like the tone on "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth" by Metallica.

  • @00Ibanezist00 yeah that's what i thought too lol

  • Try putting two dirty boost circuits after the fuzz into either a dirty or clean amp. I do it with a big muff -- pretty close to the album tone.

  • @Ombrenuit the vorg is basically a dirty boost pedal that kevin shields uses as a crazy lowpass filter. it enhances the bass of the body of the acoustic guitars which then get fuzzed out. i turned the trimpot inside the vorg down a bit so it makes less fuzz on its own, which makes the overall sound a lot less saturated and so some of the chords don't flub out like in this clip. you're right, the key is stacking dirt pedals and tuning to DADAAD.

  • @niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick where can i buy one?

  • @PoodleMaster67 eBay's your best bet

  • @niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick what? the tabs I have say it's halfstep down tuning

  • @Alienpelvis86 they're just chords so you can play them any way you want but if you watch them live you can see Mr Shields using this different tuning to get the open strings ringing through all the time. same notes but different arrangement of them for a different sound.
