thank u for posting. very clear, excellent 4 reference. dont pay attention to neg. comments. he who speaks does not know, he who knows does not speak! lol good job,THANK YOU! hang in there!
I think you don't really understand the meaning of "CHAM". That's the most important part of the whole technique. To defense you need : Tan Dao, Bon Dao, Fuk Dao, Gan Dao, Kwan Dao, Man Do.... But when for counter attack you need to know how to perform "CHAM DAO" with strength & power (of course the last part Kap Dao is for counter attack too & is part of the "CHAM" for very short distant attack).
Let me just say, if you knew Chi Do or the application of the Do you would be behaving differently in many parts of the form. Gap Do is one serious example thats quite different to me. id like to see a vid of you applying it against the Lok Dim Boon Kwan, that ad al the upside down Do what purpose does this serve in application.. curious ?
@Moe7133 Bruce Lee was a golden egg because of his fame and he introduced the chinese martial arts to the world thru movies, he unfortunately was not a golden egg in Wing Chun, as said he knew the moves and art but he unfortunately never accomplished inner strength so instead he compensated it with speed and strength. He even mentionned that he was trying to accomplish the latter but got killed before he could do so. You can find this info in Ip Chun's Wing Chun Kung Fu book with Michael Tse.
@TheHanzoHasashi Still, Bruce is still an Golden Egg. This guy is a chump! He should take Bruce advice too. "The highest art, is no art at all. The highest form, is no form." "Be formless... shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot; it becomes the teapot. Water can flow, and it can crash. Be water, my friend..." - Bruce Lee
@Moe7133 Hehe i wasn't talking about this chump anyway, i was referring to your Golden Egg title on Bruce Lee, oh and i made a grammatical mistake: i said "latter" i meant "former". This guy on the vid has a lot of precision moves to still practice, he's not even on the centerline. But about B.Lee yes he knows the theories and he could even imagine & explain them, but he never mastered it, R.I.P. Bruce hopefully he found some answers in heaven. And yes we are all proud of his achievements.
@TheHanzoHasashi You still don't understand his theory. Mastering an art means you have achieved the highest form of that art. Of course Bruce never master it, because art is unlimited. Do you think anyone actually master Wing Chun. If they say they did, it would be stupid. Now to understand the concept of Wing Chun and teach it is correct, but to master it. "NO!"
"The highest form, is no form." -Bruce Lee
"Once you stop learning, you start dying." -Albert Einstein
@Moe7133 You are overthinking what i said, I was talking about inner strength which is something many wing chun master can achieve without being the "all mighty great one of an art or form". Inner strength is one small part of the Wing chun, not the whole martial art but the most important part, & some people have mastered that part. Some can achieve one thing while others not. Lee didn't achieve this part, he didn't stay in china long enough to be able to learn with his teacher to that extent.
@TheHanzoHasashi If Lee didn't master inner strength then is his 1 inch punch for? So blowing someone 6 feet away with an 1 inch punch is not achieving inner strength. Yea right. :)
@Moe7133 You fail to understand what inner strength is, the inch punch is part of the theory of delivering strength at the last moment (punching at precise moment not when you throw the punch), concept well explained in Wing Chun, it is not inner strength. Take a few lectures of wing chun books, it's well explained. Ip Chun explained that same concept. Inner strength on the other hand is the method of breathing and applying that breath to moves and of use of the other's energy and momentum.
@TheHanzoHasashi the one inch punch is effective becasue it employs all of the joints of the body in one motion... from finger to wrist to elbow to sholder to waist to theigh to ankle to foot to the earth.... when applied simulatiously all of the shock power is delivered... i think bruce lee showed the technique which can be easily found on you tube... watch his feet
why does every forget the shape of this blade. it can turn and move with elbow strikes. It is devastating. check some hunggar versions of this. than you'll understand...
This form was only learnd out to few students that the sifus did have confidence in and they trusted. But today everybody can learn it but few people actully know the real secret among that form // Sifu
anyway..THis is the baat dam jo form. I think students of wing chun should know this form beginner or advance. this was the first form u would know anyway before siu lim tao. if u were going to war u wouldnt go empty hand they would give u a weapon. all that secret bullshitsu is just not relevant these days...south east Asian arts prove practicality over mystic is always more superior. Wingchun should b no different if its truly gna b respected rather than relying on bruce lees contribution.
It's OK to take it as a reference. He's only showing the forms of Baat Cham Doh but he's not performing the techniques properly. His Cham (chop),Tan,Bong,Fook,Gan,Kwan,Tong,Man,Kap, Doh (Knife) etc... are all not properly performed. For sure he's not his master's best student (of Baat Cham Doh) to do the demonstration. Not too bad (I saw someone who did it much worse) but not very good for sure.
the design of the blade is good for this style. escrima does not have a handle on their blades. different weapons. different cultures and styles. if I were to choose in a blade fight with this and a normal blade without the handle to fight. I'd choose this anytime. this blade is so devastating if actually used. but nobody uses this blade to fight anymore. so not usefull. is saying this arnis is better for modern day usage. though i doubt any sane person would fight with a 'parang'
A sane person wouldn't attack people in the street with a knife just for fun anyway. So if you are insane you could go for whatever you like, I prefer wakizashis and Turkish yatagan, but these fellows are quite nice also, love the wide blade and a nice curve for extra cutting power.
I would like to kindly request that lls188 remove this clip. Phoenixfist was right in stating how sacred this form is, and how it's should only be shown to dedicated student. Anyone who is truly looking to learn Wing Chun's weaponry should seek out a knowledgable Sifu personally. For those who want to learn, attend the class and learn from Master Yip personally. Don't youtube his dvd for cliffnotes on the knife form.
