Videos like these make me wish America had the football culture and system (pro/rel, clubs all over the place) that exist across the world in other countries. I live in a city of over 200k people yet we do not have a club; makes me sad.
Lots of respect to these supporters though! They are real fans
Great vid. I support my local team, who r in the 8th tier of England, and I go to nearly every match. Only problem though with caling people who support a club they dont live near gloryhunters is that they arent always. I know someone born in Leeds (where I live), that supports Liverpool, but goes to many matches throughout a season, while I know many people who support Leeds, but dont hardly go to matches. I dont see why they should be seen as better fans just because they support a local team.
Altrincham, Conference North, 6th Highest level in England. Suffered as the minnows in the Conference Premier for 6 or 7 years, 49 wins in200 games. We finished in the relegation places 4 times in those seven years, three of the times we were reprieved from relegation due to other teams' financial troubles. So why did we go through all those years of being the minnows?Because we care for our club and have passion, unlike Plastic Premier league supporters whose attences halve when they get relegated.
Manure fans will never know what Survival Sunday was like for us Wolves fans. The feeling of going between heartbreak to elation within 30 seconds. That's what supporting a team is about, not an empty trophy "your" team wins every year. Wolves born and bred, Wolves until i die.
an American who i actually have respect for, most american's support barca/united just because there good. anybody who supports their local team rather than a great team from another country is a real fan in my opinion.
This video is perfect for those of us in America supporting our MLS or USL teams. Not only does most of America look down on us, but so does most of the footballing world. "MLS is not EPL, you suck! Blah Blah Blah!" Well you know what, I DON'T CARE! I love my Sounders, and I love my league. I love football!
im an arsenal fan. i live in essex. you cannot possibly say im a glory hunter cause we've won f*** all in so long. my father, and his father, and his father all supported arsenal. but my number one team is my local league 2 team; southend united. ive been going to my school for 6 years now, and there are more and more chelsea fans now than ive seen ever. where are they all coming from? i guarantee they all came from teams like liverpool who are on their way down. these aren't true fans.
Lisburn Distillery.......40 years without a trophy when I could do what most people in Northern Ireland do and turn on Sky. But christ I would have missed out on some good times, some of the best moments of my life have come from watching the ups and downs of the club I can see from my bedroom window.
Fantastic video. I am in my 20's, but back when I was like 10, when I started liking football, for some stupid reason I dicided to support Liverpool, no-where near where I live. I only ever went to 1 match in like 3 years, and, when I was around 13, as I got into football, I realised how stupid I was. I went to some of my local teams matches, and now, I love them. No I realise how stupid I, and many others who didn't/don't support their local team, are. There the ones missing out.
i was born into a liverpool mad family, my dads from kent, liverpool has secured a solid position in my heart, ive been to the prestigeous anfield a couple of times but it's difficult, but thanks to my sky remote i can see the game with my hot cupp of coffee, but that coffee only remains in the mug till the time liverpool score then it has served it's place in the adventure of football drama. L!V3RP00L <3
@xKronicBlitzz Liverpool used to have some of the best support in the world, then loads of fuckin whoppers like you came along and ruined it. Now, our support is a fuckin joke like the vast majority of English Clubs (especially all the Premiership teams). Kopites (in the proper sense of the word, not just people who have tickets on the Kop) are the only true Liverpool fans left and you wouldn't have a clue what it means to be a Kopite. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM!
I'm a Liverpool fan, born and bred in Liverpool and have lived here all my life. I've got a season ticket on the Kop and go to every game home and away. Our support, is plagued by glory-hunters, known as "whoppers" in Liverpool. Too many just don't know the Liverpool Kopites unique culture. The best fans of every club in the world come from the city/town of the club itself. Football is supposed to be tribal, outsider 'fans' just blur those boundaries and dilute support!
I get the point in this video, but in my early childhood, I was FIRST introduced to English football teams. And you guessed it - I ended up watching Manchester United's games. What you do or feel as a kid becomes a part of you later on in your life. Manchester United grew into my heart and I can't change that. I wouldn't be able to support any other team. United is a passion for me and I stay loyal, no matter how well they play.
FORZA METRO! I live in the US and everyone knows the football here isn't quite at the level as on the other side of the pond. But I live and die for my team. Fuck all the people who say they support ManU, you live in the fucking US, when are you ever gonna see them play?
I'll take a trip to the back end of nowhere or a cold Decmeber evening spent on the terraces at the Oval with a gale bowing watching the Glens any day over watching a bunch of greedy, overpaid eejits with egos fit to burst. I'll take proper football ta.
Bless all the fellas in red, green and black. Le Jeu Avant Tout
My home town doesn't have a football team, even though the population is about 6k. And the places I live... well I move a lot, every 3-5 years to a new city. So I see myself an an exemption, I have no "local team".
Excellent video! Followed the Glens all my life at the matches every week since i was 2 and wouldnt miss it for the world! Nothing better than Glens and Blues, Glens v Ports or even the police escort heading in to solitude haha!
ive got this problem i support manchester united and i have for my life and my parents do but they are not local at-all my locals are teams like coventry and birmingham and villa but i sometimes wish i supported a local team and support then even if they lose everything...
im 15 and a glentoran season ticket holder and i agree with this,
