The raw energy of this makes me feel alive. Something that you will never find in todays industry. Every fucking thing is so stale and safe these days. Nobody wants to be offensive. Nobody wants to take risks. Nobody wants to express themselves and fuck shit up anymore to make a point. This band was getting it done!
Is it just me, or is the glimpse of muddy trent + the guitar chord echoing the stadium at 2:36 the most goosebump provoking thing ever? I can't explain what I am feeling when I watch that particular part.
I dont know how "remastered" this is other than the video having noise removed. The FLAC files on reflectinginthechrome com/shows/1994/19940813 html sound just as good as they do here.
this was the gig in s**tsville that financed their "Further Down the Spiral Tour." It's funny how they went into this gig without taking it seriously and nailed it making it one of their best performances.
Terrible Lie...My first favorit NIN song. DAMM what a show starter. They also used it as show starter in 1999,when i saw them in Copenhagen. DAMM DAMM DAMM,i never forget the intensity of that show. Every live performance i ever have seen with NIN (Dvd,Video or Concert),they all are extrem intense. They must be the best live band ever exist !!!!!!!!!!
@DkPirat I agree 100% about this being the perfect show starter. I first saw NIN in January 1991 in Boston and I will never forget the image of Trent (with short dreads at that time lol) slowly rising from the dry ice fog to grab the mic and start singing Terrible Lie. Damn he's intense.
This had to have been one of their favorite nights as a band, Trent's as a composer. I saw this once on Pay Per View the evening it was aired and never wanted to get ripped off with a cheap bootleg VHS from the local record store.
I know this might be a weird question, but what kind of shoes is he wearing?? Like boots or something? They look weird. I know it's an odd question, and no, I don't know why I was looking at his shoes.
@Commiteee Steel toe looking boots. I know because I used to obsess over his every article of clothing and his every move because I wanted to be him when I was 11. And I'm female. haha.
@Bunnyxdsingh I recommend Chris Vrenna's side solo joint "Tweaker". To anyone who hasn't jammed that and loves NIN the way I do, you owe it to yourself to peep it. Even though it's not half as abrasive, it's just as deep and moody.
@Bunnyxdsingh I just typed in "Tweaker- linoleum" and found the video for that single. There's also videos of "swamp" (my favorite song from 'the attraction to all things uncertain') and even videos from their sophomore album '2 AM Wake-Up Call'.
@axis1250 its not officially released so you would have to buy a bootleg copy I did like 7 years ago you are better off just downloading it off a torrent site either way Trent/NIN doesnt get any money from it so fuck paying some dude making money off Trent & Co's concert when they did shit but copy it onto a dvd. If someone videotaped a concert themselves then sell it thats a little different. I used to collect mad bootlegs but the net changed all that shit.
Its amazing how Reznor thought Woodstock sucked and had to be talked into doing it, thought his equipment blew, and then turned in one of the most iconic performances of my generation.
@dash3640 But to me that shows just how good he is, because he is such a perfectionist with such high standards. He is always chasing them, always trying to give the best show possible. Give the most real experience possible. That is part of what makes him great.
Its amazing how Reznor thought Woodstock sucked and had to be talked into doing it, thought his equipment blew, and then turned in one of the most iconic performances of my generation.
I'm glad Trent has found some peace in his music now, but I sometimes miss the angry, depressed, fucked up, tortured young man he was. Made performances like this legendary. This NIN was brutal. So fucking brutal....
i learnt nin in 2009, i appreciate that i can listen to the bunch of great albums at the same time, but its too late for me to look forward to watching them play live:(
Pinion/Terrible Lie by NiN at Woodstock '94 - absolutely incredible! Just as impressive today as when I was fortunate enough to see it live. There were a lot of great bands on that bill, and NiN still stands out largely due to their ferocity and their "take no prisoners" attitude. Brilliant.
Thank you for uploading this - the remaster is great in both video and audio! Any chance it can go up for download? Although I've seen NIN live and it was amazing, this must have been absolutely insane see live. This is what I love when a lesser known artist just comes out and says "Yeah, we've been doing it MY way and look, it's better than anything you can possibly imagine!"
"Pinion" how's that for an introduction to a concert? ; ) We're happier that you're in a better state of mind Trent; but then again you've created your best work when perceptively at your most cynical.
have the original bootleg of their whole set from woodstock - it was called mud pigs - of course doesn't sound as good as this version but still cool!
This is arguably one of the most difficult performances of Trent's to watch; psychologically and emotionally he inevitably here is in a very frail state of mind. Regardless it's an excellent performance, but I prefer the one on "And All That Could Have Been".
Dont know why you are getting thumbs down, because its true, the Trent we see here is a Self Destructing Animal, and he is a fucking awesome one, I still like these performances a lot, and although I think these as the best times, times in which Meldal Johnsen or Cortini would have gotten eaten alive, Its positive that Trent evolved, the new Nin does have a perfect touch, the touch where all the members understand the art and limit the agression to a certain extent.
