Thunderbird is and Mail are awesome. Who would wanna pay for Outlook or Entourage? There's a free client out there... HOWEVER if you buy Office Professional, I'd definetely switch to Outlook to make that price worth it.
I always used outlook express since I dunno, 1998 too perhaps?, and later microsoft outlook. I started to think about switching to thunderbird bcoz outlook 2007 have lots of problems like disconnected network etc. Why do you switch to thunderbird then?
Currently using Chandler and Thunderbird, since Evo is twitchy in Windows and Lighning is incompatible with latest TBird. Found Chandler and really like the PIM capabilities. Will be using TBird until Chandler's emailing capabilities have become "Fully Operational".
I tried windows live mail, but it was just too slow for me for some reason. Every action took a second to load and it was annoying especially when thunderbird doesn't have that problem. Also, I have a theme called silvermel that is for firefox and thunderbird, so it is nice having both apps with the same really professional looking theme. Also, the last thing I added in was the lightning extension for thunderbird which adds a calendar. After a bit of customization thunderbird is quite awesome.
using gmail for personal, outlook (non-exchange, though...) for work. Interest in Thunderbird stems from customization, specifically to find or dev. GTD tools - the DavidAllen GTD plugin for outlook is spendy @ ~ $70 and just "not perfect" enough to justify. Are there good GTD plugins for Thunderbird?
Very nice video. On my website I have a email system were you can check your emails. It Does not matter what email account you have. You can also have it link to your mobile phone. it nice to use. Just go to my profile to see.
Gmail. I'm migrating my Hotmail account to that eventually. I found no need for any of these downloadable email applications and it does everything I want from chatting to calendar and even word, excel and powerpoint online. What more do you really need for email?
Same here. If you absolutely have to open an application to view your e-mails, calendars, contacts, etc, why not the good old web browser... (and you can access it from anywhere)
The only reason I'm keeping Hotmail is because I have many friends using MSN Messenger. I wish they could integrate messenger with google chat, then we'd be all set. But something tells me we won't see that in our living...
The first client I used was Outlook Express, then tried Outlook, didn't like Outlook, went back to Outlook Express, now Incredimail, but Incredimail has it's drawbacks and is kind of a rip-off when it comes to having to pay if you want skins and other extra stuff.
THIS guys a fucking dickhead all he did was show off his workspace and talk opionated crap .
i wanted to know about thunderbird not your life story .how about changing your title so people dont think you actually reviewed both platforms fucking Geek
I use ThunderBird with Lightning and SamePlace and think it is great! I have not tried Outlook due to security, but it looks a bit better than ThunderBird as an e-mail client however.
Outlook is far more than just 'e-mail client'. I use it's features extensively and like it very much. The most useful feature for me is synchronization with mobile devices.
Thunderbird is just good e-mail clent but almost nothing more.
good descustion. but i had only one or two email system i use and they are microsoft outlook exsprees andi really couldnt tell you the other one because it is so old and slow i had more problems with rather then being able to do anything with it. so the program i use i will proboly keep for many more years.
Thunderbird... was... well ok, you can download messages form hotmail yahoo aol and some more webmail, with an addon but still the view is wierd, I know you can make it look the same as outlook, but everything was squished into one line unlike 2 in outlook
dont b so stupid people need email clients so tey dont have the bother of keeping an internet window open and getin shitty services where you have to refresh every 2 mins to get ur mail.
I started using Outlook Express and then switched over to The Bat! (very powerful), but since a few months ago I've been using a service from Gmail of which I was not aware of, and that is to receive e-mail from any pop3 account (up to 5) directly in Gmail.
I recently switched from Outlook to T-Bird hoping that it would be easier to synchronize my laptop and desktop. It wasn't, however, I have stuck with it because I like the indexed search for my mail and contacts. The calendar is an addon, and has a lot to be desired though. BTW, if you are looking for a fast way to sync up your clients I highly recommend Allway Sync.
First client I used was Outlook Express. After using various versions of Microsoft Outlook for a few years, I finally switched over to Thunderbird. I haven't looked back since. That's not to say Thunderbird is better than Outlook. For me personally though, Thunderbird suited be better.
my first email was aol
