John was so clean cut, but in a way that I have not seen any other artist be able to be. Why Don't people understand that is people like this and music like this that makes the world a better place, not loud disturbing, disruptive music, with people who screw up their lives. John was a gift and this is his song.
He was a son of a preacher, and he has given honour to God in many of his songs.
So sad, he was a sad person, suffering in many ways. Good hearts often die young. But God knows about every accident. Nothing happens without a reason.
Gracias John Denver por regalarnos tus canciones que llegan a nuestro corazón. Todas ellas tienen sentimientos de amor y alegría, de conciencia y meditación. Fuiste y sigues siendo inspiración de vida.
The gift. Lordy!, each of my children. John Clayton, died. My other son, long process of adopting, our daughter that took a battery of Dr.s to get her here. We almost lost her, those heart monitor's were flat lining during the entire time, of delivery. Could HEAR those monitors going off. Her heart stopped, several times.
John's song: "The Gift You Are", is super special to one Happy Mom!
when i was 10 i was trying to sleep while listening to my ipod when this song came on. i listened to it. then i got up went into the living room secretly and heard in 7-10 times before i memorised it... true story.. :)
P.S. my mom came nd gave me a scolding but hey.. it was worth it! :P
Thanks for sharing... my mom loved John Denver's music and I had never heard this one. I found it on my birthday and am sharing it with my kids and friends...
I spent 8 hours today driving through the Rockies listening to John Denver's music and enjoying the beautiful fall colors. He was an amazing human being who was so talented, so real and so genuine. He is so missed by so many people including me. He was such a gift.
It is hard to believe it has been 13 years since the day we lost this wonderful man; a gift to us for so many years. I still tear up listening to his beautiful voice. I lost my husband that same year, so 1997 was a tough year for me. I miss my husband so much, and I hope that John is singing to all that have lost love ones.
This is a beautiful song. JD has a celebration in Aspen CO each October - Check out the website for Friends With You Band. This band has a very nice tribute to JD.
Oh, this is so very sweet. John makes me smile everytime. The little mistake is so cute the way he handled it. It's too bad people took him for granted and really has forgotten about him. How very sad that is. We really lost someone very special. Thanks for all of your wonderful postings of this great man:)
@sedona05 I love it too. Don't worry that he has been forgotten though, he hasn't! I still play his music all the time and I'm sure millions do. Keep loving him!
I love this post. lol ....To see that John could laugh at his mistake. I love the words to the songs. So beautiful..it says so much, and JD sings it with the feelings that only he coulld put in to it.
Love this video of John, THANK-YOU for sharing, love his giggle, and the fact that his concerts sometimes had mistakes in them, and us JD fans loved that! We all had a GREAT time at John's concerts! Always & Forever A PROUD JOHN DENVER fan!
I think John Denver wanted us to know that "times are tough enough but not as rough as they could be." ( my Quote) To appreciate nature, the promise is every person.
This is not from a regular concert but from a symposium that John was having yearly that was in support of the organization that he and Tom Crum started called the Windstar Foundation. These symposiums were usually centered around the music tent in Aspen.
Love this song, love revisiting these symposium times. They were always
Oh...my goodness...he is wearing the guitar strap I beaded him in 1986 when I was 14...the same strap used on the intro of the autobiographical "Portrait'" video but it is very hard to see there because it is drapped acrosss his lap. This is the first I have seen him in concert with it. For the most part he kept it at home. It was multicolored against white. Even after he is gone and all this time...Denver is still so full of surprises for us :)
