Everyone says if we elave that there will be a Civil War, AND? This country had a Civil War and it sucked but we got through it. I'm saying if the Iraqi people want peace they will have to fight for it. Let them fight eachother, not U.S.

yes we want out of afghanistan, no we should never have gone into Irag BUT:
as I understand Obama, the air attacks which caused so many civilian collateral casualties is to stop (it is this which weakens support in the population and strengthens the taliban enormously). but in order to still have the required force against the taliban (without air and artillery support) more man power is needed in return.
this sounds reasonable. so unless the U.S just packs up TODAY what is the alternative?

Republicans are a bunch of ignorant malcontents, who can be worked into a frenzy about anything. They simply can't live with the reality that they lost the election so badly. Their desperation has lead them to look increasingly insane. Their divorce from reality and retreat into the political netherland of subjective hate and fear, runs counter to the direction of the conciousness of our country. These Palinesque optics will lead them to a major defeat in 2010 and 2012. Life is beautiful.

Thanks, Jane, first and foremost for using the medium. I remember asking you to do more of this back at YearlyKos 2 in Chicago. To your great credit, you moved on incorporating video long before DailyKos did... and they are still dabbling with clip assemblies.
As I've said since the Libby trial: what you were doing with Marcy, combined with what Josh Marshall began doing with on-camera analysis, is the ONLY way progressives will move forward in leveraged fashion. great job. (rhfactor)
