ive never met a hacker online and i play online all the time :P
btw, can you hear songs that people hack into Brawl with one of those song replacement hacks? Lip's Theme is already in Brawl so that might be different than a song that wasnt already in Brawl...
Pretty much every video you see with a song brought in from outside the game is through audio editing software on the computer. It's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to hack the game so that an outside song appears in an online match for other people who might not have the song.
well ok, i was just wondering because i know there are people that have actually hacked songs into Brawl instead of adding it into a video, and i was wondering if other people heard those songs online
am i right that second player used a texture hack? i dont know ice climbers costumes very well but i dun recognize that one o.0 plus the pic at the bottom doesnt match
I love fighting hackers on Brawl online. I fought seven. I fought so many, I started hacking on Brawl online since yesterday. There are no codes to ruin anyone's fun online that actually work (yet, unless you count turning all Pokemon into Ho-Ohs, Manaphys, etc, or trapping peoplein the All-Star Rest room and Homerun Contest. But I do hate it when people hack to ruin other people's fun. It if probably the player 2 (like you said) who are hacking because one thing I noticed, hackers always taunt.
Good-natured hacking is fine, the ones who treat it as a spice. But there's always the hacker who either wants to sap the fun away or wants to do things their way and change the mechanics as they see fit. The folks using the Gecko to turn Brawl into Melee is one case of the latter. I hope I never have to face one of them online.
There'll always be hackers who not only don't care for sportsmanship, they'll want to destroy the fun of other people. It's not as easy to be a griefer over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, but they do exist.
I'm aware of the Homebrew Channel. I never activated or used it though, since I don't have any use for it. I do everything legit.
The Nintendo franchise that undergoes the most hacks is Pokémon. With the absolutely insane amount of pre-planning and statistical balance in that game, they naturally invite less scrupulous players to cheat the system. When I play Pokémon Battle Revolution, about 1/3 of the people I face has at least a partially hacked team brought over from the handheld games.
No more Action Replay Wii? I didn't think that would actually happen.
Still, this is a seedy, legally ambiguous business, and when one head gets chopped off, three more grow in its place. If Datel gets eliminated via the legal system, we're going to see the company come back with a different name, just like how the Trolli snack company has re-emerged as "Yupi" and "eFrutti" in the past.
They're patching glitches and arresting illegal companies, though it's going to be difficult to get rid of stuff like the Action Replay and the USB Gecko.
To be honest, I respect the hacker culture (as long as they aren't doing something destructive to other people), and I feel that a lawsuit against hacking devices would be a repeat of the MPAA trying to get rid of VCRs: Hacking devices can have beneficial uses. They aren't completely evil.
You'll still get better over time. Whatever it is you're bad at now, you'll ind a way to get around it. Just be patient, and you'll be rewarded with victories.
Every winner was once a beginner. If you just got it two days ago, of course you won't be as good as the people who have had it for months. But be patient, and you'll catch up to them.
I know...i cant wait though till i am as good as you!!!! Then i know i will be ultimate! I am really good with Ike, Link, Marth and Pit. Other then that i cant do anything.
gah, i was playing this game yesterday and got that gold hammer thing (the one that you hit the ground with repeatedly) and it wouldnt hit anybody and people ket attacking, pissed me right off
Yeah, some of them are regular Golden Hammers, which do a lot of damage and swing really fast, and some of them are Squeaky Golden Hammers, which don't do anything.
You can't tell until you grab it and try to hit someone with it.
I played with an Ice Climbers like that. They crouched over and over, they had the same alternate costume and the stage being picked was Target Test 1.
I joined them in crouching over and over again. XD; I usually do that on With Anyone.
When the bombs spawned in the middle, sometimes they would use the Ice Shot on the bombs so they'd explode. But then someone would fall off the stage on purpose and they'd run into the bombs and get tossed around by the explosion.
Really? Well, I guess they expect fighting and all and not goofing off.
I havn't gone against a hacker yet, but if I find one who is hacking to gain an advantage against everyone else, that will annoy me. Can Nintendo do anything about it?
Its funn and all, but the problem is that they can make chars so big that they take up the whole screen and if they hit you, they do like 400 damage. also they can negate knnockback, and they will become invisable
They are hacking the game with an SD card software. It iskinda fun if you are doing it, but when your fighting a char with no knockbak or a super wario, it saps the fun out of it...
Ah, I see. I saw a few videos of someone playing Mario Kart DS online under "300cc" settings against people playing normally. It wasn't a test or anything either; this guy enjoyed having such an advantage.
There is something similar in Mario Kart Wii, although thankfully I've run into one, and only one person who can do it. He could freeze the game when he wanted to (if more than 1 blue shell is lauched, the game freezes) or have an infinite ammount of stars
There's a single item spawn point, which is on the middle of the floor on the bottom. Sudden Death matches have all the Bob-ombs down there. They land on the ground and sit there without exploding, meaning Sudden Death matches will last until someone accidentally attacks down there.
I guess there are no items in Target Smash!! because there isn't really a proper spawn point for the items. They'd all get crowded down there.
Oh. Wouldn't know that my internet isn't strong enough to support a non-friend brawl. And aside from that, the game's kinda lost itself on me. Too many techniques and all that made it lose much of its zeal to me.
I have a crappy router, so I changed the internet setup, and now I can play Wii completely immune from disconnections (until my laptop runs out of battery power, at least).
I just play casually, or at least in a casual style for Smash Bros. The game never gets old for me this way.
lol, i thought u could only hack on friend wifi, 25mario52 made a video on this if u wannna see that. anyways, u can also have CUSTOM STAGES online, lol. that would be EVEN MORE INTERESTING!
A lone Ice Climber is now a lot less powerful, their Smash attacks don't send people as far, and I think their hammers are smaller. The partner Ice Climber is a lot better at returning, however.
The target test match came from someone with a USB Gecko device, it allows minor hacking of the wifi, you can find a fair few videos of it with a bit of youtube searching
I know of the Gecko; I just hope they didn't change any of the game mechanics. I was able to win some of these matches, so whatever they were, I could deal with it.
I'm fairly certain they can't tweak anything super game breaking. All i have seen so far is texture hacking, stage hacking (I'd actually love to play on the target test stages), custom stages de-sync so far so they are no goes however. And I think there is a way to get permanent Warioman and Giga Bowser, but only in friend games
I've seen discussion in SmashBoards about how to tweak Brawl so it has the physics of Melee. I don't know the extent of the Gecko, so I don't know what else it could do.
Indeed, the Melee vs brawl debate is quite heated. I liked melee just fine, I just happen to enjoy brawl more. I was one of those FD/No item people in Melee, but have a lot more fun in brawl by being anti FD and pro items.
I had the same situation. After I unlocked Final Destination, I always picked it. And items were never on. Now, since items are more fun, I always have items on (except sometimes Dragoon when Smash Balls never appear for over 9000 battles straight). And FD spammers made me hate the place (though I hated it before I got the game from watching Overhazard's and other's videos).
Any idea how the playing on the Target Test stage came about? I'm guessing a hacker of some kind. Kinda like in the sense that people hacked Mario Kart DS to use some of the tracks that weren't avaliable online to be used online.

I've been playing this game since its American launch and i just found this out a week ago.

It did seem like Player 3 got the smash ball in one hit. Although you have to remember there was a hit from each of the Ice Climbers' hammers.

I think the hacker was the P3 person because he (or she) got the smash ball with only one hit in the 2nd match. And the smash ball just appeared.

I've seen that happen before, though I suspect Player 2 because that player was the only one who never left the room I was in.