i go 2 every home and away match and what disgust me is the day we won the league against Cliftonville 2009, the attendance was amazing the best all season and i stood there and wondered where the fuck where these so called fans throughout the season ? these "customers" only came because we where gonna win the league. and that sickens me to be honest as they do the game no good,
5 stars linfield fc is my team id much rather go away to coleraine miserable night and sing my heart out than sit and watch liverpool play in the comfort of my home!
I'd have loved to be around when people supported their local team. It's really dishearting seeing the majority of 'fans' 'supporting' teams at the other side of the country.
How is it disgusting? You can't support anything else than the team in the city where you were born? Are you retarded? And by judging from your other comment, you must be.
When you really support some team, it actually means something to you. Finnish guy shouting to TV in english with remote control on the other hand and penis on the other when Liverpool is playing...that isn't supporting. That's whoring.
A lot of people glory hunt Real Madrid, Barcelona etc. because they win. Thats disgusting.
I like to watch UCL games myself but I don't pretend to be a fan of those teams
So a Finnish guy can't support Liverpool, no matter what? Even if he's been a fan of them for 20 years, it's still whoring when he's Finnish and has only seen them live a couple of times?
You cant be a fan of Liverpool if are born and live in finland. Why?
You aint watching their games on stands with other fans, chanting, shouting and cheering for your team. Instead you are sitting in your couch and pretend that you know something about football and about being supporter. In fact you dont know nothing about it
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Seems to be it is you that doesn't know anything about it. Or about anything in fact. And I agree that one can't be a fan of Liverpool. Who would want to be a fan of such a shitty team?
this is the typical glory hunters comment, why support the team? it is our home team, the team from where we were born and that is why you support them, because you wont to see them succeed and be there when they do, you go back to sitting on your couch, watching your overpayed players on a box, and we will go back to our stadium, getting behind the lads and supporting them to do well!
Born & bred in Bolton, been going to games since i was 7 (16 years) and i've seen them when they were dreadful, seen our numerous promotions, seen us relegated and seen us draw with Bayern Munich, beat Athletico madrid, smash 3 past Arsenal, beat Manure. Will support them till i die.
Pisses me off seeing Bolton locales with Manure, Shitty City and Chelsea tops on. Nobs.
Born in Burnley and support Burnley can't stand people who support Clubs that are 200miles away and say they are true supporters? Do they stand in the cold, wind and rain on a stormy tuesday night watching a footy match for a team they love? No, theyd rather sit at home and watch it on the telly, ridculas. Com'on you clarets!
and just toadd, glory hunters really boil my blood because they have such a snobby attitude and think they better then any other fan ebcause they win more trophies, but this video speaks a lod of sense
I support Burnley (hardly a lower league club now is it?) but ive supported them when we were down there suffering and were just a carp nothern team from the lower leagues, but this season we achieved so much and even if we didnt win the play offs i would have been so proud of my team (just like february when we went out of the Carling Cup semi final to spurs in heartbreaking fashion when i cried for hours).
2.has an interest in all football around the world, and would never make comments like a league is shit just because it doesnt have overpayed pre-madonnas with fancy hair lol.
in ireland losers bypass their own countries league, but for some reason stop at just england. seriously some goons would rather watch sunderland play west ham than real madrid vs barcelona. lol
One of the best vids on youtube i love my local team(shelbourne fc) and i love all the emitions you go through in a single game from dispear to joy or even the other way around there is juston other feeling like it and you cant get that feeling from your arm chair at home or a barstool. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM . . . SHELBOURNE TILL I DIE . . . . . .
being italian It would be easy for me supporting Juventus,Inter,Milan ...HELL NO!!!NO WAY DUDE!!!I live in Padua,as long as my heart will beat I will follow my 3rd divison team...who cares???IN HOC SIGNO VINCES ACP 1910!!!
Never a truer word spoken, true fans going to watch their local team with a true passion in all types of weather. What I cant stand though are those who come from the rural towns around Ulster such as Portadown, Armagh, Ballymena, Ards and so on who travel to follow Linfield + Glentoran when they have a proper Irish League team on their doorstep. Nothing but glory hunters & if they supported their hometown club it would give them a chance to compete.
Great great vid.... I was lucky my local team was and still is Arsenal... But in those lean years, many moons ago when football was not so much a business and players where just like the supporters who watched them, I was there drowning my sorrows with the best of em...... Luv to football fans everywhere what a great sincere loyal bunch we are.....
steeple true blues fan club 4 life! linfield till i die. gd wee film, nd whoever says eircom is better than r league r off their heads. l/derry shud play in their own country! follow ur local club with pride and norn iron 4 2010 world cup!

I believe in everything this video stands for.
Plastic fans boil my blood and like the guy earlier, 99% of people on merseyside support liverpool, everton or united. But do I support any of them??
Do i fuck.
Im a real fan who goes through the good abnd bad times.
Scunthorpe last season, if we won we got in the play offs. Conceeded in the 88th minute for 1-1. Yehh i was heartbroken but did i care?? Nahhh
Was more proud than ever.

It seems like a lot of us know what this is all about going to a low quality hungarian (or any other) first division match.
Because it is us and our effort on the pitch.
Thank you for this vid.

For me a true football fan
1.supports their local team
2.has an interest in all football around the world, and would never make comments like a league is shit just because it doesnt have overpayed pre-madonnas with fancy hair lol.
in ireland losers bypass their own countries league, but for some reason stop at just england. seriously some goons would rather watch sunderland play west ham than real madrid vs barcelona. lol
