  • Whaaaa...?

Wait a minute. guilt free when it comes to sex??? India must be the hardest place on the planet to get laid! Aside from the crazy Middle Easterners...

I mean, I love India and all but, come on! Let's be real!

  • @Diosibundo So what you want evey girl in every street ready to have sex with you, she said guilt free not slut fashion.

  • Hahaaa... Classic. "Unlike the West, India was not traumatized by the idea that the universe is infinite and the Human place in it tiny"

Maybe that explains why we Westerners are such self centered crybabies

  • Kamasutra is not a vedic. It's a sex literature written by vatsayana (ancient sigmund Freud). Erotic sculpture of Khajuraho were built by chendela kings who are called tantrics worshipers of spirits & forefathers, who are into black magic & stuff like that

  • Ahh the so-called experts in Indian history.

I bet she is product of JNU or some south asian studies institute with superficial knowledge of Indian languages.

I am laughing at Purusharth's meaning the "expert" is trying to explain. Purusharth root is Purush which is indeed MAN. But purusharth does not mean MAN's work( That is naive and WORNG translation ). It just means work, ANYONE 's ( Man, Woman or even Neuter ).

  • Purusha means spirit, or something in the nature of consciousness. This word comes from Kapila's Sankhya philosophy (7th century BC), which outrightly denied the existence of God. This philosophy says that the universe is a product of constant interaction between two entities viz. Prakriti and Purusha. Prakriti means ever-acting and changing nature or energy. This philosophy is also called dvaita philosophy (not to be confused with Madhwa's dvaita, which vehemently denigrated Kapila's theory ).

  • The most striking feature of Indian culture is its openness to new ideas, and its capacity to assimilate extraordinary ideas into its ways of life.

  • Yes I agree in context of Sankhya : Purusha is what you refer to.

Purusha also means man. And his karma as purusharth.

  • @prs2106

If you were more fluent in English you would know that "Man" can sometimes be that exact meaning, a neutral synonym for humankind. She is not wrong, it is only your own lack of english knowledge.

  • @Darkiver

Man is used seldom in that sense. The appropriate usage is Person. So if you were more cognizant of contemporary English usage you would use Person and not Man to have no ambiguity.

  • Yes Indian religion which is highly scientific is not add odds with science where notion of the two are poles apart and often irreconcilable. The framework of Hinduism is deep, mature and open like ocean where multiple ideas, philosophies are embraced with OPEN MIND.

It is not bound to dead sea scrolls or limited to 10 commandments or 8 principles or circambulation at some physical spot in Mecca.

You will not be punished for heresy if you think differently rather you will be challenged.

  • There are many nations in the world but only few civilizations and cultures.India is greatest civilization of all time.

  • The greatest nation on planet earth

  • proud to be indian
