I never go through all the trouble you do for leveling. I just use my starter the whole time, plus give a flying type EXP share. It's what I've done for most all Pokemon games, and I've never lost a match with it. See, I don't care much about type. I just spam my most powerful attack. :D

Something odd, May had Torkoal and Mudkip in Rustboro if you picked Torchic. On Route 110, she now has Lombre and Marshtomp and replaced Torkoal with Slugma. If you selected the female character and Brendan is your rival however, he will have Slugma and Mudkip in Rustboro if you picked Torchic and then on Route 110, he will still have Slugma and Marshtomp, along with a Lombre. For some reason, May gets a Torkoal in Rustboro that Brendan doesn't.

@Chopdopple According to your fact, giving May a Torkoal in Rustboro must have been an error when developing the game. The developers accidentally missed up torkoal with slugma; hence why Brendan has one at Rustburo. They both were supposed to catch a Lombre in between their journeys.
