  • bill I'd really like to hear about your own opinion..you know tablets began to dominate the world as personal computers to people we all can't tell how PC gaming is going to be by late 2010's, we know everything has an end but do you think gaming desktop will remain among the tablet domination?

  • Just ordered my parts to mod my case with these exact instructions! Question: Is the hole saw you're using a typical hole saw, or are these particular saws for cutting metal?

  • @edmyster81, purchase "Bi-Metal" hole saw, which you can use for Metal and Plastics

  • Very nice and clear video, thank you! I might try this myself in the future!

  • Awsome video bud . Thanks

  • Excellent instructions and really pro work, thank you!

  • do i follow the same steps used on this video if i wanna make fan hole / screw holes on the acrylic side window?

  • @aiexbadboy, Yes for fan holes, but for fan screw holes, I recommend using drill bits made for Plastic. You should be able to find these at hardware stores or online. Otherwise, a standard bit will twist and crack the plastic

  • Another great vid from mnpctech. Makes the whole process so much less risky when you've got someone to follow/ Even for seemingly simple jobs its good to know what you're up against in advance.

  • Can you link me to the U-channel stuff? i cant seem to find it on your site

  • @hybridtheory4, this channel focuses on pc modding, Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • Bill Owen, The Bob Ross of casemodding.

  • @luckys1evin, without the fro! Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @Kdot16, no, just use bi-metal blade, Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • 6:42 That's what she said :)

  • This also applies to making a window in a acrylic panel?

  • @iceboi714, Yes, Thanks for watching and commenting!

Because of your instructions, I was able to install my handles perfectly. Thanks!

  • If i buy something , could you ship them to Sweden , if so , how much would the shipping costs be?

  • Badass.

  • How do i make a 120mm fan hole in a plexiglass window?

  • Airflow question: Are side fans really necessary? I removed mine because it was making a low yet annoying noise due to vibration (it didnt disappear even with rubber grommets), I record acoustic instruments so that was a real problem. I put it as a bottom fan instead and now I am thinking of making a side window (to cover the side holes and also because it looks cool). Should I add a side fan in the window? or is it better to add top exhaust and be fine with the bottom and front intake? Thanks

  • Great video as usual, Bill.

    was wondering how much

    24" x 12" Acrylic sheet and 6ft of u channel

would cost about, to ship to australia :D just a estamate thingey cheers

  • can i file the hole after i drilled it?

  • DAM GOOD VIDEO I WISH I HAD TOOLS

  • What size are the anti vibration fan gromets and the u chanel

  • Comment removed

  • yo what if i just wanted to have a square hole on the bottom of my case so my gpu underneath will have enough "breathing space"??

  • how do u sharpen hole saws??

  • I would use some gloves so you don't get that metal shit as a sliver.

  • My Dad made his own punch at his work with stainless steel.

  • Man I just wish when thermaltake first built the armor case that they just made a 120mm fan on top for exhaust. That or they didn't put that cruddy top plastic thing on it that terribly blocks airflow and put something else that looked just as nice.

  • I put a 120mm fan ontop of my Thermaltake armor..

  • I take it you took off the plastic holder of the 90mm and at very least zip tied it to the top?

  • None of the above. Watch my Thermaltake Armor Build "Big Red" Video. I just screwed it on o_o

  • Nice but you had to have taken off the 90mm fan holder to screw it on being it's right in the way. Unless that was something you have to attach which I could have sworn it was already installed up there fan and everything when you get the case.

  • How much to ship U-Channel to the UK?

  • say, were would you plug the fan in? mother board pw supply? what?

  • also your arbor is a 1/2 inch one

or a 3/8 inch one? like the tip

  • 1/2"

  • Great vid =]

    helped alot

  • this video is the kewlz0r

  • thanks for this video man, subscribed because of this :)

  • Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • very helpful... bevause i didn't know if it was save to use those with a hand drill. gonny buy a hole saw thingy now!

  • Awesome.

  • Thank you!, keep up with my projects on "the mod brothers" forum :)

  • @MonsterMawd can i do this with a window side fan mod?

  • Great work mate keep it up.

  • I don't think I would be doing it with my current computer but this is saved for future reference.

  • hey bill,

have u ever created a front bezel from plastic using a vacuum former, i was looking at my old cruddy dell and it looks really crappy so i was thinking i would mod it with 3 80mm in the front and 2 on top and a couple in the back if possible (u can get 10 80mm for 13 bucks free shipping from newegg) so what would i have to do to mod the plastic front bezel i only need to have space for a single 5.25 inch bay

    thx for the help

check my channel for the for the vacuum former vid, in favs

  • Is the same thing if I want to make hole in acrilyc? also In Mexico cant find a 4 1/2 hole saw but a 5 in hole saw can I use it?

