Actually, the U.S. is the only industrialized country in the world without single payer/universal healthcare. Our current for-profit scam spends 30% of every dollar on admin/overhead. Medicare runs at 3-4%. Expanding it to cover everyone would not only save us $400 billion every year, but also drastically reduce the amount businesses spend to cover employees, which they could invest in growth instead. Single payer puts the focus on people instead of profit and makes perfect economic sense.
