@gregoryagogo Hey, thanks for your comment and for posting this exceptional video. Before last night, I only knew the word, hellzapoppin' and had never heard of the film, much less seen it. It really made my day. As for smoking and clear-headedness, i dunno. Some thrive on that haze for creativity. I don't, however, number myself in that group. But the goofiness certainly reminded me of some fun times when there was a little stuff around. Gottta be clear for the dancing though!! And what dancin!
i watched this movies when i was seven years old and it made me laugh all the way through.until u tube,i thought it was gone forever.i bought a book of movie listings and it wasn.t listed as available
i rememberd the sorting strawberry gag.and watching these clips brought back a fun few minuites for a seventy six yr old .the b movies were the best back then.
@KingswayMovies Thanks! That validates me totally! I left that in there on purpose! How natural of line is that! Something you'd have to say a few times in your lifetime! LOL
Frank Skinner, the gentleman who wrote the music score to this picture started out as an arranger of stock orchestrarions for dance bands in the 1920's. "Yes sir that's my baby" was one--there are many others spanning the early 20's to the mid 30's.
holy cow, I watched this film about 30 years ago and all i remember was this song, and it's stuck in my head ever since. It's probably the catchiest song I've ever heard in my life.
Felt like another conga fix, so I always know where to go...Do you remember a conga-type song from Nancy Goes to Rio? I think it might even have been the title song. Can't find it. I'll bet you can!
That was fun. Another one I've never seen before! I actually remember seeing a photo in a Life magazine retrospective of a bunch of club goers doing the conga in either `1939 or 1936. As usual, it was probably popular for awhile before it made its way into movies. Do you remember an earlier conga scene in movies before 1940? You seem to be the expert on this subject. (smile)
Enric Madriguera sell records in U.S as 'the king of Conga' his rival was Xavier Cugat...Cugat play no clean cards with him and gets from Costello ,Petrillo and the boys to exile him of USA to France...Syndicated game accuse him of unpaying players and pervertive intention of his CONGAS BESOs...ja ja
Enric Madriguera and his Orchestra were the introducers of row Conga in Clubs and Dancings ..in Paris give La Beguine and london s Lambeth Walk to oblivion....Enris was Spanish -Catalan like Xavier Cugat
I find it fascinating how short this Conga Fad was in American pop culture... 1941, and that's pretty much it! A flash in the pop-fad pan! I love it though! It's so simple, and it does sooooo much for me! 1-2-3, ________! The other fad at that time is the Boogie Woogie... more fun!
These guys handle randomness better than Seth MacFarlane does with his three shows.

Sure it wasn't a samba?

Yeah, maybe you're right. I guess it was Conga-like. Anyway it was fun. You should check it out. Cute male dancers in it too, a bonus.
