@MegaBrebis Hi, glad you like the vids & thanks for looking in. Too many variables to give any meaningful reply other than 'maybe'. Depends on how loud your drummer is, what guitar you use (single-coil will give more clean headroom than humbuckers), your definition of 'clean' and of course most importantly the cab & speakers you're using.
@ingeniousblues Glad you liked the demo. I have a Laney VC30-210 with 2x10" Jensen C10Q16 speakers. These give a brighter, toppier more 'vintagy' tone than 12" speakers which I like a lot. You don't get quite the amount of bottom end so I balance this to get the best of both worlds by adding the matching 1x12" Laney GS112VE speaker cab with a Celestion Seventy Eighty.
Awesome review!! Im in a big dilema, I love the sound of this baby but Im also considering the Vox VT40+, In valve terms, how loud is this compared to the VT40+? IS he VT40 close to the sounf of this little beast?
Thanks in advance and thanks for uploading your amazing videos!!
@aronchas Hi, glad you like the vids and thanks for looking in. The NT15 is a very different animal to the VT40+ - great all-valve tone with 'thick' option vs variety of tonal colours/effects from the VT40+. Really depends on what you want the amp for. Volume depends on which cab/speaker combination you're playing the NT15 through, but it's one loud amp! In truth, you'll struggle to get an equivalent tone from the VT40+ & you won't get that jangly sparkle.
Would this or the lil night train be better for a practice amp? I'd like an amp that can do jangly cleans and overdriven tones, but that isn't too loud. Is 15 watts very loud for a valve amp?
@minedarea The LNT isn't like the NT15. It's a practice amp with not much headroom, that breaks up too early. You won't get the jangly cleans of the NT15 from it. The NT15 is a Gr8 amp but it's loud, and not a home practice amp. The AC4's are nice but I needed a low volume practice amp that went louder too. I was on a budget, couldn't find an 'inbetween' Vox solution, so compromised & went for a Laney Cub12R 1x12" 15w combo with a 1w & 15w inputs, 8/16 Ohm extn cab out, FX loop. Gr8 little amp.
Great vid, glad to see one with a humbucker guitar. I can't tell from the video demos exactly how loud it is, would this be too loud for home/apartment use when set on 7.5 watts? Would i be able to get the great distortion from your other video at reasonable volumes. Keep jammin sounds great!
@ganish31 Glad you liked the vid. At 15w (pentode) the NT15 is probably going to be a little too loud for an apartment. If you turn the volume right down, you lose tonal quality. At 7.5w triode I think you might be OK, but as per the vid, for me the sound quality in 15w mode is so much better. This really is an amp you need to push a bit to get the best from it. I had the NT set at 15w throughout the vid. Re distortion, the thick switch is great even at lower volumes.
@cruuuuuzz Hi - I just used the spring reverb & delay (or tape echo) in the Tonelab ST. You probably want room or hall reverb for shadows, & tape echo, with an AC15TB amp model.
Great playing Rich! I ordered a Night Train today. Your demos are best at showing what this thing can do. Awesome playing. You got those blues licks down. The TLST also looks like a great tool. Thanks again from the land of JJ Cale, Leon Russell, Steve Pryor, and the Tractors.
@CDNBOBify Thanks very much - glad you enjoyed it. A lot of folk seem to like the blues stuff. There's an old vid on my channel called BB Blues that you might like too.
Hi very nice demo! Would it be possible for you to demo the sound of the direct out both clean and jangly and perhaps driven? Thanks again for the great demo! :)
@tjnugent62 I'm waiting for the lil one too! :) NT seems to be great amp, that's a pity it doesn't have fx loop to get some delay on overdriven tones...
what would be the best 4x12 cab to match this? im pretty strung out for cash here so im not paying more than 200 english pounds (its ok its its a bit more than that but keep it to a minimum por favor)
@MeanGreenMovies Sorry, but the choice of cab/speakers is entirely personal & I never try to advise on them. £200 isn't much for a 4x12 so you might get better value secondhand eg on Ebay. It's just a case of investing some time & taking your NT into stores to try out different cabs to find what suits you & the NT best. If you want to stick with new, although I've not heard it personally, the Bugera 412H 4X12 200W cab represents terrific value at under £200.
hi voxman5 great demo of the night train. i have a question, is the V112TV cab better than the v112nt to play rock and roll and blues? i readed in some pages that the v112nt is not so well. Can you tell me your opinion. excuse my english.
@carlosvillanueva Hi, glad you liked the demo. I haven't tried the NT cab so can't comment I'm afraid. Speakers/cabs are very personal so it's just a case of trying cabs/speakers yourself to see what you like.
Hey, sounds pretty nice. One question, have you tried this amp through a better cabinet? I'm wanting to get this amp, but i'm trying to find the right cabinet. I want as much of a big sound as possible. Does it sound better through different cabs? And if so, how much better? Just trying to get an idea. thanks for the demo!
@rokr432 What constitutes 'better' varies from person to person as we all like & hear different things. It sounds great through the 1x12" extn cab for the AC4TVH, and terrific (& loud!) through my AD212 extn cab (2x12" Celestion 'Neodogs' G12 Century Neodymium speakers). But I also tried it through my Laney GS112VE extn cab (1x12" Celestion Seventy-Eighty) & didn't like it at all. So, just a case of experimenting.
Amazing demo! I'm thinking of getting this amp for quite some time now, but you really convinced me with this video, that I will be spending my money wisely!
I have a question about the signal chain. Is the NT directly plugged into he Tonelab and than to the cabinet, or...?
Thanks and again congrats and many thanks for the great demo!
@Ivokbg Glad you enjoyed the vid and thanks for looking in. This really is a super little amp - and yes, it was plugged directly into the NT ie guitar>TLST>NT,
@Voxman5 But isn't there a problem with higher gain because of the effects being in front of the preamp? Distorted signal with delay is ok, but delayed signal with distortion? :) What's your opinion on that matter, is the lack of FX Loop a major problem?
@Ivokbg Some FX are best in front, others in the FX loop. Only if you have separate stomp box FX can you split these. So with any MFX unit at this price point there are always compromises - but it's quite easy to tweak & save patches that achieve what you need.
Hi Rich, The best bit is the blues riffing around 6:20 onwards. some nice playing there and nice sound too. I'm not too keen on chorus and delay, I like the raw guitar/amp sound best.
@JonGUK Cheers Jon - I hear you! When it comes to out & out rock stuff I'm fairly old school too - in fact the first vid I did for the NT was just the NT, with no FX. This one was more to show clean, jangly stuff that I was asked for & you need effects for the type of riffs I was doing - just trying to do something for everyone as most folk do use effects. And even Jimmy Page uses effects! Also, this hopefully showed how well the NT works with TL effects.
@Bernz67 Thank you for looking in. Glad you're enjoying your NT & liked the vid. Which cab are you playing it through and have you used it for gigging?
@MrROTD Thanks very much MrROTD & glad you enjoyed the vid. It really is a great little amp - I'd love one of these for myself - shame its only a loan!
Hi! Thanks a lot for the great reviews you put on the Web.
I had a question about he NT. Would you say the clean headroom is enough to play with a drummer?
