  • Got a friend that works on Oden ;)

  • maffigt..snacka om POVER..

  • @Mrhassesweden fast jämfört med "50 let Pobedy" ligger hon i lä:) Hon hade väl stävat på i en 10-15 knop!

  • why is the US icebreaker still? Not enough power? I Used to work as a skipper in the baltic sea so I know how thought it can be to break the ice.. But the us do you have any icebreakers in the size range of Oden? regards

  • It was nice taking turns with the Oden breaking ice. The constant noise and vibration would get to you after a while when you were leading. It was an awesome trip. Not too many people can say they've been to the North Pole. Oden is funny looking but effective.

  • ODEEEEN! Its a swedish Viking God.

  • It´s seawater thats pumped out in front of the ship. The power of the thrusts is aprox 2500hp together. The thrust is also used to manouver the ship in narrow passages + it looks pretty mighty when thousands of litres just roars down from the bow.

  • How come your ship stod still?

    Nice video!

  • It's an ugly ship but very powerful and effective. Plus it's really popular and has lot of missions around the worlds because of it's rare ability to create a totally ice-free path behind it. It simply pushes the broken ice underneath the surrounding ice. Rounded corners under the bridge is for 4, 40mm Bofors cannons. All icebreakers are prepared for that in case of war. Don't know if it's still possible to do so, but that's the purpose from the beginning.

  • is not posibol for my boat

  • what is the liquid pumped by the bow?? hot water or cold water?? who tell me how it work??

  • The water is simply cold salt water. The water acts to reduce the friction between the ship's hull and the ice.

  • Oden is a weird looking icebreaker but it´s working very well :)

  • If you got stuck there, it'd take a while for people to get to you because of that ice.

  • That's the strangest looking bow I've ever seen, but it looks mighty effective.

  • It doesen´t "cut" the ice, is lays it self on top of it and crack it with it´s weight.
