how do the p90's do on noise level? im thinking of installing one into my guitar and i have heard that the noise hum can be very loud, if so any suggestions on noise cancelling or overall suggestions on brands or anything? i play in a leslie west mountain style.
i am thinking of getting an les paul junior as well....would u suggest what's the major different betweeen a normal les paul junior and a billie joe armstrong signature series?
@DCCGaming calm down mate. As you can see this the billie joe jr. and buying this guitar is a tribute to the singer. If he wants to honor him, he only has to play some green days songs, not a lot, but a few is ok ^_^
I love green day and I love the les Paul jnrs but I hate the normal finish on it then I saw this I knew I needed to get it and I did..... It kicks major ass
you need more practice dude before you decide to demo, you chops are ruff and your meter really sucks plus your guitar needs tuning...take my advice I know what I am talking about
Thanks for letting me hear what this guitar sounds like with the tone all the way rolled down, that's what I wanted to hear. Never again will I have to rely on that pesky neck humbucker to get a horribly muffled and muddy sound. Phew!
And no, it is not the best electric guitar that Gibson makes. There are so many, such as my '68 Goldtop. '68 was the first year of the Goldtop reissue. These were made with leftover '50s bodies(mine is marked '57 in the neck pickup cavity). Solid body, no 'swiss cheese'. 11.5 pounds of tone with P-90s. maybe not the best either, but so damn close.
This is what I got from Gibson; Thanks for writing! The H-90 pickups are complete P-90 pickups that have an under-wound enamel wire coil stacked below the single coil of the P-90. This provides some hum cancellation without the pickup actually being technically considered a single-coil. The push/pull pots split the P-90 from the stacked coil to make it a true single coil P-90 pickup. Thanks for the inquiry, and I hope this helps!". Direct from Gibson
im getting the normal les paul jnr. ( i love green day, but the signature is too expensive)
im just wondering why the signatre is so expensive... all the stats are the same, except the pickup of billie's which is noise cancelling for stage purposes.
and the hardware is a different metal....
is it because its a signature guitar and it has his name on it? is that the only reason?
it's the pickup (which is not noise canceling, i don't know why billie said it is), the paint, the woods (particularly the brazilian rosewood), and the name. i agree they are overpriced i got this one on sale for the same price as a regular junior
@Maximusstriker the gibson website describes it as a p-90H it's a regular p-90 that they overwound to get it to handle a little more distortion than a regular p-90. and trust me, I own the guitar, it's not hum canceling. check out the guitar world review here on youtube Paul says the same thing i'm saying
Quote from Gibson.com: "The new P-90H black soapbar pickup is another example of Gibson's drive to stay one step ahead. This new pickup offers all of the soulful, classic tone of Gibson’s legendary P-90 singlecoil pickup, but with none of the 60-cycle hum that usually plagues traditional singlecoil pickups."
What else did you think the H prefix stood for? :)
Gibson’s H-90 stacked double coil pickup is the result of a close collaboration with Billie Joe Armstrong. It offers the snarl and punch of a classic, vintage P-90, but with none of the 60-cycle hum that usually plagues traditional singlecoil pickups. This was accomplished by simply taking two singlecoils and stacking them on top of each other, resulting in the hum cancellation effect that occurs in a regular humbucker.
Please buy a new pedal. The boss DS-1 is trash man... Might I suggest a Danelectro cool cat? Same price, but they're made of metal, and they sound a million times better than lower end boss. Or maybe the Digitech bad monkey, that's a great pedal. Anyway nice guitar.
@superlou1s danelectro makes cheap crap. you're right about the ds-1 though. i had it keeley modified and now it sounds great (really noisy though), thanks for the comment
@dacuriel- i agree with you about danelectro (mostly) Their "cool cat" pedals are all metal, and actually sound pretty good. They are definitely a step up from the regular boss ds-1. I despise that pedal- but I guess it could sound good for cheap modded.
@superlou1s have you heard the keeley ds-1? pretty strong. especially at high levels of distortion (like for solos). i'll post a video when i have time
Does anyone know how the sound differs from the Epiphone LP Jr? I'd kill a man and his family for a Gibson LP Jr, but I only have a few hundred to kill and I need that sound

How heavy is the Junior, seeing that it's solid mahogany?
Less than a Les Paul Standard, obviously - but is it still a weighty beast?
