Im fairly liberal, and I think this whole thing is going to be a disaster. The only reason you can begin to toss around the word "progressive" is mostly due to the huge tourism industry and the positive effects it has on what is actually a conservative population. All the polls show that Egyptians support Islamic justice to the tune of 80% of the population. Stoning's, etc. I think you ultimately end up with an Islamic theocracy. Given the geographical implications, that is scary.
@RT378 Well, although generally I agree with you, it's not scarier then Israel's theocracy (de facto, if not de iure) in the same region, though I'm not a fan of islamic version either. My point is, it's whole middle east is scary enough already - this will not change things much in a "scary way". Just don't give US to meddle into it, they will broke even an iron ball... All in all, I find this Egypt thing to be - perspective.
This revolution was done by the moronic, "yes we can", nihilistic Internet-youth, not by the poor people. This revolution has been organized by the CIA, in order to make a Sunni front together with Israel so they can go and invade Iran this spring.
Be thankfull for the opportunity the egyptian people have created for themselves.
They stood hand in hand, Egyptian to Egyptian, undevided !
This is what made possible what has happened.
They created the chance to a better future for all egyptians.
Should you relay like to enjoy the comforts of the "Kalifah", maybe you should go and live in Iran for a few years. Then decide if that is realy the way you want to spend the rest of your life.
Yep, Al Jazeera has good coverage of the event since, they have a headquaters there already, even they were shut down 4 a while too during the revolution.
I think for The West, Israel serves as something other than a homeland for Jewish people. I don't think the average Westerner has any idea what that purpose is or perhaps 'was'. I've seen videos of Orthodox Rabbi's excoriating Zionism while the Western press goes on as if all Jews were Zionists. Lets hope the Egyptian Revolution marks the end of the old devil's games.
This behavior by the Egyptian government against international journalists was all part of the World-Zionist media's ploy to leave them with some credibility just as the World-Zionist governments were going the other way. Haven't you ever heard of the saying, "playing both ends against the middle?" As the revolution became more successful, the Zionists wanted their media left with SOME credibility if it succeeded. Anderson didn't look very hurt. It probably was all faked. Use your head!
Intelligent, nuanced reporting on the press in Haiti. And other topics. Many perspectives are shown, and the report is not bland or wishy-washy.
Thank you so much people of Al Jazeera. I hope you make it on to American TV -- we need what you have to offer.

@wuliong
Why do you think so many Iranians took to the streets in 2009?
Probably because they were so happy to live in the "Kalifah" ?
Have you lived the life, or are you speaking from the comfort of a "kuffar" society,
wich allows you to live your life the way you feel is righteous withhin the boundries of a civil constitution?
Be carefull what you wish for!
Peace @ ALL

"Let Freedom & Equality Ring!" Let it ring from every mountain top to every valley across this globe!
Let us speed up the day when all of God’s children (Christian, Muslim, Atheist etc.) can begin to evolve!
So that one day we can ALL join hands as brother & sister & say:
“Free at last! Free at last! May THE CREATOR be praised! Thank you for this awareness of self; OUR PLANET is saved!!!!"
