Metal Detecting Old Farm Sites

Before they had markers with the flashing lights.They used those old oil lamps as markers in front of the barricades when they were digging up the streets. They were used as late as 1975.

A good abandoned farm location open to the public is Delaware Water Gap NP in PA and NJ, unfortunately this past summer the NPA began posting "Area Closed" signs around some old farmhouses due to hazards, however there are numerous unmapped, unmarked stone foundations of ancient homesteads. Early spring is the best time to explore, after the snow melt. See my video response.

Do you get permission from the land owner before you go onto these old farms? If not, man be careful, people get a little crazy. They could charge you with tresspasing and theft, and depending on where you are much worse things could happen. Remember just because it is in the ground or left behind it is still the property of the land owner.