  • nevermind you already answer this in your forum, sorry for the double trouble

  • no dust filters ? =))

  • for exhaust? :)

  • a Side exhaust ? hmz :D definitly sounds like a

    Viper ^^

    can u show how u do dustfilters ? :-)

would be nice :D to see a way to make your own dustfilters ^^

  • hey bill can we use this same method for plexi glass side panels or is there a different method and if their is a different method can you please show us

    thanks

  • Yes :)

  • thanks man

  • oh and very good job, looks great :)

  • nice video, im gonna put 2 fan bays on the top of my pc, maybe even one on the front, is the method different for the front plastic on the case?

  • is there anything extra you need to do with the blow hole fan on the top or is it all the same thing?

  • same technique :)

  • what size are those fan gromits? wait stop i cant find mt center punch!

  • bro how can i get your stuff

    im malaysian

  • Html link for international order information is on my front page, Thanks :)

  • good morning

  • I wish you had done this before I took a dremel to my case... It could have been so much easier.

And I can't find you on facebook.

  • You can use a Dremel to make fan holes, it takes practice, but it's doable :) Bill Owen, Minneapolis, St. Paul

  • Bill Im trying to add you in facebook but there are 435 Bill Owens how do I get you?

  • Bill Owen, mpls

  • did u use a lian li case panel for that? Which case cause the case im looking at has holes as a vent and i would like to not have holes to vent so i can do what you sort of did.

  • Lian LI PC-7 plus

  • Thanks for the tips, really helpful!!!!

  • You're welcome, thanks for watching and commenting Fox :)

  • err~~what is that "black color tape" surrounding the fan hole?

  • rubber molding, not tape. It's called "u-channel" from mnpctechDOTcom, the link is posted in upper right hand corner as shown in the video

  • i was wondering do u have to go to college to do what you do?

  • Nope, just practice.. look up, "AcidMods Interview With mnpctech" on YouTube

  • No Problem!!!

  • You can never never party too hard, you too, thanks bro!

  • Great vid Bill!!

  • Thanks dude, and Thanks for the card too! :)

  • Just a few extra tips: Use oil to lubricate the circular saw, dont let the saw cut all the way through in one go, but rather stop when the cut is halfway the plate (specially when the plate is thicker ) and finish the hole from the other side. This way you avoid a nasty burr. I missed the pasrt where you show/tell what direction you fan will blow to, before you screwed it on. :) For the rest, love the vids, keep m up.

  • Thank you Frenkie. I forgot to mention adding oil for thicker panels and noted it in annotations.

  • NOTE: using a hole saw on a steel case (rather than thinner aluminium), you'll need the proper "metal" cutting hole saw and not your typical "wood" hole saws. The latter will not work, will wear down and make a whole lot of noise on steel panels.

  • Thats correct, use bi-metal type hole saws. I forgot to mention this and added it in annotations. Thank you :)

  • Bill, I'm curious as to how much those Hole saw attachments are in the US, i haven't had any luck finding them on the net (To buy in Australia)

How much were your *set* in the US? When i priced them here at our local hardware store they were around $120 AUD.

  • That sounds about right to be, a quality one with everything you need can be quite expensive.

  • I've always bought them individually. The kits included sizes I never use. They range from $10 - $40 apiece depending upon size :)

  • Thanks bill :P

I'll look into it because i want to make a polished silver (as close to silent) case for a media PC.

  • merry christmas to everyone in mnpctech

  • I bought these after seeing it. I know people who just file it to a circle. This is just so much faster and even better.

  • A lot of people have asked if you can use a Dremel to make a fan hole. Yes, but it takes lot of practice. I may show that technique

  • Most people at my pc community site they use a jigsaw and saw between the lines and after that they file it to a circle. This is so much better. I guess every modder should have it.

  • nice!

  • Awesome work

  • Thanks Bill,as always great tutorial.Keep em coming!

  • Awesome

    Thanks Bill =)

    Great Tutorial.

    ~Frosty.

  • Those wire grilles take powder coat or paint nice too and look really good if you need to go from chrome to another color. Good guide Bill.

  • nice After Effets intro, and nice how-to, 5/5

  • Great how-to!

  • nice tut!

  • very nice guide, yeah i have been working on a fan mod for a while now and just finished it, painted all my case fan blades white XD

i may use this mod for my old comp

  • Would this method also apply to perspex? I'm looking at possibly doing a custom side window job to my Antec 1200 (Similar to Tjharlow's work), however I at the same time want to postion a 120mm fan to run over and cool the GFX card(s). Can't currently use the side fan in the 1200 because of TRUE120 black prevent me from doing so.
